Did James Carville Just Reveal the Democratic Strategy If Obamacare Is Overturned?

Are the Democrats expecting to lose the battle over healthcare? Judging from the comments made by several prominent Dems, the party is prepping for what to do after the high court shoots down the individual mandate.

Two days ago, former DNC Chair Howard Dean told CBS Early Morning that he expected the individual mandate to be overturned.

Yesterday, CNN’s Legal Analyst Jeffry Toobin called the proceedings “a train wreck” and predicted that the individual mandate will “likely be struck down.” If true, how will the Democrats then spin the defeat to their benefit? Enter James Carville.

Carville Reveals Democrat Strategy if Obamacare Loses

Last night on CNN, the Democratic consultant made a curious statement about what happens if the Supreme Court rules against the administration. He appears to already be ratcheting up the anti-Republican and anti-Supreme Court rhetoric in preparation, even tying a possible Obamacare defeat to the Bush-Gore election of 2000.

Consider Mr. Carville’s words regarding a potential defeat in the Supreme Court (after saying a defeat would be the “best thing” for Democrats because of rising health care costs):

“They overturned an election. And just as a professional Democrat, there’s nothing better for me than they overturn this thing 5-4. And then the Republican Party will own this health care system for the foreseeable future. … Go see Scalia when you want health care.”

In other words: the Supreme Court gave the country Bush, and now it’s going to take away your health care.

“This is not spin,” he reassured.

Really?

Yeah and Harry agrees with Carville, so automatically we should believe it: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2012/mar/reid_overturn_obama.html

But if the arguments that are made in court are not great anti-Obama campaign ads, I don’t know what is.

In short what Carville is saying is: “Let’s try intimidating the supreme court”. This is truly a professional left in complete panic. Carville was the same “bright spark” that deemed conservatism dead with the election of Obama. Then the 2010 midterms came along….. Perhaps Nosferatu Carville should keep his veiled threats to himself?

“The self-executing rule began in the 1930s” -wiki <<< Surprised the 30s?

Some analysts have questioned the constitutionality of the self-executing rule.[4] Some lawyers and public advocacy groups cite the 1998 Supreme Court case Clinton v. City of New York relating to the line item veto,[9] and the 1983 case Immigration and Naturalization Service v. Chadha 462 U.S. 919 (1983) relating to the legislative veto to support these claims.[5][10] Others point to a 2006 case before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia regarding the Deficit Reduction Act, which, in part, ruled in favor of the self-executing provision.[4][11] That ruling was upheld on appeal in 2007, but never argued before the Supreme Court

"If the full House votes to approve a legislative rule that contains such a provision, the House then deems a second bill as also approved without requiring a separate vote, as long as that second bill is specified in the rule. "

This pumpkin Carvel is just another ideologue! I am quite frankly sick and tired of them blaming everything under the sun on conservatism. Democrats have done their fair share in this debacle, as have some Republicans; we need to restore sanity, fiscal restraint, and use logic and facts to fix what is broken with America. Communism/Socialism is NOT the answer; just take a gander over the ponds to see the failures there! We are not perfect either, because no man, or govt can be perfect, but Capitalism is the best thing around. We are not under true Capitalism now, more like crony capitalism or an oligarchy. The Constitution is the answer, not huge govt bureau’s which is akin to tyranny, we need the individuals to stand up and be smart and productive. Sure we need some regulations, but not these monstrosities like HR 3200 or Dodd-Frank. We need good sound logical and small articles, so everyone can understand them, then enforce them! We need to study real history and science, not this emotional tug called ‘climate change’, we all know the climate changes. There is a big disc in the sky that affects our climate, man‘s activity can’t change it but so much – unless you are speaking of a global thermal nuclear event. Let’s get real people!

Carnevell may be partialy right but I think he has missed two main issues. Many Democrats are embarrassed of our party. Myself, wife, 3 sons and 3 daughter in-laws all fell for Hope and Change. We all have been affected by Obama and won’t vote for him in Nov. My sons construction Co. has so much Fed. paperwork that 1 of my sons is always in the office. When Bush was in it was to pay bills and do payrole. My sons have had to hire an accountant to do that and jump thru hoops. The other thing the Dems will lose is the Latino vote by attacking this Zimmering who was protecting himself.

LIB TEACHER…..let me do for you…what you fail to do everyday…educate. The CBO just released it’s new numbers on Obamacare. It’s now citing the cost as $1.76 trillion. You’ll recall (if you’re honest..not likely..but one can still hope) that Obama crowed about getting this in under $1 trillion dollars when he signed this disaster into law? Critics didn’t believe it was possible in light of the budget tricks, three card monty cost hiding and moving and pay offs throughout Obamacare. You simply cannot put 30 million additional people on Medicaid which is already staring at insolvency at the rosier than rosy budget projections and sleight of hand tricks the democrats and Obama were bandying about. So in less than 3 years LIB TEACHER…the cost of Obama..per the CBO…has nearly doubled and it hasn’t even started yet. No really…tell us again about costs sweetie.

oh and LIB TEACHER…please explain this curious provision in Obamacare:

Section 6001 of the health care law effectively bans new physician-owned hospitals (POHs) from starting up, and it keeps existing ones from expanding. What possible benefit is there to the American people by inhibiting the choice to go to physician owned hospitals? This provision was lobbied for by the American Hospital Association (read: heavily unionised) and the democrats and Obama were happy to oblige a generous supporter with some government strongarming of their competition.
Yes what a superlative idea by Reid, Pelosi and Obama (with the help of the unions) throw thousands of contruction workers out of a job and make it harder to get quality health care at the same time. You really know how pick ‘em LIB TEACHER.

I’d say if the Republicans own this thing then lets take it all out, go back to the beginning, and pass a law that makes sense and is about 50 pages long. If the federal government would stay out of the state’s business and lead by making sure we can buy health insurance across state lines, real in the malpractice suits, and keep the government out of regulating anything beyond safety then our costs would go way down! I am a dumb hick from the country & even I know these people are crossing the line when the line is our constitution.

Its one thing to want the government to provide Health Insurance where if you break your leg or get cancer or something, the health insurance helps cover part of it. But wanting the government to provide Health Care, all the routine basic stuff, physicals, wellness testing, colds, flu, cuts, scrapes, seat cramps, high stool, thats TOTALLY different, and wildly expensive. The Democrats are just a party of angry, dysfunctional , anti-capitalists who have been screaming “ stolen election” as a prelude to all of their bullying since that infamous section. Not content with being told “ no ” by the majority of the electorate, they have since pushed policies to destroy American capitalism , to weaken our military, to heighten civil unrest through union mobs / Occupy anarchists/ racially inflammatory rhetoric, and to open our borders to more potential “ takers” who will help them destroy the ” system.” We do not need to fear our foreign enemies. We have the Democrats who seem to be bent on destroying American capitalism which will then destroy our future and our safety. ObamaCare ( the so-called “ Affordable Health Care Act ” – another Democrat 99% Big Lie ) is just another example of their War on Capitalism. Just another economic disaster, like home loans to the “poor/ minorities, which will collapse the system because it will not work. Just another Economic Disaster that they will foist on the gullible American public, and then Blame Capitalism when it – like their other nefarious economic schemes – blows up in disaster. The New Democrat Marxist Party : an economic disaster for American Capitalism. Just another so-called “New” Party which is clearly aimed at destroying the America we have always known. Not “change.” Destruction.

They were relying on this case to break the back of the Constitution now then in 0bama’s hopeful second term to go ahead and finish it off. Wolf Blitzer really attacked Verrilli yesterday afternoon and it seems that the media will certainly lay blame at his feet for loosing this ‘historic’ case. They will do whatever it takes to shovel the blame away from the administration. You’re right about expecting some other rabbit to be pulled out of the hat.

Not so certain that that is what is going on. I believe that the administration twisted and turned so many ways to get this thing passed that they said whatever was necessary at the moment. Problem with their strategy is always that they will eventually paint themselves into a corner. Look at the “It’s a tax, it’s not a tax” verbage. They aimed their argument at whoever was in front of them. Now they have to defend this behemoth with everyone in the country watching. They are no longer whispering in this congressman’s ear or promising that congressman something antithetical. They are desperate to remain balanced on top of the fence but they are exposed now from both sides. In short, they can’t have it both ways.

Agreed. They really screwed themselves by dropping their argument about taxation because they felt it would be a better political move to have this fight now. Fact of the matter is that the analogy to taxation would be the best chance that the Health Care bill has to be upheld. Paying taxes is an affirmative act that the government requires of its citizens and which it penalizes them for not doing. In that sense, the Health Care law isn’t much different from taxation — it also requires citizens to take an affirmative action or face a penalty.

LIB TEACHER….Obama even tried “it’s not a tax per se” to tippy toe his way around not telling the American people he just raised taxes on them. They couldn‘t argue that it’s a tax because the Federal government can’t tax Americans for not buying a product. Is this too difficult for you? You insult all Americans by reciting your talking points about “take an affirmative action”. It’s a totally flawed argument to say “you’ll eventually need health care so you must be forced to buy insurance”. I know people who are uninsured and simply pay cash when they visit a physician..yes even for surgeries. Places like the Mayo clinic offer payment plans to their patients who are uninsured. There are free market, viable alternatives everywhere there’s just no credible reason to have the government coerce you into buying health insurance or pay a penalty..or is that a tax..or is that not a tax per se?

If you look at it, passing of BOcare will put us in a position not only to have a dictator, but we’ll likely be a communist country. No doubt there’s a back up plan, or a HUGE new crisis looming…invented of course.
These people feed of satanic activity in my opinion, wily, slimy, sneaky lies upon lies until the truth is buried so deep only remnants remain.

The whole thing Dole won Florida was a lie, so the whole argument is built on a lie. To bad liberals are to stupid to understand a lie when they are told one. It’s strange, since all they do is lie, you would think they would recognize lies better than most.

The Democrats have a plan in case they lose and a plan if they win the case…both focussed on the reelection of Obama. We also have plans for whether we win or lose the case.

Plan one: If we the people lose and ObamaCare is upheld, we will turn out even more to defeat Obama and as many Democrats we can so we can repeal this thing and then demand reigning in the out of control Administrative, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government.

Plan two: if we the people win and ObamaCare is declared unconstitutional, see plan One.

I’m mulling something over……..if O Care is over-turned in its entirely (one can dream, right?),

      http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/28/us-usa-healthcare-court-idUSBRE82L1CJ20120328

Will the leftist machine gain advantage since that issue will have been settled? What I mean is…..what will be the compelling reason then to oust the usurper for independents? Other than Obama’s zero-accomplishment record which he will blame on Congress, what will the R nominee (who will likely be Romney……not necessarily my choice but likely will be the one chosen as decided by the R machine for years ago)run on? What about Romney is going to sway Indies to him if the Supreme Court rejects O-care in June? The biggest motivator to oust Obama was to defeat Obamacare. Also, will the defeat of Obamacare activate the Dem base who will revert to their brainwash that “Dems help the poor”?

In my gut, I’m convinced and have been that we are getting 4 more years of Obama. I hope I‘m wrong but God help us if I’m not.

      @copatiots
your intuition is correct. All of us tea party folks were energized because of bailouts, obamacare, stimulus, etc. IF the supreme court takes obamacare off the table – that is one less thing for obama to worry about. He can then point to mitt romney and say that he is a hypocrite because romney did the mandate at the state level.

The other thing mitt romney has built his campaign around – is a bad economy. There is a good chance the administration is going to monkey with the economy to make it FEEL better than it really is (they have had 3 years to plan it).

Because mitt does not have solid principles to stand on – these secondary issues will pull the rug from underneath him. In addition, the media loves romney now – but they will turn on him just like they did for Mccain in 2008.

The Supreme Court needs a clean sweep as far as I am concerned. It would be great to clean out that FDR attitude of stacking the court again regardless of which party holds the power. They should go back to doing what they were designed to do and follow only the guidelines of the U.S. Constitution. Of course, the 0bama admin would love to essentially castrate the Constitution by precedent.

They know the what we all know. The baby boom hits 65 and cost will go up dramatically. It has nothing to do with this law, but they will say see we told you even though the same would ahppen under the law and worse, but you will never see it. It is also an excuse and cover that their over reach of power and buying votes is failing and they have not made enough people dependent on the government tit as of yet, but hey they will not stop trying.

Add to that the fact that the lefties are creating a huge divide between the younger generation who they indoctrinated with their parents/grandparents. The youth have the highest percentage of unemployed and the college educated youth aren’t able to get jobs in their desired field while strapped in massive debt. They sure aren’t going to want to pay the taxes or the cost for the healthcare costs of the plus 65 crowd. This country’s known debt and “unfunded liabilities” are looming with fewer and fewer people willing to pay it.

The destruction of America is nearing completion.

Dancing With The Stars this season is fabulous. I watch American Idol, The Batchelor (if you care about my opinion, nope, but I’ll give it to you anyway..LOL) Ole’ Ben chose the brunette-beauty because he knew she was “unusual” and would give him a “good excuse” to bail-out. This guy did not want any of these ladies so instead of getting “trapped” and chewing off his leg to get out of a trap, he did not chose the “Its Not Unusual”(Tom Jones) and chose “The Unusual”. Anyway Gonzo, I can Zone-Out with these programs & stop thinking about the world on fire. Also, scary 2 part story line of “Body of Proof”. Hey how about a Fox News Alert right now…the Gambian rat of Africa is locating in the Florida Keys.
And the beat goes on! Have a great day, Gonzo.

Agreed, Snow, and we’ll happily take the “blame”. They‘ll claim all that you’ve said, but if you substitute the word “Credit” in place of “Blame” in the list, it reflects the accomplishments Conservatives will be proud of.

Emblazed on the majority of Dems foreheads is “V” for Victim, whether or not they have been truly victimized, and accuse and hold responsible others for their plight. The Perpetrators are anyone still possessing a paycheck or asset they have not yet acquired a chunk of for free.

The blame-game will continue, and President Obama will have caused us to waste these crucial four years fighting his (or his Dad’s ) Impossible Progressive Dream of utopia instead of focusing on a real economic recovery. My hope is that in January we can start anew in Washington with the Presidency, Senate, and SCOTUS selections, to name just a few.

      OBAMACARE FAILS:
      Credit Conservatives in the Congress
      Credit Conservative Justices
      Credit the Tea Party
      Credit the Candidate (Republican)
      Credit Bush
Make themselves appear as the victims

If Obama fails, we can throw in a couple more things to credit:
Credit Adherence to The U.S. Constitution
      Credit Freedom
Credit Free Markets, Logic, Reason, Sanity, Aversion to Progressive Ideology ;-)

President Obama open-hot-mike-whispers to Russian “stooge-in-chief“ to relay to ”always-present-Putin” comes to mind for me. And how Glenn described Van Jones’ haunting words and I will repeat this until November & future…bottom up, top down & inside-out. Sounds like a “little-tune” that could be playing and have kindergarden children stand-up and do the dance of the bottom up, top down & inside-out and make it fun. Sounds & looks like a common theme…”Obama um,um,um!” I’ll stop now..Good Grief! P.S. Flash pic came to mind…other pics of shirtless President Obama & Putin shirtless…two “Masters of Their Own Country” riding horses together and shirtless. Ugh!
