Report: Iranian General Calls for Wiping Israel ‘Off the Map’

Following Iranian scientist Dariush Rezaiinejad‘s assassination, Pajamas Media’s Reza Kahlili is reporting that Basij Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naghdi wants Israel destroyed. According to Kahlili, Naghdi has claimed that protecting Iran’s security is dependent upon wiping the “Zionist region” “off the map.” In response to Rezaiinejad’s death, Naghdi allegedly said:

“The main plot for this criminal act was conceived by the American government, and since it is scared of the reaction by the Muslim world due to the uprisings in the region, it had the Zionist regime commit the heinous act…we have no option but to have the Zionist regime wiped off the map.”

Naghdi was born in Iraq and he was a member of the Iranian Quds Force before being appointed to his leadership post in Basij back in 2009. The Basij is a volunteer military body that is generally comprised of young Iranians who receive official benefits for enlisting.

This isn’t the first time the radical general has been accused of advocating violence. Back in November 2010, The Blaze reported on the death of two other Iranian scientists. It was no secret then that the Iranian government placed blame on Israel for the deaths. It was then that Naghdi said that American generals would be targeted and killed in response to the scientists’ murders. Fox News has more:

In a speech published in Farsi at an Iranian website linked to the Revolutionary Guard, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Naghdi was quoted as saying that “the filthy Americans and the Zionists should not think that with killing our scientists, they can divert our nation from its path of Jihad and scare us.”

He continued with a specific threat: “We will mark the hanging sites of the American and Zionist generals and we will identify which hanging was in retaliation for the blood of our great martyr Shahriari.”

The new allegations — that Naghdi wants Israel wiped off the map — emerged after Rezaiinejad was gunned down outside of his Tehran home this past weekend.

Kahlili reports that mixed messages about the death have been coming from Iran’s state-run media outlets. He writes that the media first reported that the man was a physicist working on the nation’s nuclear program. Then, they purportedly changed course and began saying that he was merely a student studying for a master’s degree in electricity. NPR reports:

Iran says a scientist killed in Tehran over the weekend was not connected with the country’s nuclear program, but the daylight killing and recent announcements by Tehran of nuclear advances have renewed scrutiny of the country’s nuclear effort.

Iranian media said 35-year-old Darioush Rezai-Nejad was a promising graduate student. Officials speculated that his assailants — gunmen on motorbikes — may have confused him with a nuclear scientist with a similar name.

While the U.S. has denied any involvement in the incident, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has called the killing a “U.S.-Zionist terrorist act.” Tehran Governor General Morteza Tamaddon mirrored this sentiment, saying the following at Rezaiinejad’s funeral:

“Undoubtedly, this was an American-Israeli project against our intellectuals and thinkers with the aim of discouraging the Iranian nation from continuing the path it has taken.”

Although CBN is also carrying this story, The Blaze is still working to substantiate the statement about Israel’s demise in the original translation. Naghdi’s past comments, though, certainly indicate that this is a statement that jives with the general’s political ideologies. If true, this certainly isn’t the first time an Iranian official advocated wiping Israel off of the map.

If there is one lesson the Jews have taken from history it is this: When someone threatens to kill or destroy you, BELIVE THEM.       You could be right. Iran is massing up a lot of power against Israel. They are arming Hezbollah and Hamas. The target of their nuclear program is obviously Israel as well. They could cause great harm to Israel if all of that was unleashed. I believe that it will not be long before Hezbollah and Hamas mount an attack on Israel perhaps followed up by missile attacks from Iran.

      @JF10, yes it’s going to be nasty. China and Russia have an investment in Iran. Right now we control most of Iraq and Afghanistan but Pakistan has proven to be none trust worthy. Pakistan has a mutual defense treaty with China. They have the same treaty that Russia and China have with each other. It’s the BRICK Nations I believe we will be fighting. God forbid. Brazil, Russia, Iran, China and N. Korea. Venezuela may jump in as well but I’m hoping Hugo Chavez dies before then. I’m sure Argentina will reclaim the Falkland Islands. Turkey has already showed support for Iran. We have heavy hitters on our side but if it really goes down the world will be in flames for a while.

      I’ve often wondered how the Temple would be rebuilt on the site that the Dome of the Rock occupies. If a nuke took out the Dome, and Israel won the war (which they would), nothing to stop the Temple from being rebuilt. I was half expecting one of Saddam’s SKUDs to hit it during the first Gulf War.

      Find the relation of who wrote the Talmud and how it dictates Modern Judaism today. Modern Judaism (Pharisee) is not equal to old Judaism which brought the Messiah Jesus Christ. The Old Testament is as important as the New. Unfortunately many false religions have influenced interpretations making them truth in our generations for these false religions benefit. Modern Judaism does not worship the same God as Christians. Modern Judaism is still waiting for the Messiah, rejecting Christ (broken branches of Romans), following the Pharisees and worshipping and believing as a Pharisee. Christian’s God began Judaism  (belief of law to bring Messiah) which brought Jesus the Jewish Messiah who grafts us Gentiles into the Romans tree thru belief in Jesus. Christian’s God needs no new Temple. You are correct, Muslim fighting Jew is a fight of two non-believers. We should tell both to knock it off and follow Christ. Modern Judaism are Pharisees, not Jews. In reality, Jews are believers in the Jewish Messiah Jesus Christ like you and I.

      In the Muslim tradition, it is Ishmael, not Isaac, who is the true inheritor of the Covenant.

      To Muslims, quite simply, the Bible has corrupted what actually happened, the Koran has corrected it.

      Perhaps the best way to resolve this conflict is NOT to keep harking back to stuff that may or may not have happened thousands of years ago.

      Who are the broken branches of Romans? 
      Who is Paul talking of in verse 14 he was even trying to save? 

      Modern Judaism today is based off the Pharisees, the original rejectors of Jesus. 

      Both modern Judaism and Islam are belief in a false God..A god who has not yet sent a Messiah. Both are trying to pull the Christian to their belief and fight their fight with them against the other for a worldly Temple. A Temple a lot of Christians say is the anti-Christ’s temple. Why would Christians want a part of this? I am against neither as I am for neither. Neither believe in Jesus. 

      I condone persecution of no one. I also don’t believe believers should be partaking and standing for non-believers causes. I stand with Christ Jesus who grafted me into the seed of Abraham thru belief in Jesus. I therefore am a Jew and those rejecting Christ are broken off my family tree and are not a Jew and are not of God. 

      You want to help Israel and the Jews, teach them about Christ Jesus. Same with Muslims.
