Why the Marching Band and Confetti on Beck TV?

On TV last night, Glenn Beck started with a somber message: the celebrations that broke out yesterday — people jumping in lakes, etc — seemed inappropriate. But then there was a twist. They weren’t inappropriate because of what they were, but because of what they weren’t. After all, they didn’t have a marching band, confetti, and cookies (via PopWatch):
“This is a great day in the war on terror. But as I watched all the celebrations taking place on the streets of America, all over America, you may have — and maybe I’m alone — had a strange feeling,” Beck said. “You may have seen students jumping into the lake in Ohio and rushing to the White House bearing signs and smoking cigars. As I watched these things happen last night, I couldn’t help but be reminded of when the Palestinians danced in the streets and passed out candy after the 9/11 attacks, when they danced in the streets over the killing of five American students and the slaughter of a Jewish family. All of these things, you know and I know, were offensive. All of those victims were innocent. America, we are better than this. We are better than jumping into lakes and holding signs and cigars. I think we’re better than that. I mean, why hand out candy… when you can have cookies, and confetti, and a marching band, huh?”
So he rectified that by throwing his own celebration on TV:
Later in the program, Beck explained why he could throw a marching-band party:
“Every time I think that, ‘Oh, I don’t know if we could do the cookies or the confetti or whatever,’ I see that it’s not marching in the streets for innocent victims. It is celebrating in the streets for a journey that has been and hard and been fought valiantly with honor. And people have tried to do the right thing. And this guy was certainly not innocent….”

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 8:38amI acknowledge that the world is a much better place without Osama (Usama?) and that justice has finally been dealt. However, someone put it to me in a good way. Like it or not, Osama is still loved by God. I‘m sure he breaks God’s heart by his decisions and actions but is still loved. I strongly doubt that God is dancing in the golden streets over his death. And we should hold ourselves to a higher standard than those in the middle east. I realize that this guy was not innocent, but still…Hopefully Smak is right, that he was just mocking genuine celebrations. I haven’t listened to the radio show yet (I am always a day behind and am part of the Insider Extreme), hopefully he addresses whether or not he really is celebrating there.

You’re exactly correct! God is not celebrating. Hell has enlarged itself with one more lost soul. People all have the same basic human nature, and they will celebrate according to their values everywhere in the world. We need to realize that by celebrating death in our cities streets in simular manner like they do in Islamoland, we are throwing fuel on the fire. Remember it is God who strengthens your hand against your enemies. So if we by nature are going to celebrate in the streets for the whole world to watch us, then we should make it clear to the world that it is the REAL Lord God of Heaven and Earth, Jesus Christ, who enabled us to have the skill and strength to take this enemy down. Praise be to HIS Name! Not a phony god named Allah who was conceived in the pits of Hell out of the mouth of a false prophet. Look at the fruit which grows on the tree and you will know.
Report Post »As far as what Glen was trying to illustrate , I think Glen was trying to tell us not to be fools in our gladness at the death of Osama Bin Laden and take a look at ourselves from Gods perspective, don’t be too proud or haughty. There is a place here for godly graditude and humility.

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 12:19pmCaptain Crunch;
Perhaps the celebrations are throwing fuel on the fire, but the truth is our very existence throws fuel on the fire. It doesn’t matter what we do, they hate us.
Had we captured and held him…they would still hate us.
Had we respectfully handled his body and turned it over to family…they would still hate us.
Had we kept his body, respectfully handled it and buried it in an undisclosed location facing mecca…they would still hate us.
Short of the US as a nation embracing Islam, there is nothing we can do to make them not wish us dead. Actually, I’m not sure that would do it either.

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 8:09pmThere is no tragedy in OBL death only in the way he lived his life. Death is just a change from one state to the next. GODs sadness is over the fact that he pre-empted GODs role and ended peoples life prematurely and he will be judged by those actions.

Posted on May 4, 2011 at 5:16pmAliasfreak, I thank you for letting me know that there are some people who are still aware of things that are more important than worldly concerns. It saddened and sickened me to see the rejoicing over the death of Bin Laden. There is no doubt that his death was justified; he was a murderer. But the sickening displays of hilarity(that includes Glenn Beck) shows that our country has fallen to depths not known before. Bin Laden’s death should have been met with somber reflection and sadness that such a man died in his wickedness. God’s ways are not our ways. Scripture tells us in no uncertain terms that we are not to gloat over another human being’s downfall, no matter how vile they happen to be. It diminishes us and is strictly against Scriptural teaching(of which Glenn Beck and all Christians should be well aware.)
“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles,
lest the LORD see it and be displeased, and turn away his anger from him.” Proverbs 24: 18, 19
The next terror attack will bring the same obscene rejoicing in death and destruction to the Muslim Extremists as we have seen here. Neither is acceptable in the eyes of God. He has said so in His Word.

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 8:37amIssachar Crust you are so right. I’m saying the same thing. Funny how all this happened just before May 15th, planned attacks on Israel, flotilla going to Israel, plan to crash the stock market, etc. I said over a year ago that when Obama’s approval rating went below 40% they would find Usama and kill him, ultimately bringing Obama’s approval ratings up for re-election.
The Fed has increased the money supply to over 2 Trillion dollars, more than 300%. The Fed has been buying 70% of everything in the market. Even if they lose money, they can digitally put more zeros in their accounts. IF they can, WHY CAN’T WE. This market will crash lower than it was in March 2009.

The job is not completely done yet, as much aa I wish it had been with the death of that monster.

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 8:29amIf we can’t have just a short gloat-fest to celebrate the death of someone like Osama(Usama) bin Laden then we can never ever gloat. We should celebrate the fact that he has been granted the chance for martyrdom he has called for many of his followers to embrace(although he appeared reluctant to do so). We should celebrate that he has finally met face-to-face with Allah(wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall for that meeting). And we should celebrate the chance that Al Queada now has for democratic elections to fill the top spot(don’t hold your breath on that one). All-in-all I see where there are opportunities for celebration on many levels. Shoot into the air and begin passing out the little cakes and sweets!!!!!

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 10:07amI’m glad Glenn came around. My first reaction was to pump my fist in the air and shout. Grabbed my fave bourbon and got ahold of a few good friends online. Broke out a cigar too. I have never forgotten about 9/11. About a month back, I went back and watched tapes of the whole thing again. I think what spurred it was reading up and watching vids from truthers. Funny thing is, the more I listened to them, the more unbelievable their theories became. But in the course of that, I was reminded of the anger, sadness and tragedy of that day. It was good tho to refocus a bit. I needed to remind myself I suppose. I have prayed for years for OBL to get his due and I have imagined pulling the trigger on him and wondered if anyone would ever be able to lay claim to moment. I prayed and thanked God for delivering him into the loving hands of great Americans who with professional skill delivered him to “Allah” with their martyr makers. Call me un-Christian if it makes you feel better, but I’ll stand by my reaction.
