Bloomberg: Park Owner Received ‘Threatening’ Calls from Politicians Over Cleanup

The Occupy Wall Street protest has managed to keep its base of operations in New York‘s Zuccotti Park despite the Mayor’s proclamation that they must leave, and it looks like political pressure played a decisive role.

Mayor Bloomberg said on his weekly radio show that  the park’s owner, Brookfield Office Properties, “Got lots of calls from many elected officials threatening them and saying … ‘We’re going to make your life more difficult.’”

Political Pressure Keeps Occupy Wall Street Open

7:00AM Zuccotti Park

If it wasn’t clear enough before, it now appears obvious there are heavy-hitter politicos at work behind the scenes that want Occupy Wall Street to continue.

While there have been no further specifics yet on the “elected officials” Bloomberg mentioned, the occupiers are getting support from across the political, financial, and media worlds.

The White House has expressed sympathy for the protestors, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said they are a reminder of all the work government has left to do. Mayor Bloomberg told his staff they are under strict orders not to pressure Brookfield one way or another with regard to Zuccotti Park and the protestors. Countless celebrities have either visited Zuccotti park, or otherwise publicly expressed solidarity.

In addition, there are more signs of outside financing than every before. Reuters has suspiciously backtracked on its coverage of Occupy Wall Street’s financial connection to George Soros, but many still believe the connection has merit and was retracted for political reasons.

Regardless of politics behind the scenes, the protestors won big today, and they know it.

Political Pressure Keeps Occupy Wall Street Open

A pungent tarp pile, 7:00AM Zuccotti Park

Instead of clearing out the park, the NYPD was told to hold back at around 6AM. Soon after it became clear to both Occupiers and onlookers that nothing was going to happen– that the protestors’ allies in politics and media has won– a march started that turned violent, and 14 arrests ensued.

The situation is now more volatile at Zuccotti Park than anything since the arrest of 700 protestors on the Brooklyn Bridge a couple of weeks ago. In many ways, it has become even more precarious.

In their own eyes, the protestors stood firm. They prepared themselves for an onslaught of eviction and arrests that never came. In fact, from what I saw and heard this morning in Zuccotti Park, they have never felt more righteous, or more bold.

Police officers used metal interlocking barricades to pen in the main protest area, and then stood by and watched. One protestor told me that the police are frustrated, because now they know their job just got a lot harder.

The new narrative at Liberty Square is Occupy Wall Street stood up to “the man” and won. Here is a clip that shows the mood of the Occupiers as they sing “We Shall Overcome:”

Political Pressure Keeps Occupy Wall Street Open

Yelling defiance at the NYPD, 7:00AM

Now we’re forced to ask the question: If the Occupiers friends can control a massive multinational corporation (Brookfield), a powerful billionaire mayor, and defy the largest, most well-organized police department in the country, what will they consider outside their reach?

What will stop them?

We may learn the answer to that question tomorrow, as thousands of protestors plan to descend on Times Square, and occupations around the world are preparing to gather in solidarity.

But the signs I saw this morning calling for class warfare have become much more ominous.

Of course they were! We were foolish enough to elect a Marxist and now we are paying the price. The Democratic faction that’s hoping for a revolution in order to make Obama a dictator–is calling for a revolution. Read some Russian history and see how that worked out for them. They are planning to push this all the way to November 2012 in order to create some upset that will keep the Marxist in the WH. And they can use spoiled young people who have been indoctrinated by the public school system ….. in hopes of shoving more of the socialist agenda down our throats. Ignorant people think this is the way to income redistribution. Check out the status of people in England… and see how it has worked for them.

In Russia in 1917 people were starving, inflation was running rampant, powerful enemies had invaded the country and there was a hereditary autocrat on the throne who would not lead, would not follow and would not get out of the way. There was no hope of replacing him by means of elections in a year, or ever. What in that situation resembles America’s today?

Quite true. However, I would like to point out that the material conditions are not necessarily requisite to make people revolt, only the ability to whip up the same amount of mindless fervor AND then ensure that the fervor is sustained. Anybody can whip up a crowd, but usually that peters out in short order, the trick is making it last. Is that possible? Probably, I don’t really know for certain though, but I suspect that if you indoctrinate enough people over several generations to the state of servile dependence and thralldom combined with a unique sense of spoiled child entitlement, you’ll have something resembling these crowds today.

All speculation of course, and certainly open to discussion or refutation.

Then, I think, the louder they get the more people will turn against them. But there are so many people who don‘t bother to watch the news period and don’t even know its going on. The more cities they come to the more people will become aware. Just hope it works out to where the so called “dems” are doing nothing more than shooting themselves in the foot.

GHOSTOFJEFFERSON you have to understand…ROSE-ELLEN never really says anything. She just repeats what her handlers tell her to. If the idiot had any semblance of coherent thought she‘d stop praising European socialism as we’re watching the European fall apart in real time as unproductive states overburdened by cradle-to-the-grave entitlements can no longer support those programmes. Greece’s debt is over 150% of it’s GDP. Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland….all in the same sinking boat. It’s almost surreal to watch someone heap praise on European socialism as we watch it implode before our very eyes. This is why the left is in a state of panic today. Their man in the white house is all but gone, his policies a complete failure. Europe’s socialism has brought them to the brink of austerity..it’s also a failure. ROSE-ELLEN expects us all to just simply forget all that because her handlers have done such a good job of keeping her blind and stupid that she believes everyone is like her. The left has been clamoring for their own “tea parties”. Rathke and Lerner know that if the tea parties get involved it will either legitimise the cesspit they call a protest or a confrontation will appear to take place, thus enabling the marxstream media to portray the tea parties as “destructive” or “dangerous” after the “peaceful” display of the occupiers. The tea parties are a lot smarter than Rathke and Lerner hoped they were.

If one does not believe in collective salvation, one cannot turn and claim that God turns his back on the collective. It‘s all about the individual in God’s eyes, and how he treats his fellow man, as well as his acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. One righteous man in a nation of 3 billion still will be saved, if I read the Bible correctly. Hence, the request to pray I think many are making. The “nation” didn’t turn its back on God, just certain individuals.

Ghost, Salvation certainly is an individual thing but, it’s salvation for the next life, not this one. I think the Old Testament shows us exactly how God’s will works on Earth. God never changes so, I doubt that the way He rebukes his people changes. He redeemed the Jewish people that time but, not until that generation had passed away 70 years later. I obviously don‘t know if that’s what’s happening now but, I think about it.

Sure these folks would love it when I / We go to their home and squat; saying we are “occupying” your place. Maybe crap in their floor, have food delivered “magically” as it appears to happen in these locations. Then, make up fruity hand signals; maybe even have unicorns floating around….God help us.

I hope this park owner WHO KNEW there would be problems had the SENSE TO TAPE these phone calls.

The park owner should let the phone answering machine pick up or a PERSON both ALWAYS ALWAYS INCLUDING HIM SAY,

ALL INCOMING AND OUTGOING CALLS ARE TAPED. IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR WORDS TAPED, PLEASE HANG UP NOW. PRESS 1 to ACCEPT BEING TAPED OR THE PHONE WILL HANG UP ON YOU.

From the Secretary saying it to the Park Owner saying it, EVERY INCOMING AND OUTGOING PHONE WOULD BE TAPED BEGINNING TO END – NO EXCEPTIONS.

I would not let some lowlife Democrat or GOP out of Washington dictate to me what I did with my land. The owner of this land is just cowardly. If anyone threatened him, he should have gone on Hannity’s show and named names unless the cowards who called him would not identify themselves. We need many more brave people like Sheriff Joe in AZ. I am sure he has had hundreds of threats but he does not buckle and cower down.Thank GOD, for brave people like Sheriff Joe.

If it’s true, Brookfield’s management should have the balls to name names. If politicians can threaten businesses, to force them allow their property to be destroyed, America is finished.

Please tell me we are not talking about State Supported Terror, by Obama and the NY and National Democrat Party. Because if I’m not mistaken that amounts to Treason. right?…..

This Administration has already committed Treason several times. They should all have been tried and convicted already; however, with nothing but crooks, thieves and cowards in Washington, nothing will be done.

Tape the calls. Identify the callers and broadcast their names . This Socialist rabble should be put in the spotlight. Like cockroaches (the city insect of NYC) will scurry to their spidey holes.

These dopes are the FACES of the DEMOCRAT PARTY.

Regarding the ‘elected officials’ who placed ‘threatening calls’ to the park owners; If there is sufficient evidence, this sounds like an occasion for RICO charges.

That video and that website it is linked to is so much BS.

Sarah Palin wearing a hunters hat and Castro wearing a similar hat means Palin is a communist?
It is quite obvious you never look at hunting clothes catalogs because her hat is a dime a dozen.

Well then I think it is time for Congress to begin an investigation, issue subpoenas, and have Brookfield Office Properties testify and start naming names of the politicians that called and made threats. Inquiring minds want to know.
