‘Dikshit’: TV Anchor Laughs Uncontrollably at Diplomat’s Name On Air

New Zealand TV host Paul Henry couldn’t contain himself when teasing an upcoming interview with an Indian official. Henry repeatedly laughed and cackled when talking about New Delhi’s chief minister, Sheila Dikshit. But some aren’t finding it funny.
Henry’s outburst enraged Indian officials, especially considering his seemingly racists comments. “I‘ve known about her for a while and I’ve been laughing ever since,” he said, and then added, “It‘s so appropriate because she’s Indian.”
He persisted in mocking her name even after being told that the proper pronunciation was “Dixit.”
According to the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC), India summoned New Zealand’s high commissioner to voice its concerns over the incident. Since then, New Zealand has apologized for the remarks and Henry has been suspended:
The incident mirrors another overseas interview*, where a journalist couldn‘t help form laughing at an interviewee’s high voice:
*(Editor’s note: some readers have pointed out that the third video could be staged. That might be true. According to some unattributed writing on the movie site IMDB, the video comes from the Belgian comedy show “In de Gloria.“ The clip is reportedly from an episode called ”Boemerang“ and was featured on ”The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. And if anyone can read Dutch, this article might prove it’s a skit. Either way, enjoy)

Posted on October 8, 2010 at 10:25amLook, lets not make a big deal out of it. This guy thought is was hilarious, and it is a little funny, although not as funny as he makes it to be. So, OK, get over it now. Perhaps the lady should consider changing the spelling as many Americans do. We can’t help what our name is, but we can change it. Consider a woman I once knew who was named Anita Dick. She eventually changed her last name.

We know a man whose name is “Dick Dickie”. His first name well fits his obnoxious personality.

I guess we should really get all over Jay Leno for his wedding announcements like the Long-Wiwi wedding or the Drilling-Cousin wedding or maybe the Little-Gay wedding or how about the Kumon-Topomi wedding. These are actual wedding announcements but I suppose it would be unprofessional and juvenile to chuckle at them eh?

If you dont like the title. Dont click it. And more importantly – dont comment – the stories will get less hits and theblaze will adjust to that response accordingly.

Posted on October 8, 2010 at 10:44amNORWAY giggles, “…doesnt need to be straight politics all the time.”
Yep. If we always talk politics, we will always be angry. This would not be fun; we would all be acting like cranky badgers suffering hemorrhoids.
During my rural Oklahoma childhood, pert near everyone has a funny name.
Crutcher, Moss, Jinci, Flossy, Lindel, Weldon, Imogene, Effous, Otis, Hattie, Obed, Effie, Edessa, Ardella, Oreatha, Snow, Allie, Kizzie, Dolphus, Dorcas, Cornie, Birdie, Sukie and not to be overlooked, my husband Billyray.
Boy who sold a lot of white lightning, his name is “Lindoo”. My favorite Chocaw elder, a hard drinking knife fighting man, is Cravin.
How would you like to have one of those names? I get to ratchet jawing about my farming childhood and people accuse me of lying about names of people.
A funny notion is out here in California men refuse to call my boy, “Billyray”. Virtually all men call him “Bill” and most think his last name is “Ray”. Girls out here swoon and coo, “Oh, Billyray, you’re quite the cowboy!” He fingers the brim of his cowboy hat and is a gentleman, “Thank you, ma’am. Say, do y’all like to rodeo ride?”

Posted on October 9, 2010 at 10:14amYes, life is comical. I come from the attitude that if I don’t laugh about some of this stuff, the stress of it all willl make some of my body parts fall off.
Life is ridiculous and silly so often, and if you good naturedly laugh about it, you’ll live longer. Whether I‘m laughing at someone’s antics or my own foilbles, it’s all good. Walking around perpetually offended or being offensive probably is a high blood pressure precursor.

Posted on October 8, 2010 at 1:34pmCalmglass…not everyone is so “calm as glass” in any setting — especially those who were born with a generous helping of “a sense of humor”. I think those who can behave as you, are certainly in the rare minority and are not reflective of most of society.
When someone “looses it” in a setting where it is supposed to be “profressional”, then one cant help but laugh at the person who is “loosing it” via uncontrollable laughter — unless, of course, she was ‘calm as glass’. And even THAT would be funny…seeing absolutely no expression on one person’s face, when looking at another person who is “loosing it”. It’s the conflict of emotion and setting that drives the humor…Its the….oh well, you probably wouldn’t understand. ;;shrugs;; Pity that you will miss so much in life, with such a detached personality.
