Did China Get Plans for Our Semi-Secret F-22 Raptor And Copy It? See the Alleged Pictures

Last week, the blog China Defense posted two photos, nearly identical, with only one line of text: “Just in case you might get confused, only one bird below is the J-20.”

(Image via China Defense)

(Image via China Defense)
Gizmodo magnifies the pictures and puts them side-by-side for a better comparison:
The J-20 stealth fighter is the creation of the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group for the People’s Liberation Army in China. About a year and a half ago, the People’s Liberation Army conducted its first tests of the aircraft, which is expected to be fully operational sometime between 2017 and 2019.
(Related: See the new pictures of China‘s ’Mighty Dragon’ J-20 stealth fighter)
If only one is a J-20, can you guess the other? According to Gizmodo and others, it is an F-22 Raptor. The two are eerily similar, no? The technology and design of the aircraft by Lockheed Martin, Gizmodo notes, is still largely secret. If that’s the case, what do the similarities between these two photos mean?

Closer up of the F-22 Raptor. (Image via Gizmodo)
Gizmodo speculates:
Looking at the comparison, it seems like they may have been some leaks. In fact, this comparison image is screaming espionage and reverse engineering with a 20,000-watt speaker right on Uncle Sam’s face. A 20,000-watt speaker made in China.
Defense Tech makes the same assumption. It also points out that this is the first time a picture has been shown of the J-20′s holographic HUD at this proximity.
Here’s a clip allegedly showing the J-20′s first test flight back in January 2011:
This Lockheed Martin video from Dec. 2011 describes more about the F-22 Raptor and shows some footage of it in flight:
What are your thoughts? Has the J-20 stolen some design elements from the F-22?

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 6:37pmWell, the F-22 has problems of it’s own, to the point where the manufacture of more of them has ended or is about to be. Last I read/heard, the F-35 was where joint-force were putting their money. However, I suspect that for what problems the F-22 had, the Chinese version is probably fraught with even more problems.

It wouldn‘t surprise me one bit but I wouldn’t put too much stock in anything Sibel Edmonds or Philip Giraldi say. Both of them were players in the Niger forgeries caper. Giraldi was a member of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity or VIPS for short. This is the group of disgruntled and retired CIA employees that Seymour Hersh suggested created the Niger forgeries, hoping Bush would run with them. They planned to discredit and embarrass Bush if he had used those forgeries as evidence that IRAQ had WMD. Hersh’s article was called “The Stovepipe” and published in The New Yorker, scroll about 2/3′s of the way down.

Seriously, let China waste their money on the J-20, it will continue to be inferior to the F-22, and the (S)F-X will blow both out of the air. I think we leak the plans to purposely cause China to have to spend its money to try and keep up with us.

He‘ll be drug to the AC and strapped in knowing if he doesn’t make the thing take off he’s a deader! I bet the ejection seat isn’t even activated to keep his arse in the thing to ride it down!
As I said above the Chinese have NEVER invented anything of any worth except for gun powder! ALL of their weapons of war were designed by other countries and either the plans were bought or stolen from the original makers! SO this POS might work but with all the Chinese crap in it I’ll give it to 20,000 feet or 10 hours flight time before it fails as the world has seen time and time again with baby toys to some things bigger like women’s “play toys” and their life expectancy or pulled from the market because they use the cheap[est and most dangerous chemicals or metals they can! Posted on June 5, 2012 at 12:41amTechnology is all in the details:
1. Materials – you can shape a part from two different metals and it will look the same but will act differently under stress.
2. Tolerances – you can’t judge from these pictures how close the tolerances even on the outside. These will be a crucial factor on performance.
3. Engine – both power and efficiency are important. There are Lamborghini and Ferrari lookalike car builders but they use at best modified Chevy engines which don’t come close to the original. The same goes for this plane.
4. Electronics – there’s no chance they have the same internal hardware and complex software. Add the ammunition, smart rockets and integration and you have two different beasts altogether.
It’s sad that people are so stuck up on being superficial, judging by the exterior. There are thousands of engineers who make the difference both by their ingenuity and by their dedication.

Everybody says that, but how would anyone know? The chinese have not displayed their tactics to the world continuously over the past 20 years, we have no way to know how good or how pathetically bad they are. think of this, How many US pilots have done any air-to air? How many against a skilled opponent? Vietnam was the last time there really was any significant mixing in air to air combat. To be self assured is a good thing, but to underestimate an enemy could be fatal. Also consider how many of our aircraft are flying on bootleg, chinese made parts.

Let me disect;
“How many US pilots have done any air-to air? How many against a skilled opponent?”
All the ones who fly the combat fighter aircraft, it is required in training. Additionally, do you think they just fly flight paths waiting for war? No, they have many exercises in which they take part in air to air combat with many different nations and aircraft.
“Vietnam was the last time there really was any significant mixing in air to air combat.”
See the above answer, and for those who say it isn’t the same…Pilots have the biggest egos, winning anything, even a training mission is bragging rights. (As for significant, I guess you could throw out the Gulf War.)
“Also consider how many of our aircraft are flying on bootleg, chinese made parts.”

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 10:15amMost do but have either a satellite or wifi connection to other computers(or mobile devices) so agents can access the system when not in the building. It’s through these portals that hackers get into. Bluetooth and most wifi connections are easier to hack into than normal firewalls. Did you know that if you use a bluetooth device the signal can be accessed by other devices? Also that if a person guessed your pin that they could forcibly transfer what’s on your phone to their device?

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 9:26amIf I were China, I would just fire my research development team and hire more hackers. It is probably cheaper and more successful. Then I would gather up enough campaign contributions to keep Obama in office who spills secrets for reelection purposes. Great strategy from China.

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 9:23amoh come on, of course obama has already sold our plans and codes to China, he‘s been embezzling our lost Trillions under the guise of redistributing it to his cronies and America’s enemies too.
look what he’s been promising Russia, to totally disarm America; look what obama also did, he gave Russia all of Britain’s nuclear codes; he disarmed Poland’s missle shield and left them defenseless.
.. obama intends to ghetto America into a 3rd World nation with as many millions of us pro-Americans murdered by his ‘private army’ as possible, and he intends to destroy us AND our Allies he sees as Colonialists and Imperialists. yeah, remember his sneering nod to his wife’s ”all this for a damn flag”…..
