Did You Read About the Shrewd Move the Ron Paul Camp Pulled Last Night?

Ron Paul Iowa Caucus Delegates

Texas Rep. Ron Paul finished third in Tuesday’s Iowa caucuses, but that might not be the end of the story for Paul and the Hawkeye State.

First, recall that the Iowa GOP caucuses are about more than picking a presidential candidate; that’s only one part of the process. They also help decide party platform issues and elect delegates to the Republican County Convention — the first step to running as a delegate for the Republican National Convention.

As Business Insider noted, Paul’s huge organizational effort focused not just on getting votes, but on making sure Paul supporters stayed afterward to get themselves elected county delegates — the first stage in fortifying a solid wall of support come national convention time in Tampa, Fla. in August.

Business Insider explained in an exclusive: [emphasis added]

That‘s because Iowa’s Republican caucuses are non-binding — they are technically just a straw poll, so once selected, delegates are free to vote for whichever presidential candidate they choose.

“Part of what we’ve been training the Ron Paul people to do is not to leave after the vote,” Dan Godzich, a senior campaign adviser, told BI. “Stay and get elected to the conventions and get us those delegates.”

In the weeks leading up to the caucuses, Paul advisers pounded the state, making sure supporters knew what to do and organizing slates of delegates so that even if Paul lost the overall vote, he would still be well-placed in the delegate count.

Sources told Business Insider the Paul campaign is happy with the number of delegates it netted. While not providing specifics, the site reported a source said Paul “nailed down the delegates in all of Iowa’s smaller counties, and made a strong showing in several larger ones.”

Addressing supporters Tuesday night, Paul framed his campaign as a movement and vowed to keep its momentum rolling.

“We have tremendous opportunity to continue this momentum. It won’t be long that there’s going to be an election up in New Hampshire, and believe me, this momentum is going to continue and this movement is going to continue, and we are going to keep scoring, just as we have tonight,” he said.

LOL, the Pault ards will do anything to make it look like there is more support for Crazy Uncle Paul than there is. The guy would have been lucky to get double digits last night if it hadn’t been for Obama supporters temporarily registering as Republicans so they could cast a vote for a guy they will not be supporting in Nov when they pull the lever for the Socialist-In-Chief instead (Not that Paul will be an option in the General election anyway).

Oh im sorry. This is democracy in work. If you have a problem with supporters getting excited for their candidate than you are about as unAmerican as you can get. But then again if Paul was a neocon and still had all these followers that would be ok right? right…lets keep electing the same idiots over and over again. I have no allusions about Paul. But I know even if he doesnt get the nom, we still win by injecting real issues. Sorry your such a hater of democracy

James Madison, Feb. 3, 1792 “It is to be recollected that the terms ”common defence and general welfare,” as here used, are not novel terms, first introduced into this Constitution. They are terms familiar in their construction, and well known to the people of America. …On the contrary, it was always considered clear and certain that the old Congress was limited to the enumerated powers, and that the enumeration limited and explained the general terms. I ask the gentlemen themselves, whether it was ever supposed or suspected that the old Congress could give away the money of the states to bounties to encourage agriculture, or for any other purpose they pleased. “…”If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare…they may a point teachers in every state, county, and parish, and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision for the poor; they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads; in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress; for every object I have mentioned would admit of the application of money, and might be called, if Congress pleased, provisions for the general welfare.”
      Only Ron Paul gets this.

Ron Paul’s age = wisdom. His personality is an added benefit that endears most, not repulses.
Ron Paul is about the issues = making America and Americans great, so the world will want to follow.
No converts are ever truly won by the sword. RP’s foreign policy is his strength, not weakness.
Instead of making fun of the man, why don’t you try to counter his issues. You will fail.

I understand sincerely disagreeing with a candidate, but what I don’t understand is how hateful and disrespectful (and many, many others who don’t agree with him) are toward Paul and his supporters. I would doubt that you have ever stood for a cause and put so much time and energy into it as Paul supporters have. The proof that you haven’t is in your condescending words toward those who do. And this fact only proves that there is nothing in this world bigger or more important to you, than you!

I have been reading more about Ron Paul every day….His reasoning’s are not sound bytes. When he is quoted as wanting to defund Israel, the quote does not speak to the complete defunding of the middle east. This results by itself is a net gain for Israel. He goes further and states foreign aid to Israel would be an annual decision.
Iran’s oil will run out soon, sooner if sanctions are lifted; then the theocracy will collapse.

The rest of the world begs us to be policeman, yet does not pay for the service. Instead spend the money on socialism; let them pay for their own defense. But keep a close eye on each and every country.

I have read the entire Nazi interview. Have you?
This man has been around for a long time, HE is the maverick ; not McCain.

I personally think that insanity is spending 150% of your income year after year. If we spend ourselves into oblivion the rest of the world will not matter.

I know my prose are not as good nor perhaps as well presented as others; but I am sick and tired of our government meddling in our bedrooms, our kitchens, our DR’s office, and the rest of the world.
      Enough!

Do you really think it matters if Obama gets re-elected versus voting for another liberty trampling, big government progressive on the Republican ticket like Santorum, Romney, or Gingrich? Do you understand that you are only giving yourself a chance to vote for a radical progressive (Obama) versus a republican progressive? Sure, one will destroy the US at a faster pace (Obama) with our horrible Congress, but both will ultimately destroy this Republic that our Founders died and paid blood so that you, my fellow citizen, and the rest can be free? Please let me know where I went wrong.

Ron Paul in the guise of FDR was president in the ‘30’s when all three branches of government were Democratic Super-Majorities. Their combined policies of isolationism kept U.S. out of the war. Their non-action led directly to the deaths of at least 9 million additional people who, if we had intervened and helped our allies in Britain and France in the mid ‘30’s would not have died.

I do have to give FDR credit for finally saying, “When peace has been broken anywhere, the peace of all countries everywhere is in danger,” and for passing the “Fourth Neutrality Act” and the “Lend-Lease Act”. This led to our involvement, albeit 7 years too late. Should we ever get in a position like that again we have to ask ourselves whether Ron Paul’s isolationism is something we can live (die) with.

No, the cross over voters for Ron Paul last night were conviction voters. Ron Paul is the only candidate opposing the NDAA indefinite detention of US Citizens, even inside the US, without any due process, no attorney, trial, tribunal, nothing to show their ‘suspicions’ are incorrect. Obama signed the NDAA into law on New Year’s eve. Ron Paul opposes the Patriot Act removal of probable cause for a warrant to search private material. Ron Paul opposes FISA and the TSA.

There are more independents registered to vote now than Republicans, and last night Ron Paul got 8 out of 10 non GOP votes, according to one break down I saw. If your candidate is NOT Ron Paul, how does he intend to win independents and cross over votes to win the general election?

There is a REASON Ron Paul consistently polls better head to head against Obama than any other GOP candidate except Romney. And if you don’t believe he does, go to the RCP average OR Rasmussen (although Rasmussen doesn’t poll all candidates head to head against Obama on the same day, so it seems less accurate.)

Romney,RS and Newt will be fighting hard as they can for the “conservative” vote. They will be where we want them until after Florida when the winner will go back to RINO world. Without RP the process would be no fun at all – with RP we can make it a debate about real issues – not gay stuff or religion but shrinking the size of and limiting the Federal government before it’s too late. I hope RP stays all the way to the convention.

Part of winning in politics is learning how to play the game better than the rest. We “Paultards” have done that over the last 4 years. The GOP is vile, nasty, cruel, and not above cheating to get their way. By getting elected as delegates, we are simply using the system THEY put in place to keep good men like Ron Paul out.

It worked for Bush in Florida; it’ll work for Paul in Iowa. And beyond.

I bet he believes in dumb old fashioned American ideals, too, like taking personal responsibility for having a job or creating one if none are available and making your own way in life instead of socialism–giving all citizens a free ride or fascisn–giving big business a free ride. What a nut case!

A major part of the caucuses is to elect delegates and evaluate and change the parties platform if needed. SLY should not have been included in the title of this article and exhibits the writes prejudice toward Ron Paul. SMART would have been a much better choice. If voters and supporters did not stay after the voting to pursue being a delegate for their candidate, I blame it on the candidates’ lack of prepardeness.

I’ll be honest and admit that I was entirely disappointed last night but when I heard Dr. Paul give his remarks to his supporters it dawned on me just how big this was.. It was not about winning Iowa… It’s about a movement to take back this country to its Constitutional foundations! It will not be easy and it may not be won in this election but it’s a fight and a fight worth having… Unlike I might add the fights in the Middle East that have cost us trillions of dollar, 10s of thousands of dead and wounded, 100s of thousands of native civilians dead and wounded and what do we have to show for this sacrifice people? Let me tell you what we have to show for it… More instability and more hatred of America across the Globe! Furthermore, if you are claiming to be a Christian and you are throwing your support behind these policies then you obviously have innocent blood on your hands and you have been deceived by some very unsavory people with hidden agendas. You need to seek the face of Jesus and ask if he supports the slaughter of innocent women and children in the name of Democracy and ask him how many civilians is he willing to sacrifice in order to ensure that Iran does not produce an atom bomb. Personally I don’t see Jesus accepting this collateral damage just so that the Military Industrial Complex can continue posting its big profits and I don’t think Jesus would be too happy with those throwing their support behind the people that advocate these policies.

I didn’t have permission — but did it anyway — copying and pasting a note to the Ron Paul forums:

“I live in Israel, and I can tell you that if a libertarian like Ron Paul was a candidate here he would get at most 100 votes, not 30,000. You are lucky that you live in a country where so many people appreciate freedom. So when I hear you guys being so upset that RP received 22% and not 30% of the votes, I can‘t help but think that you simply can’t comprehend what great thing you have accomplished by supporting RP and freedom. We, libertarians in Israel and in Europe, can only dream about something even remote as what you have accomplished in Iowa.

Some of you blame yourself for not doing enough, or for doing too many phone calls. I think its nuts. First of all making phone calls is an amazing way to spread the libertarian ideology. Second of all, you have done A LOT, but even a lot is not enough to make millions of people who are used to live in a statist society to suddenly become freedom lovers. I admire what you have done, this is great for all freedom loving people everywhere. However I think we should all remember that our mission has just started. Rome was not built in one day, neither is appreciation for freedom. “

i though being a conservative was sticking to the intent of the constitution and promoting equal justice? apparently i am wrong. so i will now quit calling myself a conservative and instead label myself as a libertarian. i am tired of the inconsistency from so called conservatives.

@godlovinmom Paul graduated from Gettysburg College and Duke University School of Medicine. He served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. He worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist, delivering more than 4,000 babies. He has written numerous books, winning best seller lists on some. He has won numerous awards for his stance against gun control and strict stance against arbitrary taxation, among many other awards. As a member of Congress, he continues to refuse to sign up for the government pension that he would be entitled to in order to avoid receiving government money, saying it would be “hypocritical and immoral”. As a doctor he would not accept Government healthcare from his patients, and would instead offer free service. These are only some things he has achieved. I respectfully ask, what do you offer that’s so much better than him?

“Ron Paul has been a leader in the fight to defend and restore the Second Amendment.” – Larry Pratt, Executive Director, Gun Owners of America

“No member of Congress pays more attention to Second Amendment issues than Dr. Ron Paul.” – Dudley Brown, Executive Director, National Association for Gun Rights

democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.
Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

Does putting the suffix tard behind someone’s name pass for wit in big government Republican circles?

Mitt, Santorum, Gingrich, et al. are all selling big govenrment. Why don‘t you pick up a copy of Santorum’s “It takes a Family.” He cops to wanting big government conservatism. Those are his words. It’s a contradiction. Rick thinks he can centrally plan society and the economy. Willard and Newt suffer from the same fantasy.

Paul is the only one who takes his oath of office seriously. Read Article I, Section 8 sometime. Why don’t your big government heros propose the cuts that Paul does? Why do they ignore the clause on money? Why do they think the Federal Reserve is constitutional, or that it can centrally plan the economy?

Drugs, abortion, and most other issues are a state matter. Some of you ignore the Constitution whenever you want. You’re just like Democrats.

Evangelicals came out and voted for Santorum because they think he’s going to protect them from the homos. The people that make over $50,000 per year came out and voted for Romney. What they didn’t vote for was free markets, a traditionally conservative foreign policy, constitutional money, civil liberties, and trillion dollar spending cuts. Santorum, Willard, and none of the other mainline statists in the R party are going to deliver on that.

Rick Santorum’s powerful finish in the Iowa caucus is bringing fresh attention to his tenure in Congress, including ethics questions that dogged him about a preferred mortgage he received from a bank run by campaign donors, and federal funds that went to a real estate developer who backed his charity.

One of the top donors to Santorum’s charity was also the beneficiary of an $8 million Santorum-sponsored federal earmark, according to published reports. Melanie Sloan, a former federal prosecutor who filed an ethics complaint against Santorum in 2006 on behalf of a watchdog group, said her organization’s website received a tidal wave of visitors in the past 24 hours, and in an interview she said she believes people will discover that the GOP presidential contender is “hardly the moral paragon he purports to be.”

Why is this coming out now? Why not during Iowa and “the surge”?

To talked about Ron Paul legalising “Bad stuff”
I herd a saying from my constiutional professor. He said the best form of government is “Self government” with that said, the federal government cannot and will not enforce morality. No matter how much one tries to regulate morality, people with bad self government will still govern “badly” for example, in Montana, there is a county with a bad problem with Meth. They regulated the indgredents of meth (including medacine and common household items) so much that those with Good self government lost thier liberty to buy those items as they pleased.
So you know what happened. Those ones with bad self government started to make thier own form of drug by litterally taking a dump and ******* in jars and putting a baloon over the waste. The Carbon Minoxide built up in the baloon and people started to get HIGH off their own waste gasses!
lol. Here is the point of the story. Morality is always going to decline so long as GOd is out of the picture. Fixing the exteriors through regulation and bigger government is not how to fix it. You have to deal with the tumor. Self Morality.

Did you here the news? The biggest Jackass in the senate John McCain endorsed Mitt Romney that ought to push him passed that 25% popularity Not! Oh and another thing about your candidates none of the will be able to beat Barry O and his billion dollar war chest. Ron Paul could actually draw the independents away from good ole Barry O. Santorum can‘t he’s nothing but a war mongering homophobe Muslim hater. I am afraid Mitt will get confused in the debates on where he stands on the issues he has changed his mind so much. Newt probably won’t have the money to continue long without a good showing and Perry is done although I did kinda like him. So you can have your establishment I will take Ron Paul. Win or lose I will not change my convictions my gut tells me Ron Paul is the man for the job.

@Lateris I don’t recall him saying that Iran has no Navy. Maybe he spoke too quick. He has said in other interviews that Iran doesn’t have an adequate or serious Navy that can be a threat to the US. This is true. Two of their major war ships are from the 50′s. They don’t actually have any real contending or highly developed militaristic Navy. IMO, their Navy is a an absolute joke, compared to ours or any close ally of ours.

@godlovinmom Thanks for the response. His stance on drugs basically lies not on Legalization but decriminalization, which are two different things. And considering his positions consist of federal matters, not state, makes a huge difference. The main reason he takes those positions is because of the Constitution. The Constitution does not contain the word “drug” or mention anything of that matter in it. So my question in considering this from a legal (not political) perspective is as follows. What part of Article 1 Section 8 and Amendment 9 and 10 gives the federal Government Power to govern in those issues regarding private drug use by Citizens? Shouldn’t the States take care of that (punishment, regulation, and all)? Recently not even CA was able to legalize marijuana in a popular vote. I believe the federal Government has been a huge failure with these Progressive prohibitionist laws. They have not improved our society’s problems or immorality. I rather Jesus tell me what’s right, than have Big Government force me to do what they believe is right. It all comes down to individual responsibility. I do believe though that Law Enforcement may detain those who cause damage or transgress the rights of others, bring them to trial, and rule with exact judgement. These drug laws only give the impression that Government must, will and can take care of our society’s ills, but do nothing to place personal responsibility ahead. We need God, not more Government.

I have come to expect from you, proof by way of original video and audio, to prove what you say is true and to repudiate the spurious lies and claims against you…”

This statement as well as the context of your overall page needs to be subjected to rational logic and examination AFTER you ease from your emotional writ.

To say Glenn and Pat “attacked” with further implication in the citation it was without basis and fact is proof Sir, you have not listened well upon his radio or GBTV programs. Thankfully, he allows imunity toward no candidate. Many times he has offered Mr Paul’s record in both audio and visual over the years, I know, I live here in Texas and DO EXAMINE every item Beck brings to the table…and yes it can be time consuming.
If you were listening today you heard his caution as a new caller brought items concerning his relationships with libs in Penn and US Congress that Beck was unaware..presently, (be assured) his staff is digging deeper on Santorum’s record and associations.
Nevertheless, the undertone of your issue is not an unbalanced report on Mr Paul, its suggest your position is narrowed because Beck doesn’t support your agenda. It may be time for you to get some dirt under your fingernails and begin a full study on evey item of every candidate….they all have an issue to weigh. … as does Mr Paul

I too am for laws and for liberty. There is much grey area in between those two areas. Benjamin Franklin said that “A Republic was only meant for a moral people, it is inadequate for a nation of any other.”
A republic form of government assumes a good and moral self government. On the other hand, when there is bad self government. that is when a STATE government has the right to discipline through its judicial system.
What is bad self government? I would suggest bad self government is when an individual takes away from the liberty and freedom of another. This is exactly what the federal government is doing right now!
When it comes to the absuse of drugs, or alcohol. The issues do not revolve around the substance. They revolve around bad self government. Bad choises. Kinda like owning a gun. If somebody murders somebody with a gun (Or a sword for that matter) the problem is not the weapon. Its the person. Government has no right to take away the right to own a gun. They do have the right to enforce discipline on the bad actions of the individual.

Just because drugs are legalized does not mean everybody is going to use them. Somebody with good self government will not. Those with bad self government will always make bad decisions regardless of regulation. The only ones who get shafted in the end are those who obey the law. (Example: gun restrictions only apply to those who obey the law, not those who dont) I hope this makes sense. :) God Bless

“there will be no stopping them from doing their drugs, selling their bodies and killing babies..whats next then…we holed up in our homes because the freaks are at a no holds bar…”

You cannot ban with a law the desire to do drugs. All you do with the ban is force drug users to purchase them from criminals, who are invested in keeping the user addicted. In fact, the ban actually contributes to moral degradation. This was most obvious in the years surrounding prohibition.

You certainly cannot ban sexual desire. The unintended consequences of banning prostitution include the spreading of STDs and the exploitation, enslavement and murder of women.

Abortion is no different. If we ban abortion, you will not see women suddenly decide they don’t want abortions. Many will simply find an underground practitioner with no medical license. Not only will you have dead babies, but you will have women who are exploited at best, and dead at worst. Worth it?

Ironically, abortion is the only one of the 3 in which you can at least identify a victim whose rights were infringed upon, and it is the one that is legal.

“A Paul presidency in 1940 would have meant a war with Germany, but not Japan. However, a President Paul in 1917 would not have encouraged U.S. entry into that conflagration. If he was successful, there would have been no need for any declaration of war against Germany, as there would have been no Adolph Hitler and his Nazis in charge. He would have been, instead, an unknown house painter. With a President Paul at the helm, there would have been no holocaust; no 50 million people perishing during this war; no dropping of atomic bombs on innocent civilians, women and children, to our eternal shame.”

You don‘t seem to quite understand the prospect of Ron Paul’s drug stance. Just because it might end up legalized on the federal level does not mean that it would be legal. It would be left up to the states.

I have come to realize over the past couple of years that there are so many people out there that think it‘s the federal government’s role to regulate our lives. That’s wrong. Any regulation should be done at the state level. Doing so accomplishes a couple of things: it gives the people more say in how they want to live their lives by a) making their votes actually mean something, and b) giving them the ability to move to a different state that holds values closer to their own. There are certainly some actions that should be covered by the federal government, like murder, but drugs and prostitution are not among them.

Someone, in a posting on the Blaze, said it was interesting how Rick Santorum went from nothing to almost winning the IA caucus Tuesday night. I too became curious, especially after it was announced that the vote counting would be done at a “secret” location. The other articles I read earlier in the week seemed to indicate that the GOP establishment was worried RP might win the IA caucus. Then I stumbled on this

If the Democrats were to vote for their own, they’d vote for Gingrinch, or Romney. Romney signed California style anti-gun legislation when he was the gov of Maryland and spearheaded government healthcare. Oh, but he’s a Republican somehow, right? At least that’s what the “can’t think for themselves” Hannitized minions and the Limbots believe. Gingrich is a known international Socialist, but once again, the anti-freedom, America hating morons who can’t tie their shoes without drooling on them first, will vote against Ron Paul, because that’s what they were told to do. Man’s inability to think for himself is what got us where we are, and you clowns seriously want more of the same while hoping for different results? Really?

Well it‘s obvious that I’ve missed just one more onslaught by the Neo-Con Media establishment upon the Patriot Ron Paul… They simply hate him for his love for the US Constitution and his desire to stand by it.. These are evil people who hate America. They should be in the Democrat Party for that is where haters of America and our Constitution belong.

Wish I had a GBTV membership to cancel! lol I understand the desire to want to like Glenn Beck. We’ve never heard anyone espouse Conservative issues upon a National platform.. It was music to our ears and we wanted to believe it but it’s a mirage. Fool’s gold! Glenn Beck is not to be trusted not even for a moment! He’s a charlatan! Obviously the other Neo-Con fools like Hannity, Limbaugh, Levien, Wilcow, Oreilly, etc are not to be trusted.

“…You talk that shmack now. When Obama wins because you and the other morons who cannot see the truth drove Ron Paul supporters to a 3rd party, don’t cry. Just lie down and lick your nuts like a good dog….”

Your preceeding quote dictates that you substantiate what all non-Paul supporters realize…you are less concerned with the exactness of issues, and more concerned with the “affect rather than your cause”. Pitiful, this remark is essentially a threat of treason equal to interpretation that you woud rather further divide the country into a destructive third element if you do not get your way.

Ron Paul’s leadership to you has been a good example, I now have a better indication of the intentions through his supporters. You serve your master well.
This is strongly suggestive of a support for anarchy over order, the good of the very few versus the needs of the great many.

Do you really wish to gamble your future as to whether Iran wouldn’t use a nuke on us when they have access?

19 extremist were sold the promise of each receiving sixty-something virgins if the flew two planes into our World Trade Centers. What do you think they will be promised for carrying a nuke into the lap of America’s luxury when available?

You have to understand that the Powers That Be are there to undermine ideas like Ron Paul’s at every turn. They can’t have a shrinking government because that means shrinking power. They can’t have any shackles placed on the FED or any inquisitions into their activity because that puts kinks in their financing. The American people (and the world for that matter) have fallen into the same trap they always fall into its just that this time its on a much, much larger scale.

They love to use the media and their surrogates to ‘get the word out’ that Ron Paul and those like him are ‘nuts’. It is said so many times and in so many ways that it becomes ‘popular truth’ amongst the sheep. Most people have not the capacity nor the desire to critically analyze complex issues to arrive at the truth on their own. They are also afraid of being seen as a supporter of a ‘nut’ or a losing candidate. They feel more comfortable running with the crowd, especially if the ‘smart’ people are saying its the thing to do. This is just the nature of men. There are brief periods of enlightenment that occur once in a great while where there are enough willing to think for themselves that real and meaningful change can take place. Hopefully we can arrive at such a time soon.

Just to put it out there…does anyone notice how Iran‘s ’belligerent defiance’ always seems to flare up at convenient moments? Whenever the doctrine needs a boost its nice to have a boogeyman handy…

“the Pault ards will do anything to make it look like there is more support for Crazy Uncle Paul than there is.”
This is true. I live near Paul’s district and, since 2008, have been working with the county Republican party to make sure conservative, trustworthy people get into local offices. Many people in our local party are also active in the local tea party organizations and in no way resemble the big-money republican image that is becoming cliché lately. The biggest problem that we have faced is not from the democratic party, but from Paul People. Paul knows that he can’t get the popular vote so he pushes a few crazies (9-11 truthers and the like) to get into races for precinct chairs or delegates and, due to low voter turnout or lack of public awareness, walk into position with little attention. There job is to then ignore the vote of the public and cast the vote for Paul. Other, non-Paul-devoted delegates in the area were bullied during the ‘08 election in an attempt to force them to throw out the popular primary vote and cast the vote for Paul. Our county Republican chairperson was challenged for office by a Paul disciple whose tactic was to file so-many baseless official complaints against her that she would have to spend all of her time dealing with paperwork. The Paul camp has also filed lawsuits against the GOP in texas to force themselves in to power. Watch how people are immediately attacked for questioning Paul. “Liberty” is not “do what we say, or else

      @LookTowardsTheLight Border security?

If elected President, Ron Paul will work to implement the following common sense reforms (taken from his website):

      * Enforce Border Security – America should be guarding her own borders and enforcing her own laws instead of policing the world and implementing UN mandates.

      * No Amnesty – The Obama Administration’s endorsement of so-called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, will only encourage more law-breaking.

      * Abolish the Welfare State – Taxpayers cannot continue to pay the high costs to sustain this powerful incentive for illegal immigration. As Milton Friedman famously said, you can’t have open borders and a welfare state.

      * End Birthright Citizenship – As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be granted U.S. citizenship, we’ll never be able to control our immigration problem.

      * Protect Lawful Immigrants – As President, Ron Paul will encourage legal immigration by streamlining the entry process without rewarding lawbreakers.

As long as our borders remain wide open, the security and safety of the American people are at stake.

As President, Ron Paul will address immigration by fighting for effective solutions that protect our nation, uphold the rule of law, and respect every American citizen’s civil liberties.

      - Paul will bring our troops home to protect our own borders. We need boots on the ground, here!

@LookTowardsTheLight Paul wants to cut back on militarism, not defense. Defense is putting our own troops on our own borders to secure our own country. Militarism is sending our troops to Uganda or Libya to protect and serve foreign rulers and their citizens in another country on our dime. Plus, we’re BROKE. How about we defend our own country first and stop leaving our borders unsecured and wide open, and then we worry about other Nations? Heck, isn’t that what patriotism used to be about?

@LookTowardsTheLightthe We have the greatest military ever organized and the most prosperous Nation to ever be found in the whole history of the World. We have the best trained troops and the most advanced weaponry ever conceived on God’s green earth! We will defeat our enemies. They stand no chance. I will not let manufactured fear and propaganda dictate our Nations future. If we want war. Lets declare it by congress, fight it, win it and come back home. No nation building. Unless we face an immediate threat or imminent attack, let’s not loose our cool. Let the Rule of Law and Reason prevail. We have more than enough resources to deal with this situation, and plenty of missiles pointed at our enemies, at any given time. We should be careful to not overreact or act too soon. Paul said in an interview that he would use submarines to protect the US. He would have ready ships and the kind to defend us. Our modern foreign policy more often than not uses our troops for nation building, while leaving our borders unsecured and wide open. We need to reevaluate our priorities, here at home. We have enough satellites, carriers, submarines, stationed missiles and other high tech weaponry to protect our homeland and our interests far off. We really should rethink about our strategy of sending our troops all over the world, it’s spreading our military too thin.

Pork is never “stuffed” into Appropriations Bills. When pork is part of such a Bill, it is a portion of the funds that will have already been requested. So whether pork is part of an Appropriations Bill or not, the money is spent no matter what.

Also, we have to distinguish between pork and legitimate allocations of funds which are to be appropriated. Since most Appropriations Bills aren’t necessary, Ron Paul votes against them; But since the money that is not earmarked (aka “allocated”) will be spent by the Executive Branch, rather than by Congress who has that responsibility, Ron Paul’s position is that 100% of the money that is to be appropriated should be earmarked by the representatives of the people.

More people want to reduce the spending and Ron Paul wants to cut 1$ trillion dollars of real spending. Also, most Ron Paul supporters are very dedicated and sorry if other candidates do not quite have the same level of commitment. I do not need to argue about why I think Ron Paul should win because I mostly get attacked but yet no one will contact their other candidates to adopt some of solutions Ron Paul has put forth as solutions, so I only have one choice. And if he were to run as independent and the GOP loses well then that is what you get for not looking for better solutions to the problems.

Once again wit your spewing. You obviously have never served as a delegate or know the process. I have, and if you know anything enough about how to apply your desires for the nation, you do it through delegates – that is how it works period. This is a smart strategy so that the fools which have spoon fed you won’t do it first.

Yeah yeah, I know, you don’t understand. Don’t worry, later we will give you cookies and milk to calm you down and make you feel better and explain in detail how to save a nation – you can thank us all later when you still have your freedoms.

What, exactly, did Paul’s supporters do that was wrong?

This is the process that has been in-place for years, his supporters are simply inserting themselves into the process, as supporters of any other candidate is equally entitled to do.

Ron Paul has a set of ideas and concerns that he shares with a passionate number of supporters, encouraging his supporters to become delegates means his ideas and concerns will likely outlast his Republican Presidential campaign… Pau will likely not be the GOP candidate, and if all his supporters are invested in having influence over the GOP through their becoming delegates then the likelyhood he will bolt the GOP and run as a third-party candidate becomes almost nil.

Hey QP. I’ll try to put this in simple terms.
Imagine that a foreign army had invaded the US. For some reason they thought BHO was a threat to the rest of the world, and wanted to “liberate” us.
So they have their troops going door to door kicking them in looking for “bad guys,” and you are just in there hanging out watching TV.
Just for fun, one of the foreign soldiers takes his 12 gauge to your little bird, and then laughs at you as he walks out the door.
What would you do QP? Would you just roll over and take it? Or, would you get mad?

You’d be mad QP. You’d be wanting to pay them back however you could in the worst way possible.

That is a CIA term called “blowback” and it is what happens when we occupy other countries around the world, when they don’t want us there. Have I put it in simple enough terms for you QP?

Our CIA has been assassinating, overturning, and propping up, dictators around the world. The rest of the world is tired of that behavior.
They don‘t hate us because we’re not of their religion, or because we’re free and prosperous. They hate us because we’ve been dropping bombs on them for DECADES, and killing their loved ones.
      (like your little bird)
Are you beginning to see the picture QP?

No violation of ethics has been committed either, caucuses work because the selection of delegates is based upon precinct population and those delegates are chosen by other precinct caucus goers… this is how the Republican Party does its nominations… Ron Paul informing his acolytes on how to correctly maneuver in a system we have created and they have agreed to participate in is not sly, or mischievous… there is no guarantee that Paul voters turned delegates will vote Paul on a later date. Besides, no one has a right to tell anyone what ethics they must hold or follow.

I have been a big Fox News and Glenn Beck fan for years, BUT I am DISGUSTED by the 24/7 smear campaign that they waged against Ron Paul for the last few months. Ron Paul would have easily won the Iowa Caucus if it wasn’t for the blatant lies spewn by both Glenn Beck and Fox News against Ron Paul. Let’s see if they go after Rick Santorum with the same vigorous vulgarity that they went after Ron Paul. If Rick Santorum couldn’t even win his last Senatorial election, how’s he supposed to win the presidential election. Also, are they going to pound him on his ****-phobic and, at times, pro-choice stances as well as his love for EARMARKS?!

It seems the “establishment” picks out the candidate THEY WANT, and use the media to smear anyone that looks like they could make a run at their “chosen one”. I just never thought I’d see Fox News and Glenn Beck, especially, stoop to the Saul Alinsky tactics that they so often slammed the left for doing. SHAME ON THEM! I‘m about ready to burn all my Beck and O’Reilly books and cancel my memberships. FNC is now FPC, The Fox Propaganda Channel.

@KSPATRIOT What did Glenn Beck do again? Everything that I’ve seen on the blaze been fair towards Dr. Paul. It seems that most of the Ron supporter call foul at any and everything that isn’t promoting Ron.

Most of this stuff is fair. I think the blaze is and has been quite supportive of Ron Paul. Even this article is not negative in any way. All get from this article is they are saying that Paul had been smart/sly among the rest of the pack. You crazies need to grab a dictionary. How is being sly some how some type of secret dig, slam or insult?

It‘s Paul’s own words and actions that have people worried. Beck & Fox are just making people aware of what he has said. The same human nature that idolized Obama (aka “Mr. Hope & Change”) has created the “Paulites”. While Paul has some good views he is “off the wall – crazy” with his views on the Middle East (which is still a MAJOR issue). Try & be objective and don’t put on the same rose colored glasses that the Obamites wore in 2008.

Also, are they going to pound him on his homophobic and, at times, pro-choice stances as well as his love for EARMARKS?!

This is his third run for president, so I don’t think sly has anything to do with it. He’s learned lessons of the past and applied them. Paul and romney are the only two R candidates on the ballot in Virginia but if you recall, the other “sly” so called candidates are trying to sue to get on the ballot. Even though they didn’t follow the rules, they cry “it’s not fair”.
Ron followed the rules. SO if following the rules is “sly” then so be it.
He‘s up against a media onslaught that isn’t overly fair, wouldn’t you say? or is that ok with you even though the other candidates have major issues. For instance, where did all that money come from in santorums campaign in the last few days? No one is asking that question! Is it magic?
Romney, we know where his money is coming from, BANKERS.
The majority of Ron Paul’s campaign funds are from people that want their country back from the hands of the elites.
So if you’re going to call sly, point your finger at the real perpetrators.

By that argument what Obama is doing with Czars is also perfectly legal under the Constitution regarding the responsibility of the President to effectively enforce the laws of Congress; so is the existence of the Department of Education, the CIA, the FBI and the EPA.

Once you go down the slippery slope of following the letter of the law and ignoring the spirit of it, you are no better than what you are fighting against and in fact have become part of the problem.

I thought this article would mention how Ron Paul sidestepped CNN’s “accidental” video feed glitch that happened just as a veteran was being interviewed on his strong support of Ron Paul’s stand against militarism. Notice that was the ONLY time the whole evening that CNN had trouble with the video. Maybe the FCC hit the kill switch when they realized America was hearing why RP’s foreign policy is so great. RP overcame that by apparently announcing someone in his camp was going to make remarks so CNN would continue coverage, then he put the mic back in front of that same veteran. Our caucus watching party of over 100 people cheered when we say that move. Great job Ron Paul !!!

Someone I do respect and believe, Stuart Varney, made a very interesting comment on Fox News this morning. He said the stock market would’ve fallen only if Ron Paul had won. According to Varney, the general feeling among economists is that Paul would be the only candidate who would be extremely dangerous and detrimental to the American economy. I know Paul supporters will vehemently deny it, but the effects of a Ron Paul nomination would be devastating at all levels, not just on the foreign front. America would be in great peril, just through a different ideology. It’s choosing the snake over the scorpion. Ultimately, they both inflict great harm.

COLT, you and your relatives are free to vote for whomever you wish, regardless of party label. It may be too late, anyway. Obum, the commie, being an evil man himself, knows all too well he has to use an iron fist against his enemies. Not that he cares about America, but he doesn’t want his reign to be upset by another 9/11 or worse. That’s why most of those young Dims who voted for Obum in 2008 thinking he would end all wars have been sorely disappointed and are attracted to Ron Paul now. If Paul ever became president you would quickly regret the folly of your choice. Evil powers have no wish to “emulate” Paul’s definition of American exceptionalism – although I suspect Paul sides with those who believe we are “a nation of cowards,” but he won’t express it in those terms for obvious reasons.

I wonder a lot about you, brother. How can you ignore the warnings in the Word of God? “The devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Why doesn’t he “emulate” God? Because God is a warmongering God who kicked him out of heaven, and commands the archangel Michael and his angels to kick his sorry butt? Don’t you realize Paul has a false “spirit of peace” behind him?

@kryptonite I do not ignore the Word of God. I study and take into serious consideration every prophecy and commandment. Read Ezekiel 38-39, Psalms 83, and Zechariah 14. God alone defeated those in the land of Caanan by his hand alone. David through trust in God’s might defeated Goliath. God alone will defend and fight for Israel against all her enemies. He will gather all nations together against Israel, and crush them, to show the world that he alone is King over all the earth, for the world has denied and rejected the true God. The god of this world is Satan, whom will lead all these nations into rebellion against God and influence hatred towards God’s people. What do you mean by the “false spirit of peace”? If anything, throughout the New Testament, Jesus preaches peace even in the midst of evil and persecution. That’s not to say to act defenseless, but to act within Just actions.

“The defense policy of the United States is based on a simple premise: The United States does not start fights. We will never be an aggressor. We maintain our strength in order to deter and defend against aggression – to preserve freedom and peace.” – Ronald Reagan

I actually enjoy civil discussion and debate with people who have differing viewpoints on politics, religion, social issues etc. Many times I learn something new, see an issue from a different perspective and consider my own thoughts in a different light. The key word is CIVIL. When people respond with anger, derogatory personal remarks, accusations and rabid fanaticism, they kill any chance of sharing their opinions with me. Anything they have to say is automatically irrelevant.

Foot stomping, holding your breath until you turn blue and throwing tantrums has never impressed me much.

You’re spot-on, 70Mach. Dr. Paul is the only non-progressive running. One would think that Glenn would embrace our only hope for real change in DC. Instead, theBlaze.com turned out only to be a better-looking arm of foxnews.com All media has an agenda. Glenn taught us that. TheBlaze is no different.

Beck is more concerned about Israel than he is about the United States these days. I can’t even watch anymore, he has turned into a bible thumping creepy weirdo. He is right in there with the war mongers that run the republican party. Never thought I would see the day. He had a chance to unite his audience with the Ron Paul campaign and instead decided to further his own agenda instead. And to think that I used to have the highest respect for this guy.

Not a Paul supporter either, but it works the same way here in Colorado. You’ve got district, state, and then national delegate hoops still to jump through. It’s educating yourself and your supporters on the process, not sly.

All this does is show how uninformed the people are who end up supporting other candidates on a whim. The most informed voters, like them or not, are Ron Paul supporters. This isn’t so much a move to somehow invalidate the results. It’s to protect Ron Paul from the inevitable attempt by the Republican establishment to steal the nomination from him. They can’t do it if he has the delegates. If he won the straw poll last night in Iowa, but his supporters all went home afterward, then the establishment delegates could easily decide to support a RINO over him when the votes really count.

It comes down to his supporters simply being informed and intelligent.

Agreed. It’s not sly there Blaze writer. It is part of the process in Iowa as in many states. To characterize it as such is misleading.

Of COURSE it’s SMART. That is what the process is all about, which obviously flies over Morgenstern’s head.
      Most Military support.
      Most Independent support.
      Most youth support.
Most Democrat that “voted for change, but got more of the same” support.
      Most PALEO Conservative support.
      Most anti-establishment support.
Either the GOP wakes up and realizes their roots in PALEO Conservatism, or they are going to get beaten like a DRUM.

Smart is right. I also noticed the Blaze isn’t sly at all in their dislike for Ron Paul. And Santorum is “Rousing” for saying game on, give me a break. Only one candidate actually has a plan to balance the budget. We’re broke, remember?

@BLAZER123 You do understand sly doesn’t mean evil. right? The blaze do or say anything negative about Paul in this article. They just said that he was sly aka smart. Calm down buddy.

If anything this article is pointing out how lacking the rest of the candidates are for not attempting to do the same thing.

@The-Real-Enrico – The use of sly either in a positive or negative slant is simply incorrect usage. It is merely an education of supports who may or may not be aware that they have district, state, and then national delegate hurdles within the caucus process. Romney campaign workers made efforts to educate Colorado caucus supporters in the last election. I see no difference here eventhough I am certainly not a Paul supporter. To elucidate what can be an over complex process is not “sly”.
