Dems Suddenly Worried About Foreign-Owned U.S. Debt

Breaking news Tuesday evening from MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann: foreign countries own a lot of U.S. debt.

Well, duh.

Most of us have known this for some time and conservatives have insisted on cutting spending to help dig the United States out from underneath its debt.

So what is now bringing the attention of Democrats to this blatant problem? As Olbermann explains the twisted thinking, keeping tax cuts for America’s wealthiest would mean borrowing more.

Neither Olbermann or Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., hint that perhaps the U.S. government’s spending has been out of line. Instead, they now claim to be concerned about America’s mounting debt only after President Obama signaled a possible compromise with congressional Republicans.

Closing question: Even if Obama didn‘t compromise and the Bush tax cuts weren’t extended for America’s biggest taxpayers, does Olbermann honestly think the amount of foreign-held debt would decline? Puh-lease.

P.S. — Isn‘t it interesting that while tea partiers were staging protests around the country and Glenn Beck took to Fox News’ airwaves, urging fiscal sanity, decreased spending and more cost-cutting efforts to stem the tide of America’s growing debt, liberal pundits like Olbermann ignored them, claiming they were just dumb racists who hated Obama.

Apparently Olbermann has a very short memory.

    I would like to sue all of these “journalists” who use the term “tea ******” instead of tea party patriot. I feel that they are being purposely demeaning and just plain rude. This is causing me mental distress and I think I need to be compensated for it.

    Axelrod said this morning on Fox that the Democrats weren’t changing their course because of political reasons. Still lying to the AMERICAN people. I don’t guess that the Democrats will ever learn. Besides you can’t trust them anyway. They are a lot like Muslims in regards to telling you what you want to hear, to gain your trust.

    They may be able to get the stupid Americans to believe they can screw the people who trusted us, but the Chinese know better, they helped spin the web. Unfortuneately the Chinese produce top math students while the usa has fallen to twentyfifth. isnt it great to feminize education and get trounced by the world. Restore the family, restore the rights of young men, and stop the failed social experiments.
    Experiment?? no, they intentionally hobbled the young men for the last 3 decades, just to prove their bs theory of sexual equality. thats true of everyuthing, they identify disparities between groups, blame it on some social bs, find out they cant improve the losers, so they must crush the successful, you know, just to ensure fairness. look where we are as a society. idiots!!!

    Olbermann should have stayed at ESPN, there he at least knew what he was talking about. The ONLY reason that the Dems hate the tax cuts are…they have already spent the money they were going to get from the tax hike on the “rich”. $250k isn’t rich. Warren Buffet is rich, Bill Gates is rich, that doesn’t mean their taxes should be raised either.

    It‘s a little late for this isn’t it? Especially since they are responsible for most of the debt. Is anyone else concerned over the part of the continuence of the Bush tax bills that the GOP agreed to? It is another stimulous bill actually. Where do we draw the line for unemployment benefits? How can we keep track of those that draw it without attempting to look for a job? I realize that they are in a financial bind, but somehow these extentions will eventually have to stop, we simply do not have the money. What a mess this country is in. I just wish more people had enough pride to lower their living standards instead of milking the government and the tax-payers. I am sure not all are doing so but I do know of several personally. It makes me sad to think anyone would do so at the expence of destroying our nation, without regard for thje consquences.

    The elite Democrates and President Obama’s persona seems to me to be un-American. It is frustrating to me to hear the words of President Obama. At lest Sec. Clinton recognizes that the debt is a national security issue. Why does it take so long? I’m looking for a leader out there and it can come from either party, but have the best interests of America at heart. Not take the country down. I’m confused these days. I was taught that patriotism was a virtue and I think the Dems have forgotten this. I don’t want a one world government. I want a republic and have my cross closer to home. Then maybe I can understand it better. Don’t bail out California with taxes coming from Hoosiers. Leave my state alone and let California go down on their own accord. Let us be fair. Please, let us be fair. I want the Federal government to stay out of my state.

    Tax rates should be raised for everyone.
    The Federal budget should be cut 40% across the board.

    We are past the point for moderate solutions that satisfy everyone a little. The only reason you wouldn‘t concede that taxes must increase AND spending must be cut is if you’re trying to collapse the system.

    We’re trading the long-term for very modest short-term gains.

      I agree…partially…I think the low and middle classes need to be paying “some” taxes. As it stands they pay no taxes at all. Everyone needs some skin in the game. But…I think the point now is that you should never raise any taxes in a recession. More will be done by the cuts. If the government can prove its seriousness by making drastic cuts and closing many of the excessive bureaucratic departments, pulling the US out of ALL foreign lands,and creating a budget and a plan, and start tackling the major problems like SS, Medicare, Obamacare…Then I would not be adverse to paying a bit more to help my country get out of the hole. This problem can right itself faster than we might believe, the US can still generate obscene amounts of revenue.

      But…Right now we see through this tactic. Heck, I made the same response the Blaze makes in this article to COG yesterday. Said the same exact thing to his comment that China owns too much of our debt and extending the tax cuts to the rich is going to drive us even deeper into debt. This must be a talking point in the lib media…It is a stupid talking point, they were not very concerned about our massive debt until now. While the tea parties have been marching and protesting this insane spending they have been scoffing. But NOW it is suddenly a problem? Whatever…But taxing the people is putting the cart before the horse. Make the cuts FIRST! When they get serious about solving this thing then we will too. Or else we will simply wait it out till 2012 and hope the situation arises where we can start solving this thing.

      40% is a bit aggressive. It would probably be too much of a shock to the system.I do believe that everyone should pay first and foremost, no exceptions. That way everybody has skin in the game

    They must have figured out that our Dollar is worthless. They must also know that if foreign countries cannot get value for their investments, thay may want to take it out of our hide in the form of natural resources. Especially precious metals and fossil fuels.

    I read this stuff and get so frustrated. How can anyone not see right through this BS? We can’t even watch clips of Olbermann without laughing or just shaking our heads in disbelief.

      I want to know
      1) when it became a crime to think as an individual? And
      2) when did it become a disease if you aren’t the same as the next man?
      3) How did it end up, that one persons choice is an act of terrorism to another?

      We all go to school and learn to respect each other’s differences, only to find, that those who are most different get treated better than the so called average Joe.

      We get taught co-operation……only to be told that you have to cover your own a** and look out for number one when we enter the workforce.

      We used to be taught history, and we used to learn the lessons from the mistakes of generations past……..now, the past is categorized as too racist to teach even those who were oppressed throughout that same history.

      Nations used to be too proud to ask for help, and gracious when it was given without obligation……..now, country’s and peoples who once admired the west, now despise us all due to government bailouts of banks and the funneling of currencies to the UN.

      All I have to say is this;

      if the “left” can tell the “right” that it is racist, then why has the right not made the point that racism towards WHITE people is ALSO a MAJOR cause of the reality that is modern international politics?

      If you added up the numbers, you’d actually find that white people ARE the MINORITY on this earth, and ALWAYS have been. If this is true, and we can also add the fact that white people geologically were far removed from their black relatives in Africa, you’d have to ask one question;

      Who was forced out of their homeland, and why, when humans left Africa for the European/Mediterranean nations? Would it be safe to say, white people, being the fist “different’ people on the face of the earth, were racially profiled, and then herded out of the motherland by the tribal elders of the African continent? I say, yes!

      One last thing………if the tea party is racist, then, why is it that they can acknowledge the white mother of Obama, which clearly makes him a white man, while the democrats only acknowledge that he is the first “African American” president???????

      You can’t deny one half, while acknowledging the other half and praising it above all else. It is impossible, and most importantly, racist, to deny ones ancestry…………and the LEFT does it EVERY DAY when they call the tea party racist for disliking Obama for allegedly being “the fist African American president” while refusing to acknowledge the fact that the tea party knows that Obama’s mother was a white woman, who hated white people, and who went out of her way to befriend enemies of the united states of America………to me, their position is more racist than any colonial slave owner ever could have been.

      Very simple fix. Nancy Pelousy has the cure. We need everyone to be on the unemployment roles as they are the driving force of the American economy. What I can’t figure out is how before unemployment insurance was created the US economy grew so large? Any of you progressive dolts out there have the explanation.? please try stating the explanation without calling me names and hurting my feelings

      How is it that most of the politicians against this bill now claim they have to read it before they vote. Well where was that behavior with the health care vote?? Also, the concern for the debt is only now being expressed by the Dems now that the debt is out of control on their watch. Pathetic!!!
