Update: Hostages Released, Suspect in Custody After Ariz. Mall Shooting

Update:

Two hostages have been released and one man taken into custody after a violent stand-off with police ended Wednesday afternoon outside of an Arizona mall.

The hostages, two female employees of a nearby Baja Fresh, were released unharmed and the gunman was apprehended after barricading himself inside the restaurant chain for more than an hour.

As we reported earlier, Daniel Perez, a wanted fugitive who was mistakenly released from jail last month, positively identified by an undercover task force who exchanged gunfire with the suspect outside the Chandler Fashion Center. But now, police are claiming the hostage-taker was not Perez. Instead, the gunman has yet to be identified by authorities. Perez‘s whereabouts remain unknown and it’s not clear if he was involved in Wednesday’s episode at all.

Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated from the mall when shots were fired outside the mall. (Click here to see video captured from inside the mall as shoppers were evacuated.)

———-

Police in Chandler, Ariz., have converged on a fast food restaurant near the Chandler Regional Mall after Daniel Perez, a man facing armed robbery charges who was mistakenly released from jail in mid-December, exchanged gunfire with undercover authorities early Wednesday. Fortunately, no one was injured in the shootout.

The local Fox affiliate reports that the nearby mall has been evacuated and several officers have positioned with guns drawn, surrounding a Baja Fresh restaurant. An armored vehicle is also on the scene and a tactical team has reportedly set up inside a nearby furniture store. Police have not yet entered the restaurant.

If I read this right, Perez is still on the loose and may have had nothing to do with this crime. They arrested another criminal in the hostage situation & the hostages are free. Shots were fired OUTSIDE of the mall & they told people to evacuate the mall (go outside). This is totally screwed up. So where is the illegal alien, Perez, who was released from jail by accident?

Psytoxic, I think many of those on this blog are being paid to incite violent reactions, present violent reaction ect, and therefore
make this site look like all those here do the same. Wonder how much those guys get paid?
I suspect it is coming out of a million dollar bank account.

I see this trend of mall mobs as a way to disrupt our “market places”. The mall is the perfect place to mess with people and make them feel unsafe.

I’m sure George W. Bush must have been responsible for this, somehow…

Bet the mall has a no gun policy! Best place to go if you are the perp. Only you will have a gun till the police finally get there.

This man, Perez, has been arrested multiple times. He was in jail for shooting a State Trooper and he was let OUT by mistake. He is here illegally they say. He has been in shootings prior to this and they were supposedly looking for him. There are conflicting reports and some say he was being watched and they had him cornered and he ran.

The other shooting in Arizona at the school….one dead and one critical and may not survive. Air lifted out by Medivac copter.

Which is worse? Letting him out by mistake or waiting for Arnold to pardon him?

How can someone mistakenly release a prisoner that is mindblowing in my opinion. I hope this ends peacefully or the bad guy gets killed.

I’ve been surprised and disgusted at how often I see the desire for death and violence on this site. You give the lefties all the excuses they need to say the we are violent and warmongers.

Be careful, the police are increasingly the bad guys these days.

And don’t give me that, “it’s just a few blah, blah, blah.” as that is BS.

IF there were any good cops, they’d be arresting and turning in their corrupt colleagues for prosecution instead of lining up behind them and helping to cover up their crimes.

Wow did our wonderful eurocratic government make a mistake and release the wrong inmate??? Shocker….Hope my grandma does not mistakingly end up on the “end of life” list. I am sure big sis Napalitano will be all over this one? Should we have government ownership of the malls or Baja Fresh first?

I noticed that his last name was Perez. I do not want to jump to conclutions, but I have to ask if he is an illegal? How was it that he was mistakenly released? Also, what were the original charges and details of his arrest? Without that info it is difficult to give my full opinion other than to say I am thankful that no one was injured and that he was apprehended.

Perez was probably offended by being called an Illegal Immigrant so I’m sure they had no choice to release him…dont want to violate his rights. hahaha

Better start the MSA (Mall Screeners Admin) fast. I say naked shots of all the shoppers and a pat down just before your burrito at Baja Fresh.

Thankfully he was captured, again, without anyone getting hurt. Sadly, another police officer lost his life in Oregon today being shot by a suspect during a struggle at a call in a stereo store. This marks the second officer this year killed in the line of duty.
These are the consequences when there is no respect for the law, such as the blind eye the government and progressives have been giving to illegal immigration.
