I would love to see Romney and Gingrich destroy each other and pave the way for Santorum to get more air time. The establishment and media are never going to allow that to happen. I will continue to support Santorum, but he is a long shot at the end of the day. The sad part is that although they are a minority, Santorum’s supporters have passion for the views he brings to the race. People who say principle matters less than “electability” are wrong at the end of the day. Passion for a candidate will get someone elected (i.e. Reagan). Voting for a candidate as a way of voting against another will give us a loser every time (i.e.McCain, Dole, etc.).

Obama’s supporters, however misled, are passionate. He will win re-election if voters are not inspired to vote FOR new leadership rather than AGAINST the current administration.

I believe it will happen. Why? In the last 24 hours, I have seen more people turn towards Santorum than I have seen in months. For months, I have been an avid Santorum supporter. I have donated to his campaign, used Facebook and Twitter to support him, put up yard signs all over my city, and convinced everyone I know that he is our best bet. I have never been this passionate over any candidate and I intend to keep on supporting him until he wins. Join me and so many others who believe he is the best one to defeat Obama.

I say good for Santorum. I would rather see him get the support than Gingrich. Gingrich has changed his positions more than anyone I have ever seen. Always playing the populist card. Then again that is also what I thought about Romney until I started researching his background. Romney is no Massachusetts liberal. He was a conservative/moderate in 1994, became much more conservative in 2002 in the race for governor, and then made the final conversion after being converted on pro-life issues when he had a bill put on his desk that questioned his stance, this much like Reagan. Then Cardinal O’Malley and the Pilot Catholic News, that worked with him on the social issues and getting the message out wrote some articles about his true conversion. You can assume a lot of things but they were there working with Romney and backed him up after every attack.

Romney has done more for traditional marriage than any other governor and candidate we have. Find out more at TeaPartyforRomney.com.

This is why I endorse Romney, I want someone that is conservative, especially on the social issues. Gingrich‘s ads are all blatantly false about Romney’s record and easily defended.

Question: Why would the Vatican Envoy as well as Massachusetts Catholic leaders endorse Romney over their Gingrich and Santorum, who are both Catholics.

      The Florida Smear Campaign–Thomas Sowell
The Republican establishment is pulling out all the stops to try to keep Newt Gingrich from becoming the party’s nominee for President of the United States — and some are not letting the facts get in their way… Do the Romney camp and the Republican establishment not know this, a dozen years later? Or are they far less concerned with whether the charges will stand up than they are about smearing Gingrich on the eve of the Florida primaries?

There are also charges made about what Congressman Gingrich said about Ronald Reagan on March 21, 1986. But this too is a matter of public record, since his remarks are available in the Congressional Record of that date, so it is remarkable that there should be any controversy about it at this late date… http://townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/2012/01/31/the_florida_smear_campaign

I agree with you. One thing I have noticed to Santorum’s benefit the last few months has been his response on Facebook. A few months ago I would have friends with as many ‘likes’ and comments on posts as Santorum had on his. Now when he posts something hundreds and thousands of people are noticing. If there was ever a time for a lead shift the Florida primary is it. Hopefully he will be able to secure a strong finish if not the lead.

      STUCK_IN_CA,

That is a smear job by a Gingrich Surrogate, Thomas Sowell came out for Newt a while ago and yet in his so called journalistic manner, he neglected the poll of Floridians that say that the Gingrich ads are way worse than Romney or any other candidate.

Remember also that Gingrich started it on Nov 28, 2011 when he went after Romney’s Conservatism. Romney was asked if he was going to respond, he said wait for the debate, then he was criticized for not standing up for himself. The next day he responded and that was his first negative ad. Thanks Newt for getting the negative attacks started.

either choose someone who wants us ALL, every man, woman and child, to follow the constitution. or keep up the treason and watch our nation fall to complete tyranny.

And right now, the only candidate standing that fills the bill is long-shot Santorum. But I’d rather be passionate for him and work for him that either Newt or Mitts, both of whom I simply cannot stand on multiple levels!! Of course, were Palin in the race, she was my first choice anyway. But it we’re going down, I want to be in that boat with “my peeps” – the TRUE “believers,” the hardcore and unwavering Conservatives! At this point, frankly, I’m POST-Republican!! Actually no. Romney has always governed as a conservative, and has only become more conservative over time.

Just follow the link and check out his record.

      http://evangelicalsformitt.org/on-the-issues

Just as an example, let’s take abortion. Because Romney once lost a close loved one due to a botched illegal abortion, he adopted a policy in his early career of pro- safe and legal abortion. Yet, he has always been personally pro-life, as a matter of religious conviction, being a faithful latter-day saint in good standing with the Church. In case you didn’t know, the LDS Church has the following policy concerning abortion:

“The Church opposes abortion and counsels its members not to submit to or perform an abortion except in the rare cases where, in the opinion of competent medical counsel, the life or good health of the mother is seriously endangered or where the pregnancy was caused by rape and produces serious emotional trauma in the mother. Even then it should be done only after counseling with the local presiding priesthood authority and after receiving divine confirmation through prayer.

Abortion must be considered one of the most revolting and sinful practices in this day, when we are witnessing the frightening evidence of permissiveness leading to sexual immorality.” (http://www.lds.org/new-era/1973/04/policies-and-procedures-statement-on-abortion?lang=eng)

That happens to be his personal policy as well, and always has been.

      @american1st

I ran out of space, but I would also point out that not all LDS agree with Church policies, like the one about abortion. But Romney does, since he himself has served as a “local presiding priesthood authority”, as the policy references, having been a bishop and a stake president, which are lay positions of authority in the Church. In order to qualify to serve in those positions, one must be in agreement with the teachings of the Church on these matters, especially if you are to counsel others concerning Church policy.

So, in conclusion, there is ample evidence in Romney’s history to support the fact that he is pro-life and always has been. Plus his record as governor proves that he governed as a strong pro-life advocate. Here are some examples:

      - He is a “convert” to the (public) pro-life position, much like Ronald Reagan
      - He believes life begins at conception
      - He vetoed a bill to give kids access to emergency contraception without parents’ knowledge
      - He promised a “moratorium” on changes to abortion laws in his 2002 gubernatorial run
      - He opposes Roe v. Wade and thinks states should set abortion policy
      - He opposes cloning of human embryos for stem cell research—even though his wife has multiple sclerosis
      - He vetoed a bill to expand such research despite the overwhelmingly hostile liberal majority in his state legislature

@american1st, Not sure who you are supporting, but many candidates have come to terms with abortion, including many voters. Let’s talk about Santorums wife, who was actually a live in girlfriend of an abortion doctor for 6 years. She is not anti-abortion. I don’t doubt her conversion, nor do I doubt the fact that even though Santorum and his wife forced a birth early because the life of his wife was at stake. Some claim this was an abortion. I don’t question it, even if it was. I do wonder if this was the reason he had that weird story about bringing the baby home and showing the unborn to the family. I am guessing to prove that they didn’t have an abortion and still strongly cared about the life of child. Which is also understandable, but weird. However, I live next to Butler County where Santorum grew up, worked with a lot of those guys, and there are many a little off up there to begin with, so it really doesn’t surprise me. It’s just sad if this is the case and he had to go to such lengths in order to “prove” he was pro-life. Like Romney said, it wasn’t until he realized the impact until he had the power to allocate such an action as an abortion, by say, signing in a law or something. Newt constant message he runs non stop about his statement when he was younger is one that many people take when they are younger, especially males. It is hard for a male to understand and woman can get really uptight about the right thing.Hey, it’s their choice, they have to live

i wasn’t commenting on abortion specifically… but having lived in Mormon community’s i might give him that one as being in the “honest change of heart” category..

here is a short list of issues he has flipped on
      - For A Path To Citizenship, Then Against
      - Anti-Reagan then, now Pro-Reagan
      - National Rifle Association And Gun Laws
      - Don‘t Ask Don’t Tell
      - position on same-sex marriage
      - healthcare
etc etc … the point being…. he (and Gingrich and Santorum ) are POLITICIANS FIRST and conservative when speaking to the voters or on those occasions when it happens to align with their own best interests … this is the same kind of political gamesmanship that has put our country on the ragged edge, we see it with obama, we see it in Bush in hindsight
BUT WE ARE BLIND TO IT in our candidates when they run for office ???? WHY ???

as Americans we are duty bound to have a distrust of government and the things politicians say to us, vote for whomever you think is best….. but don’t just take their word for it.. look at their records as well… the last thing we need right now is more of the same…

Now . . about Romney . . . I’m not going to dispute anything you have posted about him. Still, I am not at all comfortable with him being the nominee. Do you know what would give me comfort? A list of Romney’s cabinet. People are policy. John Bolton has endordsed Romney, but Gingrich (who is the worst of the 4 remaining) has said he would appoint Bolton as Secretary of State. Why doesn’t Romney do the same? How about picks for A.G., Interior (Sarah Palin would be my pick), Sec. Def., etc.? PEOPLE ARE POLICY. I want to know the people so that I can get a vision of the policy.

I believe the more exposure Santorum gets the more people will realize who is the most conservative. Neither Frothy Mix nor Jabba the Newt can win the 1144 delegates it takes to clinch. It’s simple math; they missed over 500 delegates in the states they failed to file for ballot access. Neither of them has a chance; Perry knew it and dropped; Michele knew it and dropped.

Frothy and Moonbase are hoping for a brokered convention. They have no idea that Paul’s base has infiltrated the delegate pool and will vote for none but Paul.

If Mitt doesn’t clinch before the convention, it’ll be Paul nominated.

You had hypocrisy of having Ann Coulter on again and bash Newt and Palin then turn around and say its all getting too negative?

do you even hear yourself anymore?

Y’know Ann Coulter who bashed Palin with Laura ingraham calling her the Repub Obama.

I loved how you said you can’t understand Sarahs decisions…yet you have a open line to contact her anytime…you had her on dozens of times. You scared? Or is it just easier to bash her?

I agree, I was in the same boat. Somewhere along the line Glenns disdain for Gingrich is turning him petty and instead of picking up some of Coulters hypocrisy, he chose to criticize Sarah without even just talking to her.

Similar thing with Gingrich and Cain,…He asked Newt on his show to ” answer the tough questions, but cut the guy down after he came on the show and at least cordially answered the questions.

Sorry, just can’t follow Glenn anymore.
