Denver Occupiers Storm Conservative Blogger Conference, 1 Arrested

More than a dozen Denver Occupiers staged an invasion of the conservative blogger conference, BlogCon 2011, in downtown Denver Friday afternoon. At least one man was led away in handcuffs.
In addition to harassing radio host Tony Katz during a live broadcast, the man arrested also reportedly shoved a police officer who was trying to clear the lobby of the Crowne Plaza hotel, where the conference was being held.

The disruption came as no surprise to attendees, however, as Occupy Denver had been advertising their intention to ambush the conference on Twitter.
The Denver Post adds:
Tabitha Hale, new media director of the conference, said Blogcon was prepared for the onslaught and had purchased Milk Bones earlier in the day for Occupy Denver’s elected leader, a 3-year-old Border Collie named Shelby.
‘We’ve known they were coming for a couple of days,” she said.
The disruption began around 2 p.m. during a data visualization seminar in one of the ballrooms. A few of the protesters tried to charge the ballroom doors to get inside. There was shoving and pushing, Hale said.
But people attending the conference had already started to notice unusual activity by a number of people in the hotel’s lobby and they began to film them, said Peter Michael Dominic Ingemi, a talk show host.
“They started bantering back and forth,” he said. “We all had video. They were filming us and we were filming them.”
The Occupiers screamed, “We are the 99 percent” to which the Blogcon attendees replied, “We want the dog!”
“They tend to blame us because they think we are running the world,” Hale said. “They shoved and pushed a few people …it was rough. I was not expecting them to charge us. I don’t know if they are coming back.”
Earlier in the day, Denver police spoke with protesters who have been sleeping in Civic Center for the past month.
Officers handed out flyers explaining that their property was violating a city ordinance and blocking the right of way for public works.
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson did not know what items were in violation or where they were causing a problem in the park.
About 25 people removed their property and some left the park.

I would love to smash their expensive cameras & little cell phones. Those cameras are their power. But we don’t kill people. That’s not who we are. Depending on the number of attackers (protestors) who storm into a building there are alternatives. Lock the doors… all of the doors. No-one in or out. If “we” outnumber them, you form a circle or line blocking them from being able to move. Lock arms, like they do, (as in Red Rover) & prevent them from moving. Let them scream or chant. Respond with utter silence. Spray paint is an amazing deterrent. Other Countries use it to mark protestors & go after them later. If they outnumber us, we need to stand & move. Quietly, no words spoken. Reclaim the territory & the venue….like training a dog. Square shoulders, full height, chest out, arms plastered to our sides & move them out like herding cattle. But utter silence must be maintained on our part. There is no reasoning with these spoiled anarchists. They wish to act like animals, treat the like animals.

Either parents gave permission for their child to go protest, or the the teacher took them without the parent’s permission. I’d be furious if they took my child around those crazy people. I’m guessing parents of these students had no idea the class trip was to attend the disruption of a conference. The reporter was right on the moeny – taking children into a potentially hostile environment is unacceptable. If my kid was taken down there without my knowledge and permission, heads would roll.

If my kid was one of those students I would be filing a complaint with the police for kidnapping or contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and I would be talking to the principle of that school and the school board. Just to pile on I would talk to a lawyer about a civil lawsuit against the school board, the principle, and the teacher. Normally that would be going way overboard for me but I am so tired of these “teachers” pulling this kind of garbage. It’s time that parents make it clear to everyone that this will no longer be tolerated. Try teaching for a change.

If it doesn’t frighten you as to how they codified an attempt to develop a morals free, trained and armed force loyal only to the president you should really think it through. Low self esteem, little parental guidance, susceptible to peer pressure, and ethically challenged. Expendable, programmable and plausibly deniable are three other descriptions that would apply as well.
