Doctor: Giffords Is Able to Communicate

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A surgeon at the University Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz., says Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is able to communicate.
Dr. Michael Lemole said at a news conference on Sunday that Giffords responded to doctors’ commands.
Lemole says the gunshot went through the left side of her head and that surgeons worked to reduce pressure from swelling in the brain by removing bone fragments.
Giffords was shot by a gunman on Saturday as she met with constituents at a supermarket. Six others were killed, and 14 wounded, including the congresswoman.

People are dead, including a little girl, and the Congresswoman had a bullet go through her head causing who knows what kind of damage and people are calling this a miracle? A real miracle would have been for the gun to jam or for the bullets to mysteriously miss all of their targets. Clearly what we‘ve seen here is imperfect man’s imperfect ability to fix a disaster the best it can.
I can certainly understand the godly wisdom in allowing a lunatic like Jared to misuse their free will in a situation like this because a world where everything’s protected with divine bubble wrap would certainly be weird, but to call this a miracle is severely offensive to anyone involved with those who lost their lives or healthy bodies.

The people who took charge of the victims, who helped the victims, the people who tackled him, the woman who grabbed the next clip, the lives saved by love at sacrificing their own lives… these are some of the miracles. There are so many more which will come into the light in the future. Have faith. Do not despair. I believe that God puts the appropriate people where & when He needs them. Good will come of this somehow, because no one can defeat God. God bless you. Hang in there & do not despair. God loves you.

That is what conservatives do. While we get upset and angry we still have compassion. None of us wish this woman any harm and pray for a complete recovery. As well as the others who were injured. It is upsetting to see how the media and the dem’s are using this to their own advantage knowing their accusations are not valid. My son was in the Marines, and I used to write to him and sign my letters Mama devil dog. Oorah, and God Bless!

Although I disagree with the Obama administration as fervently as any other clear-thinking conservative, and will certainly be happy if Barack Obama is a one-term president, I believe that it is just as illogical to blame him as it is to blame the conservative movement or talk radio for this tragedy. The blame rests solely on the shoulders of the lunatic who pulled the trigger. Neither side of the ideological spectrum needs to be rushing to assign blame to the other. The only investigation that is needed is the criminal investigation into the incident itself.

Some of the things being said about both the criminal(s) and the victims here and elsewhere have been disappointing to say the least. Why use these forums to speculate in ways that don’t contribute or to attack one another? I’m not contradicting myself here by making an adroit comment about you, so please don’t take it that way. I’m just saying that most of us want the same results- peace, prosperity and freedom. We just have different notions of how to get there. I think we would all profit if the comments here reflected that.
