We have all heard of little green men from Mars.

But now an American ‘armchair astronaut’ claims to have discovered a mysterious structure on the surface of the red planet – by looking on Google earth.

Did Google Geek Discover Space Station on Mars Surface?

David Martines, whose YouTube video of the ‘station’ has racked up over 200,000 hits so far, claims to have randomly uncovered the picture while scanning the surface of the planet one day.

The Sun:

He used the search giant’s maps of the astral body and his video has already clocked up a staggering 58,000 views.

David explains how he found the ‘space station’ or possibly ‘power station’ quite by accident at coordinates 71 49′19.73″N 29 33′06.53″W.

Unlike mountains and other features on the surface, the white ‘building’ appears to have blue and red stripes painted on it.

According to David’s calculations it is also huge – measuring 700ft long by 150ft wide.

    I rather doubt it is a station of any kind, and certainly not artificial. However, ya all need to slow your roll on asuming it is ice. The average atmoshperic pressure on the surface of Mars is below 10 millibars. Outside of the icecaps, ice has been observed to sublimate in day time (turn from solid straight to gas.)
    A mass of 700 x 150 feet, assuming a stable depth of 50 feet, would volume at a 5,250,000 cubic feet. Maybe then I could see it being ice, since not all of it would sublimate during the daytime, and the remainder would act as a seed for re-growth at night. So, yes… it might be ice.
    But it is not a space station. If I wanted to build a secret station anywhere, it would be under the actual ice cap (plenty of water, construction material, protection from radiation and micro-meteorites.) This guy makes the typical error of most conspiracy theorists, and that is in a miss-assesment of other intelligence. Which only makes him look stupid.

      I think that for all your conjecture, your claim is as feasible as that it IS a space station.

      Until you can prove it is NOT, then you are the only one who looks and sounds stupid.

    The possibilities are endless, I have seen pictures posted by the ESA of the Hale Crater in perspective that shows some pretty startling images that can not be disputed as other than constructed geometric layouts, maybe an entire city. Check it out yourself on utube. I think the the quire is “ mars civilization” and check out the Euopean Space Agency pictures, follow the instructions and check it out yourself.

    Yeah right…..anyone who owns a compuer can open a digital image of any size and any file type with ‘paint’ if using Windows.
    When you click on an image there is a menu that opens and one option says ‘Open with >’ …float the arrow over the ‘Open with’ …and a second Menu opens with a list of applications for phto images and one is ‘Paint’

    Paint allows anyone to open the image file. The larger the image size, the more you may have to zoom out to get the full picture on your screen.

    The neat thing about Paint is you can go in and change the individual colors of a single pixel! You can copy the color of one pixel of the original digital image and pop it into another pixel anywhere on the image! Or select from a huge palete of colors built into the Paint Application. Great for forgeries….until examined by even a novice. You can zoom in on the pixels that have been changed.

    This idiot has done just that and claims its a space station?

      I thought that too, but I went to both Google Mars and then to Nasa and found the same image at the listed coordinates. Did someone change the master source file? I for one would like for NASA to address this issue.

    It’s near the Martian southern pole, surrounded by other areas of white, so it’s most likely snow/ice in a break in the surface or a large hilltop.

      They talk of finding a space station on mars? Last millenium it was the “Face on Mars” mystery and all the wild theories abounding about it. So far as I can tell, it does not look like much of anything that can be recognized in solid 3D details to say yes it is or not.

      I honestly thought at first they found the ship Pelosi escaped from.

      Why not assume this is true, what your eyes see at first is a total anomoly on the surface of Mars? Why do you all think this is “looney-toons” just because it does not fit into your version of reality? Couldn’t there be something beyond your reality? COULDN’T there be?

      Do recall we have one remaining flight left on our space program. Many former astronauts were upset and NASA in general was not to happy. On the announcement of the space program shutting down those upset used Mars in every reason given to keep the program going. 

      Low level propaganda by those wanting to keep the program alive…

      You can see one or two pixels. Those are the parts of the image that look like squares. Digital images, zoomed, look like those little square you see in the middle of this white object. The rest was blurred in Photoshop or something similiar. Otherwise you wouldn’t being seeing pixel-like areas in a few places, and blurred areas in others. Zoomed digital images don’t look smooth. It’s a fake.

      Very unlikely that it’s a space station. Mars temperature and air isn’t the best for human life, not to mention that the Earth would notice if someone launched a space station to Mars. It could be China because they are going to take over the Space industry if we don’t get our attack together.

      If this is really on google earth, glad this guy brought it public,and this should be easy to check out. Either some at google is havng a really great time of it or it can be clarified with high resolution Mars maps at NASA.

      It’s a marketing strategy. Should the site just post all right leaning, political articles, only right leaning people will find it and know about it. Throw into the mix a few articles that may not be political and you draw in more viewer-ship that may stay and learn something from the political articles. Throw on some crazy shock videos and you draw in curious college kids wanting to see someone driving into a tornado and they may come across an article about how marijuana should be legalized and that’ll lead them to discover other articles that may change their mind…. or at least give more hits and revenue for the website.

      I personally think it‘s an acceptable method and if you don’t like these topics, no one is forcing you to click and read it. They own the site and can choose what content they put up, who are you to tell them otherwise? I don’t mind the occasional fluff piece.

      I discovered a geoglyph of two entwined serpents and numerous other anomalies in southeastern Oregon by looking at Google Earth.

      The Caduceus Geoglyph is about a mile long. I also discovered a geoglyph of a bird in the same area.

      All of these geoglyphs can only be seen from about 10,000 ft in the air, similar to the Nazca Lines in Peru.

      I suspect that there are extraterrestrial origins, or that ancient people had aircraft or some other flying vehicles.

      Arrow-shaped Lake Navigation Marker that points directly to Bird geoglyph (how I found it)

      There appears to be gigantic ancient geoglyphs ALL OVER this area of Oregon.

      These ancient people had knowledge of the electromagnetic field as evidenced by the Caduceus Geoglyph which shows two entwined serpents with a waveform emanating from between the heads of the serpents…
