Did a UFO Roll Through on D.C.’s Beltway Last Night? See the Pic

Under the cloak of darkness a strangely shaped vessel was transported on Washington, D.C.’s Beltway, causing some to question if it was a UFO.

Around 11 p.m. Wednesday evening, reports of a disc-shaped object carried on a flatbed truck making its way along I-270 and I-495 escorted by police began causing a ruckus on Twitter, MyFoxDC reports.

It wasn’t long before Maryland State Police set the record straight and confirmed what would be the next logical conclusion — that it was in fact a military drone and not a UFO. MyFoxDC reports the Northrup Grumman drone was being taken from West Virginia to the Patuxent Naval Air Station in Maryland.

Here are some of the tweets that came from the sighting last night:

Watch MyFoxDC’s report:

NBC Washington states Maryland police do not know exactly what sort of drone it was — although it is circulating that it’s a X-47B — but they do know it is 82 feet long, 32 feet wide and 14 feet high.

A similar event occurred late last year in Crowley County, Kansas. An X-47B drone was seen being towed along U.S. Highway 77 toward the Maryland naval base. Residents initially thought it was a UFO as well.

If this were supposed to be a secret, there would be a tarp over it. This thing is illuminated from underneath. This was done for show.

Wow. If this was an U(nidentified) F(lying) O(bject), shouldn’t it have been flying?
Oh, wait. It was an Unidentified Flatbed Object.
“I see something I don‘t recognize or can’t explain! Cue my mind’s inventory of pop culture mythology: Bigfoot? Nope. But he might be driving the truck. Vampire? Well, it is dark, but that’s one funky coffin. Werewolf? Nope. It would be chasing the truck and biting the tires. Ghost? Nope. Ghost trucks (truck ghosts?) only appear after midnight. UFO. Bingo. Breaker, breaker, good buddy! I’ve got E.T. on my rig looking for a pay phone! He says his glowing finger/shiny, bald head/silver jumpsuit plays hell with cell reception.”

So, has anyone asked the obvious question? Why are we making drones that DON’T fly? Why do they have to be driven to the AFB, not flown? My kids can fly their RC helicopters and planes, so why can they just plug in some pilot in Copper Mountain in Colorado and fire the thing up….they have to disrupt traffic on the Beltway for this! Commute times are already horrible, but now we have to deal with taking planes on flatbeds that normally fly on their own with pilots from thousands of miles away, but they can’t fly across town?

I believe the standard answer given is that it is difficult/dangerous to fly an unmanned drone through commercial airspace. Plus many of them are still experimental, not really something you want flying through commercial traffic or over populated areas.

It’s a test of the expanding domestic spying system. Like a trial balloon of sorts. It is lit from below to make it more obvious. If people get used to seeing them, there will be less problems and objections to the government when they really start spying on us in earnest. Phase one was getting us accustomed to having our personal space violated by the TSA. That was and is a smashing success. The sheep don‘t even know what’s really going on. Isn’t that great? Have a nice day.

P.S. Oh by the way, did anyone notice that the country is going to hell in a hand-basket? Just curious.

To MOMRULES, I don’t know what the official definition of a “base” is, but I looked at several locations on that map that are very familiar to me and there is no possible way for a drone to be based there; parked on a truck perhaps, but no runway. One other location I saw is a place where drones are manufactured (General Atomics Aeronautical Systems), but is it a base? Some other locations, however were legit, like at an airport. Calm down.

These drones look expensive. How much are they costing US anyway? Did Congress approve of this expenditure, or was it funded from the money that Obama cut from the military by laying off soldiers? Or did Obama simply “bypass Congress” like he did when he gave money to the Muslim Brotherhood?

And this administration is handling it like a Ten year old with a Chain Saw .
The United States has demonstrated its capability ,that should be enough .
Using it as an Intel. gathering tool is one thing but using it as if you are some sort of God that rains death out of no where will only breed hatred . There will be blow back.
