Detroit Man Attempts to Turn Himself in for Double Homicide… Police Too Busy to Arrest Him

A Detroit man suspected of fatally shooting two men attempted to turn himself in on Saturday but, to his surprise, there were apparently no police officers available to take him into custody.

The shooting occurred at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Detroit, a city grappling with high crime rates. Witnesses said several people were attending a “social event” when the suspect, identified only as a 36-year-old male, lost his temper in an altercation, pulled out a gun and started shooting, WDIV reports. After the smoke cleared, two men were dead and two others wounded. The shooter fled the scene in his car.

About two hours after the shooting, Detroit police say the suspect arrived at a Detroit Fire Engine Station and said he was involved in the deadly shooting that night, seemingly turning himself in. The fire station called the police, expecting them to rush to the station to pick up the murder suspect. Instead, the police told them that area patrol units were too busy “handling high priority runs” and therefore “no units were dispatched to the location,” according to the report.

This allowed the suspect to actually leave the fire station on his own free will. Fortunately, the suspected shooter went directly to the 10th Police Precinct where he was finally taken into custody.

Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee announced late Saturday that the department would be launching an administrative investigation to figure out why the appropriate resources were not made available.

“Every effort to ensure that this person was taken into custody should have occurred,” Godbee said in a statement. “Therefore an administrative investigation will be conducted to determine if this police run was handled appropriately and to ascertain if there were any other patrol resources which should have been made available to respond to the Detroit Fire Engine Quarters.”

The two men who died in the shooting were identified only as a 23-year-old and a 37-year-old. Two other men, 19 and 34, were listed in serious condition Saturday, according to police.

After learning about the bizarre incident, Detroit Fire Department Senior Chief Lewis Roelans said, “Isn’t it ironic? You call for the police and even we can’t get them.”

No it is NOT a union thing! I live five blocks from the Detroit border, at Woodward and 8 Mile. It is the urban mentality. So many people and they are all too busy to do their job. Too busy doing what, you may ask. To busy playing the pity card, sitting on their bums, shooting each other. It’s a hell hole.

Our Governor offered the people of Detroit a deal. Let the state take over Belle Isle with a rental agreement of 99 years. After that, Detroit can have it back. Right now Belle Isle, once a place of beauty and fun, is full of hookers, drug dealers, trash and thugs. You would think the city of Detroit would jump at this, they have no money, they still keep Belle Isle, it’s a win win situation. NOPE! All the council ranted about is how whitey is out to take away one of “Detroit’s Jewels.” The Belle Isle deal is only one of many the Detroit council has turned down. All they want is for the state to give them more money and they want to handle their own problems. They have already shown the rest of Michigan they can’t handle anything.

Detroit and it’s people are hopeless. There is soooooo much racism (blacks hate whites) that they can’t see beyond their own hatefulness. I love Michigan, but Detroit is really and truly a hell hole.

Every city controlled by progressives suffers the same fate, they die.Detroit was destroyed by Coleman Young,he was mayor for thirty or forty years and his corrupt regime does what every corrupt regime does, they rape and pillage the town until there’s nothing left.Kwame Kilpatrick was another criminal mayor who recently got out of prison for his stellar performance as mayor.Bulldozing the entire city won’t help,it’s the criminals who rule the people that have destroyed it and changing the people is the only answer.

They should build a double row of 12-foot fences with razor wire around Detroit and not allow anyone in or out. Eventually most of Wayne County will be razed and replaced by trees.

      Above 696 – still ok

      696 s to 8 mile – ghetto

Below 8 mile – night of the living dead, they will kill you and eat you

Sounds about right. My wife was car jacked in Detroit and the thief wrecked my car. The police had my car in the impound for a month and would not let the insurance adjuster inspect it because it was “under investigation”. When I finally could get in my car I found the license of the person that stole it on the floor. Funny the police never found it. I tuned it in to them and nothing happened. Detroit is a carcase of a city.

It is not Detroit Police officers’ fault. It is the administration over the dispatch center and the government (City of Detroit) who dictate what and when they send police. Same for fire and EMS. Detroit has had a failed dispatch system since the 1970′s. Think Coleman A. Young and, of course, the Democrats who have controlled Detroit for over 5 decades.

the sooner everyone realizes that 90% of police cant be trusted to even obey the traffic laws they use to fill the state bank accounts! they lie, cheat and steal. they use excessive force everyday! and get away with it I will add! we dont hold police to the same standard as our special forces in the military, and if we did none of them would make the cut! so we put cops on the street withless self-control and disipline they we do troops on a battle field! so they can shoot and beat our own people! some of us military trained people find local city, state and county law officers a joke. It would be laughable if they werent killing our own innocent people, and most of america falling right behind these dirt bag cops to support them. they are just another union stealing from us.

I know, just the fact of a man who admits to shooting and killing two people, wants to turn himself in and then the police do nothing; typical of Democratic influences over the decades.

Now I have to admit; he turned himself in and it speaks for him, it does not justify murder.

I did not buy as we have these people every year but I did invite her in because she said she was from Detroit. Asked her why she was in Texas with the folks she was with and she told me that crime is so bad in Detroit that if it is known you have a job and have money you can be killed. Yes, she was a minority and that was as said 3 years ago. Easy pickins for Obama (some people just have no way out). Tell me, please how Hillary Clinton, an exceedingly wealthy woman managed to give them crumbs while she made millions and yet they vote Democrat then and now? Crumbs for a vote.
