‘Disgusting’: Participants in ‘World Naked Bike Race’ Seemingly Bring Their Children

Editor’s Note: The following story includes a content warning for video that contain brief nudity.

The “World Naked Bike Ride in St. Louis” Facebook page encourages bikers to “protest oil dependency,“ ”raise awareness of cyclist rights,“ and advocate a ”positive body image” by taking to the streets of St. Louis on their bicycles.

An estimated 500 people turned up, according to KDSK, and the movement reportedly has fans in 70 cities and 20 different countries.

But even if riding a bicycle naked in the dark could actually accomplish any of those things, at what point does a sane person decide not to bring their children to the event?

Gateway Pundit reported on disturbing video from the race, where a woman seemingly stripped her young daughter’s shirt off and brought her along on the back of her own bike to attend the race.

Most would agree that such an environment is no place for a child to be period, let alone a place for them to be half-naked on the back of a bike.

Here is the video (again, content warning for nudity):

Gateway Pundit described the action as “disgusting,” while one commenter wrote that, if people like this were in control, Western civilization would be steered into an “abyss.”

The World Naked Bike website for the United States responds to the question: “What about children? Aren’t They Especially At Risk From Seeing Naked People?”

The response unabashedly indicates that children are allowed to participate in the “family-friendly” event, though there are not babysitting services.  There is also a little lecture on how children see nudity:

“The idea that somehow children are negatively affected by non-sexualized nudity is a myth. Children are more likely to be curious if nudity was discouraged in their family. The only thing prudish parents have to worry about is that their children might want to get naked themselves if it looks like people are having fun. As children grow older they are more likely to resent repressive parents if they think they lack common sensibilities.”

Much ado about nothing. I think that having your child out on a bike on the street at night is high risk. I’d be more concerned about that than what I saw.

There isn’t anything wrong with non-sexual nudity. Nudism is a wholesome family activity and it doesn’t bother kids in the least. In fact it typically results in better-adjusted kids/adults than burka-wear, or other ridiculous/uptite clothing standars.

Non-sexual nudity of children is not the issue. Nude children in PUBLIC is the issue. Once your take your nude child into the public sphere (outside of the home or naturist retreats), you subject them to the lurid glances and photography of the public, and even if there are no pedo-perv-pukes in their immediate audience, those photographs will have circled the globe three times before lunch. Once the images of your innocent little tykes hit the Internet, they will, let me say that once more for effect WILL, fall into the hands of pedophiles who will gleefully replicate and desemenate them to all of their ilk. It’s a fait accompli.

Children in public, fine. Naked people in public, fine. Naked children in public, you should be ashamed of yourselves for feeding the pervs.

It is morally wrong. IT is nudity in public. It is not something decent people would condone, but it’s more and more of the Devil, prowling around. It is evil. It is obnoxious of anyone to try to defend this RUDE, CLASSLESS act. If they want to ride around nude, go rent a speedway and make it for nudes only. I would not even want to KNOW anyone who thinks this is okay.

Crapping in the grass next to a sidewalk could also be viewed by some, a minority I would hope but I’m not sure at this point, as not an immoral act but natural. Is it not natural to crap outside?

Fortunately we have a thing called civilization, and it was common agreed upon rules that allowed civilization to flourish. Some of these rules were:

      1. People shouldn’t crap in public areas.
      2. People shouldn’t go naked in public areas.
      3. People shouldn’t stab each other.
      4. ETC…

Now if people want to start encouraging and not disparaging these actions of revolt against civilization; then we will all watch civilization plummet into something not civil because they are the very pillars that have allowed a civilized society to begin with.

There was nothing “seemingly” about it. Little kid in underwear on one parents bike…. couple bikes behind was a stark naked chic. How’s that “seemingly”. It’s like calling James Holmes or Jarred Loughner “alleged” murderers.

My MIL had that same opinion, that non-sexualized nudity was fine. She was seen naked by both her boys when they were young. As a matter of fact, when my oldest son was born 22 years ago, she came up (from the St. Louis area) to Rhode Island to be with us for a while and brought my BIL. He was taking a shower, and she got undressed in the bathroom and switched places with him so they didn’t have to turn the water off. Neither one of the boys respect her in the least. They scream and yell at her and their father, and call them stupid or idiots. I, who never saw my parents naked, won’t raise my voice to them to this day. That’s your fall out from seeing your parents naked. Some things need to be kept private.

I wouldn’t want to ride a bike naked. I don’t think that it would make it more enjoyable. But I’ve been naked at the beach plenty of times, especially in other countries where it is a more common practice. I saw lots of other naked people some good looking and others not so much as well as families and kids. I didn’t see any harm in it then, and I don’t now.

You can hear her saying ” Please be safe, please be safe I cant check.” when she approaches the intersection. Sounds like she was just hoping there was no cross traffic. Despite not being too bright dragging her daughter along on this nude ride, she doesn’t even try to ride safely…As far as ‘cyclist rights” are concerned, I will gladly share the road with them when they pay the amount of fuel and wheel taxes that I do.

It irritates me when people don’t follow the rules of biking. If you’re on the road, you are just like a car. You go the same direction, you stop at stop signs, you use signals, you follow the rules of traffic lights. If you want o ride in the cross walk and be a pedestrian, you WALK your bike through the intersection. You don‘t run stop signs because you’re on a hill and don’t want to have to “get started” again or break your stride. I wish cops would give out tickets for bad bike driving. Naked or not.

Many families attend nudist resorts and everyone is naked. This isn’t sexual. Too many confuse nudity with sexuality but then it might just be their upbringing instead of others. You notice in many African and Asian cultures very little or nothing is worn. This is a rule of society, not of nature.

Over 40 years we’ve been nudists and only stopped because of my health. Kids all over the diff. camps and no sexual issues like we see in the malls and at schools. I remember dropping pencils along with other guys sitting in the front rows in school and at the nudist camp the other pencil dropped just like everyone else. Only problem is playing tennis or basketball. Give an endowed woman a black eye. Like many of you say, “don‘t knock it unless you’ve tried it” and you can now go back to your Playboy or Hustler or t.v. or R rated movie rated for nudity.
