Did Al Sharpton Have a ‘Burtation’ on Live TV?

In February, the country held it’s collective breath when CBS 2 News (Los Angeles) reporter Serene Branson started speaking gibberish on live TV during a report after the Grammy Awards. Here’s the clip to refresh your memory:
Many people theorized afterwords that Branson had a stroke on-air. Luckily, however, it turned out just to be a severe migraine.
Since that clip emerged, there have been other examples of reporters devolving into gibberish. And on radio, Glenn has played them, and come up with a nickname for the phenomenon: he calls it having a “burtation,” which is one of the words Branson utters during her episode.
So when we saw the clip of Al Sharpton uttering such gibberish live on MSNBC on Tuesday, we just had to wonder: Did he have a burtation? While trying to rally the liberal troops in the Wisconsin Senate recall election, Sharpton devolved into this: “but resist we much… we must… and we will much… about… that… be committed.”
Hugh? Have a look:
So what was it? You can rest easy, as Sharpton’s burtation was apparently nothing more than flubbing the words on his teleprompter. It doesn’t point to any underlying health issues, then, but according to Mediaite, it does bring into question the decision to give him his own show:
It will be reinterpreted as proof of what most already know– that Sharpton is an entertaining ideologue, but that considering him enough of a journalist to have his own afternoon news show is, to put it mildly, a bit of a stretch.
