Story of Occupy Seattle Protester Who Claims Miscarriage After Alleged Kick to Stomach and Pepper Spray Questioned

Seattle police have launched an internal investigation after a 19-year-old woman says she suffered a miscarriage after being pepper sprayed at an Occupy Seattle protest.

Jennifer M. Fox, 19, says police kicked her and hit her in the stomach with a bicycle Nov. 15 and also doused her with pepper spray. She says she was three months pregnant. But her former foster mother of 10 years, Lark Stebbins, said to The Seattle Times that Fox has a history of exaggerating and never mentioned she was pregnant when they spoke recently.

The Times says Fox has declined to provide medical records supporting her claim that she had a miscarriage five days after being hit.

Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson says the department is looking into the situation because of the seriousness of the allegations, according to the Times:

“Their goal is to find any — any — info that supports her claims,” he said. “You have to take her word.”

In an interview Tuesday at the Occupy Seattle encampment on Capitol Hill, Fox said she had three ultrasound pictures of her fetus in her tent, but declined to show them to reporters.

She also said she did not plan to pick up medical records at Harborview Medical Center that could document the miscarriage until after a planned memorial service Saturday, and she declined to sign a waiver allowing reporters to obtain the documents independently. She said the baby was a girl, to be named Miracle.

The Times points out that Fox says she learned about the sex of her fetus at 10 weeks, but usually the sex isn’t determined until a 16 week ultrasound. Other potential flaws in Fox’s story include the fact that she told police in September she was three months pregnant and then was later telling a KIRO reporter that the police must have misheard her because she was only one month pregnant at that time.

      Someone needs to change the caption on the top picture. The woman depiced is not 19.

      In any case, this sort of claim is in line with their standard of credibility. Make outlandish claims, and charges. Over time, the hope is that some of it may stick (true or not).

      OWS’s Ministry of Propoganda shows promise, but they are still working at reaching a sophomoric level of efficacy.Good try kids!

      Any Dr can tell you in 5 minutes if she was pregnant or not. If she makes the claim then she must be examined just like a rape vivtim. I bet she refuses a medical exam. As to who would impregnate her. Liberal have no standards.

      It’s become clear that OWS is now targeting their union brothers..the police. My first question is why would a woman in such condition subject her unborn child to these kinds of conditions? Well…she’s a liberal..an unborn child is merely a “blastocyst” or “fetus” to her. My next question is “where‘s the doctor’s report?”.       JROOK- She gets what she deserves. She is the one putting the “unborn child” at risk by going out there and protesting. Not following police orders is terms of getting sprayed. So no sympathy for her. I am glad she is not bringing a child in the world as a matter of fact. Some people just shouldn’t breed. One less welfare check out of my tax dollars.

      I have no sympathy for her even if she did. If she cared so much for the unborn child, why in the hell was she there subjecting herself to the elements and refusing to move when they were told to before the pepper spray incident. I feel for the unborn child if there was one, but with a mother like her, it is better off back in God’s hands.

      In reviewing the posts, I would have to say that we all agree, she is coyote ugly. I would also have to say, as well as having a better moral outlook on life, conservatives also seem to have a much better taste in women. Maybe that’s the result of the liberal outlook, any port in a storm. If she wants to sue someone, I suggest that she sue the OWS organizers for not protecting her from herself.       Three months along and has ultrasounds? Why would ultrasounds (expensive) be ordered unless there was a question of fetal viability (prior to alleged protest incident) at that very tenuous stage of pregnancy? Most miscarriages take place in first trimester.

    More than likely, she was due for an abortion, but claiming a miscarriage is way more profitable. I don’t think she will get anything close to 10 or 20 million, though, and THAT’s if she can come up with records, but I am sure there is sympathetic progressive doctor who can fake someone else’s record and share the booty.

A father SHOULD have every right in the world to sue the mother of their child for stupid acts done against the will of the father that endanger the life of HIS child….But our legal system is rigged to treat women as “more equal” than men and men have no say in a court of law in this nation until their child is born. The only instance when the courts allow a father to sue anyone for the death of his unborn child is when a fourth party murders the child in the womb.       That was my questions as well – what was she doing there? Even if I were to believe this woman’s story (lies tend to shift with the telling, while truth is more solid) she has a higher level of responsibility – she knew she was pregnant, the police did not . Officers, contrary to the spew of lies from the far left, do not pepper spray or get into shuffles with protesters unwarranted – pepper spray is used to help subdue a protester that refuses to cooperate so that they don’t have to get physical – it is the way police try to ‘not hurt’ people. I can only assume she was being confrontational or disobeying a police order in which case she is responsible for the actions the police had to take in order to restore order.

      Before I became a nurse I would have thought the same thing. Unfortunately, many pregnancies are “accidents” and the reality is, it is amazing that so many kids are born healthy in spite of total lack of pre-natal care. In this case she sees the possibility of early retirement, I don’t buy the story. If true and I was on the jury I would vote to award her $1 and pay her own court costs. Her personal responsibility is as you stated.
