Group Proceeds With 2-Hour Islamic ‘Jumah’ Prayers ‘at the DNC’ (And You Won‘t Believe Who’s Invited)

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with featuring Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday before its convention, though Democrats earlier denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

The event is being promoted on the official Charlottein2012.com page*

Watch the promotional video via the Bureau of Muslim Affairs, which claims it is hosting the event “at the Democratic National Convention.”

The first two minutes are rather dry, but around 2:04 a muezzin sings the call to prayer with an American flag background, and the video “picks up” considerably:

Up to 20,000 people are expected to attend the Friday prayers and Jibril Hough, a spokesman for the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs (BIMA), said its purpose is to hold political parties accountable for the issues faced by Muslim-Americans.

In particular, the event will target the Patriot Act, the NYPD, the National Defense Authorization Act, and anti-Shariah sentiment.

And while Muslim-Americans undeniably face distinct challenges, those who are well-informed on the dangers of radical Islam are expressing their doubts.

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout Muslim and the Founder and President of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, wrote:

The leaders of this event – Jibril Hough and Imam Siraj Wahhaj [are not] moderates. They are radicals. These individuals embrace Islamist supremacy and have demonstrated support for radical ideologies.

A quick Google search by the DNC would have shown them that Hough and Wahhaj are leaders in the separatist American Islamist movement. While they may be able to get a few thousand Muslims to attend the event, they are NOT going to be mainstream Muslims.  Most will likely come from Hough and Wahhaj’s radical networks that have long been entrenched in the Charlotte area. Make no mistake they are part of the Islamist movement.

Their jummah (group) prayer is…about empowering their Islamist and MB sympathetic groups into the very fabric of the political system so that Americans become anesthetized. We need American Muslims to speak up and marginalize these radicals. The DNC needs to understand and reject them because of their radical history and ideas.

The mosque of Jibril Hough, mentioned by Dr. Jasser, is owned by the North American Islamic Trust, which was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial as one of the entities “who are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.”

Siraj Wahhaj, the “Grand Imam” for Jumah at the DNC, is often considered a “moderate” because he was the first Muslim to give an invocation in the U.S. Congress, but as Robert Spencer notes, he has a number of troubling ties to dangerous radicals.  In the early 1990′s the man reportedly sponsored talks by “the Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel-Rahman in New York and New Jersey mosques, and told his followers that the United States will fall unless it “accepts the Islamic agenda.”

Wahhaj elaborated, according to bestselling author Brigitte Gabriel, to say: “If only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate.”

He continued: “Take my word.  If 6-8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us.”

When an imam like Siraj Wahhaj says “it his duty and our duty as Muslims to replace the US Constitution with the Quran…we need to speak up!” Dr. Jasser reiterated in response, adding that Americans “should be concerned” if this is who the DNC is “consorting with.”

Robert Spencer speculates that the Democrat National Committee is simply so “in thrall to multiculturalism” that “few, if any” are even aware of the radical connections.

“To raise any concerns about such a speaker would be ‘Islamophobic,’ violating every rule of the anti-American, anti-Western ethos that prevails among so many Democrats today,” Spencer concluded.

*The “Charlotte in 2012” page was established by the city of Charlotte to help coordinate the DNC. It advertises itself as “the official location for all the latest news, information and ways to get involved.” It is also the official website for the host committee. Additionally, all events listed on the site have to go through an approval process.

UPDATE:

Though Cardinal Dolan was originally not going to speak at the DNC, on Monday it was announced that he will now be giving the closing prayer.

      The first amendment protects everyone – including Muslims – to practice their religion. But Islam is not like other religions – enemies of Islam will submit or be killed. They don’t share American values and their religion conflicts with the Constitution, especially Sharia Law.

      It’d be better if a true conservative won. If those, whom you name, were prosecuted as they should be for their illegal activities, their fashions would be courtesy some prison – striped jump suits, accessorized with ‘EAT AT JOES’ flashing neon signs attached to their back sides, with tradional ball and chain anklets. Each gal should have a ‘johnboy’ (huge mole) surgically applied to their chin to enhance their hardened look. Hillary could practice her ebonics with the black inmates. This could qualify them for their own reality show which could be called the ‘? Stoogets.’

      All of this would be more becoming than a burka and the hell that everyone else would have to tollerate. I agree though, a burka would be sutiable attire if they were the only ones having to wear them, as they sould as part of their strange appeasements.

      The media will fail to report anything that might reflect badly on the speakers or their motivations. The tame talking heads will preemptively attack Republicans for intolerance and bigotry assuming the logical push-back that will come from the radical declarations of the speakers.

      Meanwhile, the talking heads will carefully fail to quote said speakers most inflammatory statements… And, they will selectively find quotes which could have come from the Bible or Talmud claiming these are the sentiments being objected to. Business as usual in the modern Democrat Party Press Offices: ABC, NBC, CBS and NPR.

      We must capture video and audio and spread it on the net for all to see, and hear. The majority of Muslims in this country, and in the world, simply want to be left alone to prosper. They must see us as their allies in this, not their enemies or as a threat to their existence. This begins by heralding the truth that politicians are setting them up, yet again, to be the villains in a very bad B-Movie plot.

      Muslim countries tend to be poor, tribal and easily manipulated by power-hungry despots. The glory of Islam has faded and fallen into despair. Our respect for their faith and dignity as human beings is the key to co-existence. I just think that most Americans can‘t believe that someone we’d elect to our highest office would load up our top security agencies with Muslims; would purposely try to destroy American in every way from financial to military to breaking our spirit.       Good grief is right….as an American I will never accept the Muslim Faith. You never….ever here of an Imam denounce the killings of American Service Men fighting the Taliban. If a Muslim moved next door to me I would politely tell him/her that they shall never be welcome in my home and I will never accept them as an American or a neighbor as far as that goes.       Angry PATTY – Good grief woman! First of all, our President did not organize this event nor is he speaking at it or taking part in it. He is NOT a Muslim any more than you are. You have stated on this site that you are a Christian. Why should we believe you? Because you say so? Your comments on here are by far the nastiest I’ve ever seen, and which is my eyes would doesn’t show a Christian spirit. But who am I to judge and say say otherwise. Well, Pres. Obama has many time said that he is a Christian. Who are you to say otherwise?

      Also, Islam is a religion and it is protected by the US Constitution, just like every other religion. A group wanting to express their religious views in a peaceful and political way is hardly unheard of at conventions. In fact, it won’t be the only religious political event taking place. I personally don’t like all of the conservative Christian events taking place at or around the RNC. I think that conservative Christians have taken this Country to a very dark place with their intolerance, closemindedness, and horribly violent words against our American President and other Americans that I read here on the Blaze every single day. But, I would absolutely say that they have every right to peacefully assemble at the convention because their doing so is protected by the Constitution.

      Get over your hatred, PATTY. Choosing hate instead of love is a lonely place to be.

      I think it’s about time America got back to the foundation of why and how this country was founded and stop trying to kneel to certain religions just because we think it is politically correct. All religions are welcome in this country, but none will bring their way of law here and change this country without a fight. I firmly believe the radical muslims want this fight and they think they will eventually conquer the world with their religious beliefs and laws. Just look at the middle east, real organized, real state of the art.

      No thanks. When duty calls, I will again be ready to defend the country against all enemies, foreign or domestic. If you want shria law, then take it back to your homeland and make it work for your people, don’t bring your misguided radical beliefs here and expect normal people to put up with it.

      The story is a lie. The Democratic National Convention begins on Sept 4th. This event is scheduled for August 31st. Furthermore, “Charlottein2012” is not part of the DNC. It’s in essence a PR campaign for the city of Charlotte. “The Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee is a non-profit, non-partisan organization ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE to fulfill obligations of the master contract with the Democratic National Convention Committee.       What’s I find ironic is that so many minorities (blacks and hispanics) claim to be Democrats. Well blacks and hispanics are very religious and are majoritiy Christians in America. Now I know Christianity and Islam are on the same branch when it comes to Religion, however, when you break it down you will see that Islam is quite different then Christianity.

      That being said, I question how this is going to work out because Islam’s goal is to take over and if you do not convert you are killed. So when the Democratic party is taken over by Islam what will the minorities do that are Christian?

      Apparently, the Muslim prayer gathering is days before the DNC and it is not happening during the DNC in Charlotte. It will be in a city park. If it was going to be in, and an official part of the DNC, I would be upset too. Therefore, before we all become too worked up over this; please be sure you understand that before you go telling everyone you know that Muslims will kick off the DNC. It is just not true from what I’ve read. That is not to say that the DNC would not be in favor of their park prayer gathering before the DNC. I suspect they do condone it. Also, if you go back to the end of the story there is an update ” UPDATE: Though Cardinal Dolan was originally not going to speak at the DNC, on Monday it was announced that he will now be giving the closing prayer.”

      I am a conservative Tea Party member so don‘t think I’m trying to defend any of this. I just want to make sure everyone understands the truth. I was getting all worked up myself until went back and read the story and realized it is happening August 31st, days before the DNC kickoff.

      I have never been in fear because Mormons existed in the world unlike Muslims.

      Except for one incident 150 years ago the Mormons have harmed no one. In the preceding generations Mormons were persecuted & driven from Ohio, Illinois & Missouri.

      There is a reason why Mormons left good corn ground in Illinois for a harsh desert & it wasn’t because the people in Illinois were friendly at that time.

      I do not believe in the Mormons faith at all. But I would trust a Mormon picked randomly from on of their church congregations than you Individualism. This says much about your low character.
