A new report details the exploits of Norwegian journalist Paul Refsdal, who while embedded with the Taliban in Afghanistan, captures dramatic footage of Taliban fighters “attacking U.S. convoys on a road below their mountainous hide-out and celebrating hits with a high-five.”
The footage, which had been posted to YouTube but has since been removed due to a copyright claim by Journeyman Pictures, is detailed in the report:
The attack itself involves a radio discussion with another unit closer to the Tarmac road which American army men are forced to use everyday.
Over the radio, a commander says: ‘Allah make our enemies perish. I seek refuge in you. Alllah make the mujahaideen victorious.’
Then the man’s voice can be heard saying: ‘Use the rocket launcher Rafiq, fire the launcher.’
Meanwhile, Dawran’s men are using a heavy-calibre machine gun to fire on the Humvee armoured vehicles, apparently destroying one.
They celebrate with a high-five and moments later singing can be heard over the radio.

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 1:35pmThere is a positive angle to this: just as the enemy scours our news reels from our embedded reporters for even small tidbits of intel, so too can our intel guys glean a lot from these.
I think those vids from their side aren’t vetted very well to redact sensitive info. I just don’t think they are that smart.
Even though these things are hard to watch, you better believe we have some really smart people doing a frame-by-frame rectal exam on this and other vids and hopefully are able to identify useful stuff and lots of bad guys.

Posted on September 6, 2010 at 9:35pmYeah, I guess they have a right to have what is called a ‘jur-no-list’ on their side. And because I have a son in AF right now with the Marine Corps, well, that gives me the right to give this piece of S**T permanent brain damage when I find IT, if my son doesn’t find IT first! I can only pray that this turd falls into the sights of my son’s sniper rifle! It’s his second tour in that God forsaken place, and it’s made him a very good shot! Yer fair game REFSDAL! Yer right up there with HANOI JANE!!!

Posted on September 6, 2010 at 11:34amEmbed my a**. There should be a bounty placed on this “journalist’s” head. I mean his head. Delivered on a stake. Anybody who supposes Taliban monsters are entitled to having “reporters” on “their side too” is a moronic facilitator of the West’s inexplicable determination to commit cultural and civilizational suicide. I suppose the smallpox virus has a right to reporters on its side too. Idiots.

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 8:30amPlease take note that on some of the videos Mr. Refsdal posted, this so-called journ-O-list actually takes part in planning the attacks against American soldiers by the Taliban. In my opinion he is not an embed but an enemy combattant. I predict that further inquiry into this story will reveal that he is claiming this documentary “embed” status now that he has supposedly been kidnapped and may need help from the same soldiers that he actively helped to have killed.

What was learned from this stunt that wasn’t already known? Sadly nothing with the exception that this reporter is some kind of adrenaline junkie.
