Did Police Ignore ‘Hippie’ Rave at Wis. Capitol and ‘Bro Down’ With Protesters?

They were images that were odd, and to some shocking. In the halls of the Wisconsin Capitol on Saturday, young people banged drums, danced around, and blew horns as socialists and Marxist signs looked on. It was a scene described to The Blaze by a disgusted observer as a drug and alcohol-infested rave that Capitol police ignored. And while the Capitol Police deny those charges, it seems one prominent protester noticed something interesting, too.
Originally we brought you video of the alleged “substance-fueled” rave on Monday. That video showed protesters dancing, banging drums, and playing loud music in the halls of the Capitol:
Now we’ve uncovered video suggesting Capitol police are supporting the protesters. Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who joined the protesters over the weekend, noticed the “hippie drum circles” in the Capitol, too. But he also noticed something else: the cops were very buddy-buddy with the protesters.
In an interview with GritTV, Morello admitted he was “broing down with the cops,“ meaning that instead of having to ”sneak” around the police, he said, some of them were openly expressing support for the unions and stopping to take pictures with Morello:
That‘s interesting considering that we’ve obtained extended footage of the alleged “substance-fueled” rave (or the “hippie drum circle”). The new video shows police standing by, and watching, as the party rages on:
We called the Capitol Police to see if anyone noticed, or reported, on the alleged substance use in the Capitol. According to the police, no.
Capitol Police spokeswoman Carla Vigue told us no arrests had been made from Saturday on, and no one has reported any drug or alcohol use within the Capitol or on Capitol grounds.
“The protesters have been very peaceful and very cooperative,” she said. Regarding the possibility of people using substances, with specific reference to the video of them looking on, she added, “That would never be able to happen.”
She cited the “couple hundred” police patrolling the Capitol each day in making her statement. Because of security protocol, she said she could not detail exactly where police were stationed but said generally police were roaming “all over.”
So what does this mean? In the end it’s a he-said-she-said. Vigue denied police were joining in with protesters and, according to her, drug and alcohol use inside the Capitol could “never happen.” The disgusted observer suggested otherwise, and Morello claims police were “down” with protesters and expressing their union support.
At minimum, then, couldn’t you say such events are at least a possibility? We asked the Capitol police that question in a follow-up. We have yet to hear back.

The first step in taking down the overpaid unions has happened. The people’s voice are finally being heard above the abusive shouts and protests of these undeserving people in the face of a national economic crisis.
There should have been a sign that said:

What a treasure, seeing the spirit of freedom and protest alive and well in the Wisconsin state capitol; but now we have cool cops, not those rednecks that once beat back the people! Groovy, that’s what I say — let’s “mellow out” and stop the war man! Right on! So what if you got a little red book in your back pocket! Its Madison brother! Got a problem? Maybe some “mellow yellow” will help; pass the doobie! Rock on! Step into my time machine, its a free concert from now on! Teach your children well my friend!
Except its 2011 and these videos show how ridiculous the left can be, give me a break, a half-century later and people still can’t get over it, its embarrasing…looks like a history project…

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 6:42pmOne thing is for certain. The Chief of Police did not much like Governor Walkers comment that he “had considered” planting people to disrupt the peaceful protests. No, I’m not making that up. Here is the item from the Milwakee Journal Sentinal: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/116828353.html
The same info is on the police departments website.
If you follow that link, you can also check out the fact check on Walkers statement that the protestors were mostly from out of town (false by the way).

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 6:50pmHe didn’t “consider” it. He thought of all the reasons why it was a bad idea. It was mentioned in the prank call that he recieved the other day. The lefty disguising himself took the Lords name in vain like a billion times, was saying stuff like “yea, down with those unions”, stuff like that – trying to get Scott to join him in his potty mouthery. The guy suggested the idea to Walker, then Walker said they had thought about it, and defused it quickly because it was such a horrible idea. Walker is a good guy, and he wants whats good for the people. Only the silly idiots can’t see that.

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 6:58pmI don’t know about this particular group of protesters. My guess is that they spend most of their time at a local Hooka bar, but SEIU was bused in from all over for this protest and the protests have been far from peaceful, so I‘d need to know Walker’s comment in full context. Was he talking about this individual group of protesters or the protests as a whole?
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinal wouldn’t happen to be a liberal rag would it? You might not be making it up, but they certainly might be. Was this an official news item written by a full-time journalist for the paper, or was it an opinion blog written by a free lance writer? Any smart person would never take a blogger at full faith and confidence, that would be stupid.

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 7:54pmI’m from Wisconsin, pray for me. Since the teachers went back to work on Tuesday there probably aren’t many teachers left in the crowd. I read the Politifact article, and it was pretty subjective. If I were from out of state not wanting to be detected it wouldn’t be really tough to find a Wisconsin or Packer shirt to wear. In any case, everybody that did any sort of checking DID find out-of-staters in this pack. Only makes sense: if I could walk a few blocks to my own real bed, why would I sleep on cold marble in a sleeping bag. Unless, of course, the pot had affected my judgment. Anybody who is a stickler for the facts: If collective bargaining was a right, that would mean that close to half of the states’ workers (plus the federal workers) have been denied those rights all along. We are NOT looking to become some sort of “odd duck” when it comes to collective bargaining rights and attempt something no other state has ever attempted.

There was in fact a large section of the protesters that were bussed in from out of state. I live right off a main through way into Wisconsin and I saw many upon many of buses coming in from Illinois, Indiana, etc headed to Madison. As I understand there was a large section coming from Minnesota and other states as well. Gov. Walker may have overstated how many but it was not by a staggering amount as you are seemingly asserting. As a resident of Wisconsin I can assure you that things are not necessarily as you are claiming.

May God have mercy on this great nation…

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 10:59pmAm I the only one who is disturbed by the fact that these people are chanting and singing and posting SDS signs in the capitol building, and the police are complicit in this?
Seeing these socialist signs draped over the balcony reminds me of all those WWII movies I’ve seen where the Nazi flag unfurls to the sound of cheers and happy songs.
The blissfully ignorant masses welcomed their murderous leaders with songs and praise. We have not learned. We will repeat it.

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 11:04pmI’m a Conservative Libertarian.
I like my weed, but I‘m no traitor I’m not a commie, I’m not unpatriotic or anti-American, and I’m not calling for the downfall of the United States.
I just want my personal, financial, and religious freedom.
That’s all.
And I’m not asking the government for it either. I‘m simply exercizing my rights regardless because they’re inalienable and nothing anyone can devise can indemnify themselves from liability in violating these rights.
The Lord is my witness.

Posted on February 26, 2011 at 2:15amEvery “police officer” who was derelict in his duty should be arrested, suspended, tried, fired, and imprisoned. Oh, wait, in a “police state”, the police run the state. Fire yourself? LOL!

Posted on February 26, 2011 at 11:02amtower7fema is a racist scumbag that hates women, children, and taxpayers. It it was up to tower 7 all dogs would be kicked daily and cats would have duct tape wrapped around their tails for his amusement. He also thinks that all school aged children should be fed hallucinogenic substances so that they may be more readily molded into liberals.
My question to tower7 is why do you hate American women, children, elderly, cat and dogs so much? Have you no compassion?

Didn’t your parents kick you out of the house yet? Surely you must have some type of marketable skill. Jealousy is not a skill. Wealth envy is not a skill. Rabblerousing is not a skill. most of your afflictions are all psychological infections. Its too bad that you are not as successful or as well respected as MR. Glenn Beck, the GW of our time. You have been relegated to the dustbin of failure and I really feel your resentment for all of those that are successful. Maybe one day when communism reigns you will finally be lifted to your true level where losers are actually winners.
Good luck ma’am.

Sinista I’ll give you the argument that they are to serve and protect according to the oath that they take, but that same oath calls upon them to uphold and enforce the laws that are placed before them. Now we can sit here and argue all day what those laws should be, personally I’m in the camp of legalizing drugs such as marijuana; tax it and be done with it, but until a law is deemed unconstitutional or stricken from the books it is their duty to enforce it. I say this not only as a former Military Police officer but family members that are police officers.
