Did NBC Intentionally Edit Deceased Boy’s Admission That He Believed in God?

The story of Ben Breedlove has captured national news. He’s the teen from Texas who suffered from a heart defect but became a YouTube star because of his advice videos. Just before he suddenly died on Christmas, he recorded a silent video using only flash cards. That video, which includes Breedlove’s retelling of several near-death experiences and even a faith message, has gone viral.
Take a look:
The video has spawned numerous responses. In fact, it’s even been played on the national networks. For example, NBC Nightly News played excerpts of it Thursday night. But the eagle-eyed blog Daily Rushbo noticed something curious: when the segment aired on live TV, the part where Breedlove admits he believes in angels and God was rushed across the screen (he asks the question and then says “I do”), arguably to the point where it’s unnoticeable.
But here’s where it gets real interesting. In the version that was placed online, the “I do” admission is clearly visible. Here are the two versions to compare.
The live version:
The online version:
In an e-mail to The Blaze, Daily Rushbo explained how he came across the oddity.
“The shorter version is the one I saw Aired Live on TV,” he explained. “About 40 minutes later the clip appeared on MSNBC’s website so I downloaded it and it was the shorter version. Then while making my post I wanted to embed the MSNBC clip directly from MSNBC and that’s when I noticed they had revised the clip with the longer ending.”
So why the difference? It’s unclear. Could it be that the live version was simply cut for time? Why would the admission about believing in God and angels be faded out when anchor Harry Smith teased a “final inspiring message?” Was it intentional? Was it an accident? Was the different online version meant to rectify what happened in the original? And then there’s the question many others will ask: Was Breedlove’s faith admission just too unpalatable for a network audience?
The most logical explanation is the time one. But that won’t stop people from wondering.
Whatever the reason for the fade and the different clip appearing on the website, Breedlove’s message of faith is still getting out.
“It‘s exciting to know that Ben planted a seed in people’s mind to begin thinking about things that really do matter in life,” Ben’s mother, Deanne Breedlove, told ABC affiliate KVUE-TV at a memorial for Ben. “You know, we all have hope. Everyone has challenges, but we have a real hope and he saw that. He felt the peace of God when he had those glimpses into heaven and heavenly presence.”

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 4:57pmPerhaps off topic a little, but here goes… I am an agnostic, but I really want to believe that there is a god – not so much for me, but more for Ben and those like him. I saw his video yesterday and if I hadn’t stopped it, I would have broken down. Ben, I hope you are truly at peace. I know I never knew you personally, but I don’t think it wrong to say that the world still needs more like you. An honest and non-accusatory question for believers: Why does your god take the good and leave some, (if not many,) very bad ones here?

Most church’s today are much like the media. If you are looking for truth, go to the source – in this case, the Bible.

I also believe that the world needs to have hate to know love, to know pain to know peace, to know arrogance to know humility.
each one of us has been given a life plan by God – some follow it with courage and humility others rebel and sin and become stiff necked. We live in a very temporal world – sit back give God his glory and enjoy the ride – you cannot do anything without GOD.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 5:41pmI believe God is extremely merciful in giving extra time to those who have rejected him so that they may search Him and the Bible and find the truth about God and have the chance to accept Him into their hearts. It is a purely human attitude that wants the good to live long here and the evil to go away quickly.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 5:44pm@FreeUsAll, like IMPEACHBHO said, the Lord was probably speaking to you, to your heart, through Ben Breedlove. I‘m glad you’re asking questions and I pray that you do seek out someone or a group of people who you can connect with to learn more about our Savior, Jesus Christ. We cannot know the reasons why God allows some things to happen. However, I personally find comfort in knowing that no matter what, He is there beside me to help me through anything this world can throw at me. After all, He never gives us anymore than we can handle. But I gotta admit that there are days when He must think I’m an awful lot stronger than I believe I am. :)
God bless you and have a wonderful New Year!

For the bible says, “that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, and would that all would be saved”. Seek Him today, in faith, and you will find Him patiently, lovingly waiting with open arms. When the prodigal son came home, (an allegory), God went running to meet him and killed the fatted calf and had a great celebration. Will He not leave the 99 and seek for the lost lamb?

Be careful of letting people convince you “it was probably God speaking to you.”
Have you ever cried during a movie?
Have you ever heard an orchestra and felt goosebumps?
Are these equally attributed to a God?
The human body and mind are amazing things and we are susceptible to our own thoughts and we can play tricks on ourselves. I‘m sure you’ve heard of people who read symptoms of an illness online, and then suddenly start suffering from symptoms of that illness? What about hypochondriacs who are convinced they are sick, but then can be cured by placebos?
I feel for this kid and his family but that doesn’t mean I have to attribute anything to some form of cosmic justice behind his passing.
People are born and people die, those are the facts of life. Sometimes good people die too early, and sometimes bad people die too late.
Instead of being so concerned about your own afterlife, be concerned with THIS life(the only life we’re guaranteed) in the here and now and making it as great and peaceful as possible for yourself AND others.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 6:41pmGod is Eternal. Life for almost all of us the same Eternal.
Death is very important to all of us here on Earth. But to God it is simply a change of where our Spirit is.
Parents learn quickly that we only learn by making mistakes. We have to be burnt to know than can happen when we touch something hot. God knows this above all. Thus he allows us to burn ourselves to learn from it. Oft times that means burning others as well. Thus Cain was allowed to kill the good Able just as murder is allowed now. Same with all sin.
I believe God is 100% just. I also firmly believe that God has a perfect reason for allowing things to happen by chance (like illness) or by the evil ones (free agency). I believe God answers every righteous prayer in his all knowing perfect way. We will have to wait for him to explain that to us after this life. I guarantee he will explain it to every good and evil person to ever live on this earth.
By righteous prayer I mean one from the heart. Although religion is very helpful it is hardly a requirement for an answer to prayer. The most evil person could pray and receive an answer. No one living is lost. Even those that have died will have another chance I firmly believe. But it will be a very small chance if you depend on repenting after death. God will not be Mocked.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 6:47pmBecause we are not puppets on a string, we have “free will”. It would be a simple matter for the Lord to control all men and their actions. But that would be shallow, for the Lord wants all to come to an understanding of him, a love for him by FAITH. Forced understanding or forced love would be shallow and extremely unfulfilling. God made man to worship, but he does not force them to worship him. The Bible states that everyman has “a still, strong voice”, that proclaims his existence. Some hear it and believe, and some hear and choose to not believe. It’s called free will. It’s my sincere prayer that you be one that believes!

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 8:03pmThat is a difficult question to answer quickly. God uses us all for his greater purpose which is ultimately good. Ben served his God and inspired many to think about God. He inspired you to post the question.
Faith is a journey. Every day you wake up to that journey. God is in-charge of that journey. He will show you the way to go no way or the other. Ben understood this. Learning about the Bible and God is not easy. Don’t expect to “get it” all at once.
When you understand the phrase “it is better to give than receive” in the Christian context, then you are well on your way to enlightenment.
If you can help another in their journey of life in a good and unselfish manner then you doing good. Not all so called Christians are good. Some are phony, each religion has those types of people, just like some mayors or sheriffs are bad, etc.
But doing good deeds or acts is not the same thing as being a Christian. You have to understand and believe in Jesus Christ to be a Christian. That will take study, thought, time and understanding on your part. Words are just words, but faith and belief bring the words to life. I could go on for a while, but I will stop here. Good luck to you on your journey.

Then, 15 months ago, my loving and beautiful wife passed on. Cancer. Married only 2 1/2 years. My first love and who I thought would be my only love. I was devastated. Still am. But she left me with something, a seed.
I wandered, searching for an answer to why? Cancer was the how, but like you I needed the why of it. The one resolution my brain couldn’t generate to quell the screaming inside. I resisted. The seed grew.
For months I relived our entire life together over and over. Every serene memory, every future wish, every terrible medical report. Nothing, I found nothing.
My wife was a believer in the teachings of Jesus and accepted Him as her savior. I was an agnostic, borderline aetheist. She loved me anyway and I her. Love. The vine blossoms: in the waining hours of her life I found out what was most important to her, above even me, her faith. The memory my ego glossed over for so long was now in perfect fidelity. My journey began anew.
I won’t bore you with all the rest. Your a smart person I think you see where I’m going. Keep questioning, you’ll find it.

God gives all of us “bad” humans (and we’re all bad just by our human nature) free will to accept Him or not. It is your choice and your’s alone whether or not you accept God. He does not force us while we are alive on this earth to follow Him nor will He force us to spend eternity with Him if we so choose. But no matter what, God is always there for us. He doesn’t say that we will never experience bad things. He tells us that He is always there to help us through. God loves each and every one of us whether or not we believe in Him.
I feel Ben Breedlove’s experiences were tiny, beautiful, little glimpses of Heaven…for him, for his family and maybe some of us to have just a little more peace about what is in store for those of us who go to Heaven. Bless you!

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 10:35pmThanks for sharing for letting us know you are searching…God does not take any of us…good or bad…Satan takes us because he brought death. God is only the author of LIFE…this is why he sent his son Jesus who is the exact replication of the invisible God in visible form, to defeat death for all of us! Sin and death brought us health problems like the ones that killed this young man. Jesus came to restore us completely back to to LIFE; though we will probably all die a physical death, it is only death of the body which is temporal but the soul is eternal. Eternal life begins the second you accept Jesus into your heart and ask him to forgive you of sins. Death will never have you because you belong to the WAY, the Truth, THE LIFE. Jesus is the LIFE. Live in Him. He is only available for a limited time since no one is promised tomorrow. God bless!

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 10:40pmTo freeusall: The truth is that it’s not God who is “taking” everybody. Sickness (also sin and death) comes from Satan (Acts 10:38) and Jesus came to this earth to destroy the works of Satan (1 John 3:8). Isaiah 53:4 says He has borne our griefs…the hebrew word here literally translates to “sicknesses”. God heals but we have to read and study the bible to understand how all this works. I personally know several people who have been healed by God of different things. The reason everyone doesn’t receive is because of lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Also, everyone dies in this life at some point, but eternity is forever. That kid is in a much better place now and he is experiencing true peace. The “bad” people who live long lives will have a much longer life in eternity in a place where they don’t want to be. God is love (1 John 4:8) and He loves all of us, even unbelievers (John 3:16) and His will is that none of us perish (2 Peter 3:9) but that all of us would be saved. But we have a choice in the matter. God will not MAKE us choose Him. Hope this helps.

If you wonder why God took Ben at an early age remember God has seen this from the beginning of time. God’s plan for Ben may have been completed with you watching the video or maybe someone else watching the video and making a decision to follow Him.
I did see a couple of people suggest you read the bible. Not a bad idea at all. I say start first talking to the creator of the bible. Talk straight to God. Do read the bible too. I’d say start with John, the first chapter.
I wish you well, I pray God enlightens you. Whether you believe it or not He has begun to knock no the door of your heart. You have to open the door to let Him in. He won’t kick it down, it’s your decision.
I pray you make a decision to follow God, trust the words of Jesus they are true.
My last comment. If you decide to follow God find a group of believers to meet with. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a church but that is what most new believers do.
Compare what the group of believers say to the bible.
I pray you open your heart to the love of Jesus Christ.

If we truly believe and have faith..and stay in His Word..the Bible..and are obedient to His laws…We are sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption. But you must believe and have faith..If this is your desire..then ask God to show you in your heart and ask Him to help you have faith..for many are called but few are chosen..We are only here in earth suits..this is our mission..to go out and make disciples of men.. another thing is to surround yourself with Christian people and listen to Christian music..God speaks through these avenues. Buy yourself a NKJ study bible..John Macarthur is a great theologian. K-Love radio has I believe 6 million listeners throughout the US and even our military in the war zone can listen..Being here on earth is a testing ground..we are in waiting for the eternal life to come..or eternal destruction..the end of life here is not the end of life..except for the non believers..You must be being called..Please do get yourself to a church..A Baptist or non denominational would be a good start.

God’s ways are higher than our ways. God knows we don’t understand why He does certain things. Yet other times, it can be perfectly clear what God is doing. All He asks is that we trust Him. Those of us who have faith and feel we have a relationship with God as our Heavenly Father, started out asking Him the same questions you are asking here. Perhaps it is a good time for you to take it a step further. I can recommend some reading starting with the Bible. I also highly recommend books by Dr. Charles Stanley, who is a wonderful teacher. You can check out his ministry at http://www.Intouch.org. You can also do what I did. Just ask God. When I was a kid in Brooklyn, all I saw were roads and buildings. I remember telling God that I had never seen a bird nest and questioning how I was supposed to believe He was real. I didn’t even believe that birds really made nests and laid eggs in them. I was very young at the time. I asked that question to God. One day after that, I was walking along and saw a bird’s nest in a tree planted in a square in the side walk and it contained little blue eggs. My eyes opened wide. It was as if God had actually heard my prayer and answered it. My faith grew from there. I am still experiencing miracles. My point is, just ask. The Bible says “Ask you you shall receive”.

God did not give this young man his disease nor his death. Satan is a very powerful fallen Angel and his domain is of this earth. On the other hand, God through his son Jesus Christ has promised all that believe eternal life.
This young man may have missed out on 60 or so years on this earth, but with his powerful video confession of faith he will live for eternity in a place where the deaf hear and the blind see – no more sickness, no sorrow, no pain.
It was very clear, that God was in his message and now 1000‘s if not millions will be able to see this video and will hopefully open their hearts to seek out God’s message of salvation and eternal live.
Free Us All – God has already counted every hair on your head and has a greater love for you than you can imagine. God sends 1000 angels every time a sparrow falls – how much more is he going to do for you.
Jesus thought us that “ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Not just some, ALL have sinned! God so loved the World that he gave his only son to die for our sins; therefore, all that confess that they are sinners and except Jesus in our heart will have eternal life. Many believers still have questions, but it does not keep us from the Word of God.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 4:51pmAs much as I don’t like the left wing; this is clearly an issue of time. It‘s a live show and you’ve gotta be sharp on your schedule so you don’t cut into your advertisers time, because if you do you’ve got to pay them back. If you noticed how quickly the correspondent started speaking after the clip you should realize that it was nothing more. Does the MSM edit things out all the time? Absolutely, but this one isn’t part of that. Very sad that this young man has passed and I wish that they could have ran the whole video, but look at it this way. They could have not reported on the story at all.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 4:47pmIt’s NBC. Of course the edit was intentional. They omitted “God” from the Pledge of Allegiance earlier this year at golf event. Their former president is in cahoots with GE and Obama. They constantly try to promote their progressive agenda. They even changed their slogan to the racist “more colorful” all the while making their logo less colorful. Their logo is now green instead of a rainbow. There’s no doubt as to what kind of company NBC is.

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 4:40pm“intentional”? Well, even if it was only to make it fit in a time slot, it was intentional, based very likely on the fact that too many in the news industry don’t really believe in God. But Ben’s video is out there on YouTube and millions are seeing it…the whole thing. I’m thankful he was here for as long as he was. He’s touched many lives. And God bless his family in their time of sorrow. Even when you know your loved one is with God, you still miss him terribly for a while.

That’s like saying, ‘Does NBC Intentionally Edit Out Obama’s gaffes?’

or, ‘Would NBC Intentionally Lie for Obama?’

It is very understandable and very touching that in this world of violence and cruelty, we all wish for supernatural beings to protect us. Or we get extra vigilant and arm ourselves with weapons that can kill others.
We are better than this, people.

Why don’t you lead by example then. Why does it matter to you what anyone believes? I‘m not really a religious person but I’m certainly not offended in any way with people expressing their beliefs. I just don’t understand why you feel the need to be mean and make fun of people. If you don‘t like what’s being said, just leave.

I don’t think I was being mean or making fun of people in my post. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with making fun of absurdity. I refer you to Mark Twain and Ben Franklin, some of my favorite Americans, and very funny writers. They both made lots of fun of parochial, sanctimonious ‘religious’ attitudes of a certain segment of the United States. I hope they are watching from heaven now and laughing at all the religious zealots today.

It’s good vs. evil everywhere you go.
There is this nun who was on TV. She is pretty old now, so I don’t think she is on anymore. Mother Angelica is her name. She gave a great testimony on how an Angel saved her life one day when she was a little girl. This is her story:Mother Angelica tells of finding herself in the middle of a busy street as a girl, staring at the oncoming headlights of a car. She braced for impact, but instead found herself moments later standing on the sidewalk, unharmed.
Biographer Dan O’Neill writes that a witness, identified as a bus driver, said she “catapulted high into the air … in what seemed an impossible maneuver.”
I watched her tell the story on TV and she said she felt something yank her up and backwards and their was nobody there to do this and save her. I would say that qualifies as Angel intervening.
What say you?

Report Post »ChiefGeorge
Posted on December 30, 2011 at 4:28pmOf course it was intentionally edited out! You cannot have the masses inspired by God and the story of a young man who clearly saw something more than once. People will really have to ponder the truth of their existence in this life. What is also so interesting is that those who would edit would push other socalled faiths and mini gods of this world and thats perfectly ok for them to do it. But when it ever comes to calling on the one supreme God they run and hide. This is how you know what is true and what is not. Demons do not attack the strong points, they go after the weak points in each persons character. In this case, they choose to literally skip over the whole meaning of the message just like they do when it comes to the real meaning of the seaon.

Do you support gay marriage?
Do you support the woman’s right to choose?
If not, and you’re coming from a religious view, you ARE forcing your beliefs on people. It may not be in the “you have to believe in my God” type but it’s the “I‘m going to force you to conform your life around my God’s law” form.
