Did Sarah Palin Really Snub Obama in Speech Yesterday?

Sarah Palin is often skewered by the Media for what she says. But it‘s what she didn’t say yesterday that is grabbing headlines. According to reports, Palin never thanked Obama by name for bringing about the death of bin Laden but did do so regarding former President Bush. And while that’s technically true, the reports fail to mention that, well, she actually did thank the current president.
Confused? Let’s straighten it out.
Palin was in Denver, CO yesterday for a charity event at Colorado Christian University raising money for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a nonprofit group that provides grief counseling and other support services to the families of fallen service members. About 1,000 people attended and Tickets were $25 apiece. In addition, a silent auction raised $24,000.
The former governor gave a rousing speech about God and country. But here’s how the Denver Post covered it, which focused on her comments regarding OBL:
“Their courage and their determination brought us justice,” Palin said of those who hunted the terrorist figurehead for nearly 10 years. “They know that freedom isn’t free. It’s a God-given right and worth fighting for.”
Palin never mentioned President Barack Obama by name — instead saying, “We thank President (George W.) Bush for having made the right calls to set up this victory.”
From that story, our friends over at Mediaite wrote a story with the following headline: “Sarah Palin Speaks On Bin Laden’s Death, Though Obama Doesn’t Merit A Mention.”
According to the Post’s story, that’s technically true. But if you dig a little deeper, you quickly find it’s not that black and white.
“From what I recall she didn’t mention the president [Obama] by name,” John Andrews, who was in charge of the event for the university’s think tank, the Centennial Institute, told The Blaze. “But she did make mention of the current president.”
And, it turns out, Andrews — the former president of the Colorado Senate who’s also a Denver Post columnist — is right.
We found some video of the event posted by the liberal group Right Wing Watch. While the description of their video says Palin “sought to credit President Bush for the capture of Osama Bin Laden while not mentioning President Obama,” the video shows that’s not entirely true:
Did you catch it? Here’s what she said: “And we thank our president, we thank President Bush … .”
The Associated Press noted the mention in its story on the speech, separating the two mentions with a period and indicating they were two definitive mentions:
Palin did acknowledge President Barack Obama, though not by name. She also named former President George W. Bush.
“Yesterday was a testament to the military’s dedication in relentlessly hunting down the enemy during many years of war,” Palin said. “And we thank our president. We thank president Bush.”
That sure seems like she mentioned “the president” and didn’t set out to snub or completely ignore him. Sure, she didn’t mention him by name and the crowd obviously loved the Bush mention better, but is that so wrong?
According to Andrews, there were no prepared remarks distributed before the event. And from his vantage point (he’s sitting directly behind Palin and to the left in the video), he said Palin’s remarks were a combination of printed and hand-written notes.
“In the end, what she said was true,” Andrews noted, explaining that “Obama’s policies in the Middle East are largely the extent of Bush-era policies.”

The intelligence gathered during the enhanced interrogations (The same ones Obama and his administration are unwilling to use) were what led to OBL’s capture. Everything Obama did was counter to actually completing the mission. If anything, Obama should be condemned for his counter-productive actions. The Military and Intelligence gathering agencies should be commended for doing their job in spite of the administration’s interference.

The rest is all the efforts of the Men and Women who planned, executed and completed the mission. They deserve thanks. Obama can go take another vacation or host another party or something of the like. Is it now some unwritten rule that the leader of the current US administration not have his name mentioned? Because of my respect for the office and not the man, I do this all the time. I have to believe Mrs. Palin was simply making a speech and not snubbing the entity not mention by name here. Posted on May 3, 2011 at 2:29pmGee you forgot to mention that poll was taken in Mississippi and PPP describes itself as a nonpartisan polling firm, but it has been described in other media as a Democratic-leaning company.
The firm also conducted a separate poll of non-Republican voters, asking them the same question about interracial marriage. Those results are expected to be released in the coming weeks. I wonder if those results will be similar in Mississippi?

We are still dying as a nation, and while we dither over he said, she said USA falls through the cracks. What makes this site different from HuffPo? From what I see, nothing. We, (yes me included) look for our chance to take pot-shots at the oppostion instead of remaining focused on the issues which truly affect our lives. It does feel good, I’ll admit. to slam the left for the stupid and just plain wrong things they say. In the end, it won’t change what they believe, nor ease the heartache we all feel. If you cannot remain focused on what continues to go on, because you are dazzled by the latest bauble they throw at you, how in God’s name can you be counted on to stay the course over the long haul. If we are so taken in by these little things, and yes, this is a little thing, we cannot ever, expect to win back our house, let alone our country. Most of you on here dissapoint me. Sad to say, but you are just as bad as those on the left. I cannot put my trust and faith in you. The left will continue to own us, because you won’t stand together. I see everyday what the policies of this administration does to our nation. I know that you do too. PLEASE remain focused on the fight we can win, not the latest, newest, greatest, “CRAP” that they wish to throw at us. STAY THE COURSE.

They make their money by speaking against President Obama, not matter how trivial the issue. It’s their theme and the theme of this website: no matter what Obama does you’re going to criticize him.
Frankly Republicans could have shown a little maturity and class by giving some credit to President Obama. No he wasn’t in the compound shooting people, but he fulfilled his campaign promise to go after the people who planned 9-11, unlike Bush who invaded a country that had nothing to do with 9-11 and said he “wasn’t worried about OBL.”
President Obama made getting OBL a priority and diverted valuable American resources to go after the guy. And he got him.
Who cares what Palin, who quit the governorship because of some bad press, says anyway? Why does the lamestream media even report her little spats and tweets. She couldn’t win an elective office in her own state, let alone anywhere else.
