Disgraced Ex-Govenor Mark Sanford to Join Fox News

Former Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina will soon join Fox News as a paid contributor on the network, according to The New York Times.
Before his 2009 scandal, one that involved a tryst with an Argentinean lover, Sanford was widely considered to be a rising star in the Republican party.
Since the scandal (which offered much fodder and punch lines for late night hosts everywhere), Sanford said he spends much of his time working on the family farm and on a memoir, though he did not rule out some sort of future political run, according to the Times
Of Maria Belen Chapur, Sanford said: “I would say that I have more than well described all of my emotions and feelings toward Maria. And out of fairness to my boys and to folks that I’ve hurt, I’m not going to say more than this: any of those seemingly goofy feelings that I described a couple years back have intensified, not dissipated, with time.”
But why would Fox pick up Sanford as a commentator? Perhaps they saw an opportunity to compete in the disgraced-ex-politician-turned-news-commentators field after Eliot Spitzer’s show on CNN was cancelled.

Posted on October 22, 2011 at 5:56amJZS – Fox ratings are number one for a reason.
FACT: Obama’s ratings have dropped 30% since he was elected. What appears to be a defeatist attitude on your part tells me you strongly suspect O will be defeated in 2012.
~The primary reason Obama will likely lose in 2012 is: ObamaCare~

Posted on October 22, 2011 at 8:15amBill, the only reason Fox ratings are better then the others is because the others are at the bottom of the barrel. If you want real news, stay with the internet and select the sites you agree/disagree with. That puts you in control, not cable.

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 7:35pmGov. Sanford is a walking encyclopedia on politics. He speaks it clearly when asked and I assume that is why Fox hired him instead of a current Obama cabinet member of Pakistani descent who rages against Israel like CNN has. He who is without sin cast the first stone. Unlike Clinton , Sanford held a press conference and admitted his extra marital affair. ( And no, before you go post it, Sanford’s office told the press he was on Applachian trail , he never said that. They did have a cell phone number for him).

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 11:56pmWhat gives? I know that the International Left has been trying to destroy Murdoch over the NOTW phone hacking scandal for months. The NYT (their American Lefty rag ) carried daily articles trashing Murdoch and the investigation in July/August of this year. Beck is gone. The NYT carried articles trying to tie FOX into the phone hacking scandal. I know the Left is trying to shut down FOX and that concerns me greatly. Especially in light of the OWS mess which shows the power of these small but powerful Lefties. But why is FOX adding Sanford ?? Seems a very odd decision..Makes me wonder…

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 11:32pmMy gut says it is all about making ‘the right’ look cooky. They have done an about face on since 2010 election. Swear that they tried to harness the Tea party, giddy with the thought it was all about republicans and got b—- slapped to reality when we voted out RINOs in place of hopefully, Constitutional candidates. I feel their goal is to only make us feel there is left and right, but they’re all progressive. Why would Murdoch and Ailes (sp?), international and rich as all get out be true blue all conservative all American? Listen on the way they now reference Tea Party issues. example: Beckle “why didn’t we hear people at FOX condemn actions like that at TP events?“ Fox ”We did“ they never say anymore ”there was never any incidents like that”

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 11:48pmMurdoch’s son, James, & Murdoch got into a big row over his son switching report form Labor to the Tories. The sons switch the stance of the 4 newspapers the ran from Labor. The elder Murdoch disagreed with that. So Murdoch does not seem to be a movement conservative.
Just because the had Hannity & O’Reilly on as commentators they assume it is a Conservative network. It is not. Hannity use to have Alan Colmes as balance. Hannity still has many liberal guests. As does O’Reilly. So I don’t think anyone is getting brainwashed. There is balance & a lot more balance than on MSNBC.
I don’t plan on watching Mark Sanford.

Posted on October 22, 2011 at 1:27amWell put, Iwatched Fox News years ago but noticed how they more nad more quite reporting and gave more of their “progressive”, Rhino loving slants. Beck was the only one really doing some serious research and supply information for ME to make my decision on issue(Beck was also the only one that questioned the Bush administration)…O’Reilly and Hannity are phoney when they claim to be “conservative” and the rest of the characters are pretty goofy(except the Judge), I do enjoy viewing the hot bimbo news babes but have too mute the volume. And your point is head on when Fox saw Tea Party vote out Rhinos man did Fox dump all over the TP. Also look at the disrespect they give Ron Paul (except the Judge) that should say something, Dr Paul is probably the most Conservative(true conservative that is) of all Republicans. Media on TV sucks thats why I do my news via internet and look for factual information.

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 11:31pmThe Five gives me a headache at 3….can’t stand it. Shep…liberal leaning. O’Reilly…talks to us like we’re third graders and usually has terrible guests. ( only Dennis Miller shines) Sean is just ok himself, but his guests are often as irritating as Alan Colmes was. Whiny little Greta is a boring, liberal lawyer but, IMO, she often books excellent guests. Mark Sanford is smart but with all that heavy baggage he carries, it’ll be a miracle if he can overcome it. Seems to me that he‘ll fit right in with the rest of the crew though and that’s NOT a compliment. I cheered when Glenn went to Fox News and thought he would influence management to lean more towards conservative viewpoints once his show went on a terror. Unfortunately, just the opposite has happened. Sign of the times I guess????
