Disabled Flower Girl Found Dead, Police Charge MotherAn 8-year-old Long Island girl who has cerebral palsy was found dead in her basement Saturday, just two hours before her cousin’s wedding. The girl’s mother was found unconscious near the child and the New York Post reports that police are questioning the mother in what could be a possible homicide-attempted suicide case.

“The body of Julie Cirella, who has cerebral palsy, was found with no visible signs of trauma in the basement of the Plainview, LI, home she shared with her mom, grandmother and five others, said Nassau County police Detective Lt. Kevin Smith.

‘There’s a wheelchair decorated with flowers in the home. Apparently this 8-year-old girl was supposed to go down the aisle in this fashion,’ Smith said.

The girl’s grandmother discovered the grisly scene when she came home at around noon. Julie was on a mattress on the floor and nearby the grandmother’s daughter-in-law, Veronica, 30, was unconscious with a cord wrapped around her neck. Police say they believe she might have tried to strangle herself. The wedding and reception carried on, as stunned relatives learned of Julie’s death.

Veronica is currently awaiting arraignment after being charged with manslaughter in connection with Julie’s death. It is unclear how Julie died. WSJ reports that Police say there were no outward signs of trauma on Julie’s body. An autopsy was performed Sunday but the results were not made public.

    In the rush to judgement we may not be seeing the total picture. In cases like this we first sight the parents or parent and automatically assume guilt. We then tend to overlook or push aside the truth in a rush for judgement. If there was foul play in this matter an investigation will prove it. For those who know CP Ceribial Palsy they understand the devastating effects it plays upon it’s victim. I know first hand the outcomes to the child and to their parents and families. It isn’t pretty in any case. Remember a lynch mob mentality is just that, a lynch mob mentality it serves a single purpose which is always wrong.

      Well said. The ignorant media and easily led masses have no clue what went down in that home at this point. Folks with disabilities often don’t have just one presenting problem… structurally, their bodies can present with abnormalities with the GI, respiratory… any number of systems… that make them medically fragile. There is every possibility the little girl died of natural causes and the mother was grief stricken. It is also possible the mother killed the child, but, if that’s the case, what do the police know that we (and the media) don’t?
      Knee-jerking just makes folks look stupid and credulous to the point of being easily led sheep. What we know now is that the girl was found dead, it appears the mother attempted suicide and the police are charging this woman with manslaughter. And we don’t know why specifically.

    Yes, the death penalty does work as a deterrent. Yes, it does matter that people are on the tv saying that disabled children are ‘barely alive’ anyway. Yes, it does matter that no one holds politicians to the same standards as the public. Yes, it does matter when you call a terrorist an ‘insurgent.’ You reap what you sow.

    Pray for this child who was failed by the progressive agenda. Abortion has devalued God’s purpose for this child. Who is looking out for this precious child. God will judge our indifference.

    I believe we need more facts, please, before we condem. So often we find out later there is more to the story. I cannot imagine the emotional pain a woman and mother goes through with that diagnosis for a child. It is usually caused by birth problems, amd is a tough thing to deal with. Whatever happened the child is at peace and with God. She is now safe, I hope her mother will be o.k. one way or another. I am sure her pain will never end.

    One thing comes to my mind when Michele Obama, claiming to be a Christian and good humanitarian stresses that our children aren’t getting fed right at home so should get good school lunches. She goes on to say that school lunches may be the only meal they get. Well, where I am going here is there is another hunger our children aren’t getting at home and it has also been snubbed out of schools. That is a hunger for the Lord, but the socialist seem to believe their salvation is all these children need to be fed, but statistics are telling us something different. The world is hungry for God, in our homes, our schools, our government, and even forgotten in many churches. Politicians need to stop saying they are Christian to get elected and then going back in the closet. Gays come out of the closet and it is politically correct but Christians reveal themselves only when needed for self gratification and then back in the closet again when the nation needs them. Save our families and children by teaching them the Truth so they know how they’re supposed to act and God will take care of the rest. No matter how sad this situation is I know God is taking care of this child, but our country and the leaders we chose could do more to comfort this child and others before we gave them up. She said “Mothers should have the right to snuff her child out with a pillow to put the child out of it’s misery”. GREAT GODLESS MOVEMENT!!! PROGRESSIVISM!!!!!!

      The Prosecutor didn’t do his job. He thought he could win this case on emotions-the currency of liberals. The jury required facts, evidence and clear information in order to do justice to, “beyond a reasonable doubt”. He thought, (I heard him say this in an interview) just flashing the photos of the child’s remains would elicit a guilty response from the jury, but they needed information based on facts. They actually did their job, the Prosecutor didn’t. John Adams wouldn’t have settled for that shoddy a presentation by the prosecution. Sadly, in courtrooms across our country everyday, juries base their verdict on emotions rather than evidence. Our justice system is in a real shambles-this I know from personal experience.

      I have to disagree: Casey did not report her daughter missing for 31 days and even then it was the Grandmother who reported the missing child – Casey lied about the child’s whereabouts and spent those 31 days after the child was missing partying and living the ‘beautiful life’ – evidence in the trunk (smell, hair with decomposition banding, high level of chloroform) indicate the child’s body was in the trunk, the body discard in a swamp like trash with duck tape on the skull, the duck tape was unusual yet found in the Anthony house, the blanket was consistent with the bedding on the child’s crib, the hamper was one of a pair found in the Anthony house – search for chloroform was done when only Casey was at the home – Casey was the only one seen with the car the day the child was missing and then was the only one with control of the car while the child was obviously in the trunk. I don’t think it takes rocket science to connect Casey to the person who disposed of the child and also killed the child. Otherwise, why would you have duct tape on a child accidently dying? Why would you throw a child away like trash and then party the night away if it was an accident? Where was the guilt of a child ‘accidently’ killed? Why did it take 3 years for the accident theory to materialize? When she was being grilled by the police, why, if it was an accident, did she insist otherwise and kept to her insane Nanny story?

      Most of us normal human beings can surmise what happened to Caylee Anthony. We just don’t know the reason why Casey killed her. My personal feeling is that she killed her to hurt mommy and daddy, but I can’t prove it.

      There certainly wasn’t any accidental drowning in the above ground pool, because Casey left the Anthony home after arguing with her mother on the fifteenth. She killed her “inconvenient” child on the sixteenth. Casey then went on a party spree, never mentioning, or giving a thought to her daughter. NEVER mentioned her daughter to anyone!

      I believe that there is an Universal system of Justice. Casey won’t escape what she has done to her innocent baby. The Laws of the Universe will give her what she deserves.

    Let’s call it what it is. EVIL!!!!. And EVIL knows no bounds in its depravity. People have given into lewdness, licentiousness, wickedness in all forms whether it be mass murder, sexual immorality and promiscuity, thievery, envy, avarice, slothfulness. Those of us who say we love justice, freedom and peace are guilty of loving these things so much that we have not been watchful and have allowed the enemy within our gates. Our silence and “live and let live” attitudes have brought us to this point. Though I agree we need to confront Evil, we must first confess our iniquity and pray the help and protection of God and turn away from Evil. We must not be willing to compromise our principles to gain the platitudes of others. We must turn a deaf ear to Evil’s half truths and embrace the hard facts of Truth if we are to be restored. There are no grey areas with Truth. It simply is. And in Truth we will find freedom and peace. May God grant her eternal Peace.

    Maybe, just maybe, there was an intruder who killed the child and attempted to kill the mother. Or here’s another maybe, Maybe, just maybe, the mother found the little girl dead from complications of cerebral palsy, and was so upset she tried to kill herself. It sounds odd that the mother was found with a cord around her neck. Not a sure-fire way to kill yourself. Unless she was hanging from something.

      I was actually thinking the same thing as your 2nd scenario. No obvious sign of foul play with the girl, maybe she just died and her mom lost it. Although I agree not a typical way to commit suicide but who knows. I think they should at least wait to see how the girl died before charging the mother with anything.

      Thanks for the reply USAMAMA. No matter what transpired, it’s very sad this little girl died. Whether from her condition or if someone murdered her. We should not jump to conclusions until the investigation is complete. May God have mercy on the souls of all concerned.
