Did a Chicago Protester Admit He’s Being Paid To Occupy Chicago?

Maybe it’s nonsense. Maybe it’s real.

Questions of authenticity aside, here are the facts: this recently-released video features a protester near what sounds like the Occupy Chicago protest claiming that he is being paid $22 an hour (plus overtime) to “volunteer” in Chicago (the $22 an hour admission occurs at the 2:49 minute mark in the video below).

That  raises all sorts of possibilities.

First of all, he could indeed be a paid protester, which raises the question: who is paying him? Additionally, if he is being paid $22 an hour (plus overtime) to protest against corporate greed, are all protesters being paid at that rate?

And if so, who has pockets deep enough to finance all of this?

If not, that is if the man in the video is only part of a select few being paid, what will happen when the other unpaid protesters find out that some of them are making bank by marching against “corporate greed?”

Secondly, there is the possibility that the man was talking about being paid for a different activity all together — that he came to Chicago to be a paid volunteer for something else and just happens to have joined the protests on the side.

And finally, there’s the possibility that he has been planted to undermine to the authenticity of the Occupy Chicago crowd. You’ll notice, for example, he’s not by the main protesters.

If so, who put him there? Who is paying for him to do that?

      Working Families Party has an ad on Craig‘s List stating that they’ll pay $350 to $650 a week for people “qualified” to attend these protests. The left just can’t help itself. This is what they’ve done for decades. They’re professional protesters.

      Hey look here, this guy is practicing a little capitalism, his sign is generating a little capital. Everyone needs to start somewhere.

      What do you think he will do with his money, put it back in the economy, smokes, booze maybe some food, maybe a cell phone, maybe rent, Ahh the gifts of the American freedom. Its amazing some of us take the easier softer way and some us get real jobs. But really it does not matter he is capitalizing anyway you look at it.       The Blaze is stupid to even consider reporting on this. Unfounded speculation backed up with no evidence and showing a clear disconnect with what it means to demonstrate. I challenge anyone to even translate his last sentence.

      I appreciate the attempt to seem bi-partisan, but for real… horrible journalism. Speculating either side of the fence is still speculating and really doesn’t solve anything.

      To everyone commenting on this,
      You can’t call the occupiers homeless, jobless liberals and then argue they are getting paid $22 an hour plus overtime by some allusive benefactor… That would constitute a job.

      Pick a story and stick to it, Blazers – I want to be able to laugh in your face when you’re wrong!

    As the financial supporters are revealed, the gross debauchery in some locations exposed, the unfocused reasons and motivations for occupying become evident; the liberal media and liberal politician hype stands out as being shallow, bereft of any consequence or any real benefit to anyone. In other words a waste of broadcast time to report on people loitering in public as though it were somehow important.

      I would love to face off Pelosi and fellow travelers and have them explain why it is okay that these people they support are “good”, even though they don’t clean up after themselves and have displayed nearly every variety of depravity. Yet the Tea Partiers manage to protest without arrests or depravity and clean up after themselves are “bad”. Evil and even dangerous by liberals standards. The world is truly upside down.       I hate to burst your bubble, but I have extensive experience with RFID. There is no reader known to man kind that can track you (positionally) with RFID. If you have a big enough antenna in doorways you can track people going in and out of a building, but no way to see who is in a city. For RFID a general rule is every time you double the distance away from the reader the signal drops off by a factor of 4. The incredible amount of metal in buildings and cars as well as the position of the cards in the field that was generated are all prohibitive to a system of that nature. Therefore, can they be used to scan individuals entering a doorway or portal such as in an airport? Yes. Track your movements (with the exception of internally powered “active tags” not RFID)? No, absolutely not with human technology.

      The chips in animals are read with a hand-held SCANNER ( I have a relative who is a veterinarian), and cell phones are powered by their INTERNAL batteries. I think it’s safe to take the tin-foil hat off.

      I think the reporter missed a golden opportunity the man is holding a sign say “WE ALL SHOULD PAY FOR THE U.S.A.. And most of the people involved in his protest pay nothing and recieve the most….HMMMM. I’m against the wall stret bailout I believe the only way to fix the system is allow it crash. I also understand that the entire mortgage meltdown is a direct result of putting alot of red tape into the market via the CRA regulations under Clinton. That being said a lot of the 865,000,000,000 bail out was paid back. However every year year in this Country entitlement (personal bailout) are shelled out and nothing is ever paid back. SO WHAT‘S WORSE ONE TIME 865 BILLION BAILOUT THAT’S PAID BACK OR AN ANNUAL 865 BILLION ENTITLEMENT NEVER PAID BACK AND IS STILL GROWING.

    Certainly they’re being paid. I’ve been to several Tea Parties, No Free Food, nobody paid, no medical center, no newspaper, no communists and we left each place cleaner than when we arrived..
