Does Chris Matthews Hate ‘Fork-Tongued’ Newt Gingrich?

On Wednesday’s Hardball, Chris Matthews blasted “demonic” GOP presidential contender Newt Gingrich for speaking with a “forked tongue” when answering a question about health care during Tuesday night’s Republican presidential debate.
“You know, the demonic aspect of the person of Newt Gingrich – and I do mean that – he speaks with a forked tongue where you see both forks at the same time.”
The MSNBC host’s reaction was prompted by an exchange between the former House Speaker and Mitt Romney over whether Romney got the idea for his Massachusetts health care mandate from Gingrich.
“Demonic” seems a bit strong, however. So does the animus go deeper for Matthews?
According to Newsbusters, the Hardball host has a long history of particularly vitriolic attacks on Gingrich, at one point comparing the former House Speaker to “Freddy Krueger.”
On May 12, 2011, Matthews shrieked that the “shameless” and “nasty” Gingrich robs “joy and humanity” from people.
He frothed, “I cannot believe there are young Republicans idealists out there, young people with hope who want our country to be good and have good politics to want to resurrect this element of Freddy Krueger, Nightmare on Elm Street politics.”
On March 2, 2011, he raged that the Republican looks like a “car bomber” who “loves torturing.”
On June 10, 2011, Matthews excoriated Gingrich as “evil” and looking like “the Devil.”
During Matthews’ latest Gingrich-inspired outburst on Wednesday, he stated:
“You know, the demonic aspect of the person of Newt Gingrich, and I do mean that. He speaks with a forked tongue where you see both forks at the same time. He said two opposite things. I agree with Heritage, I did not agree with Heritage. I forget the other. That was the wrong order. First he said he was not part of it and then he said he agreed with Heritage, having just denied it.”
It goes without saying Chris Matthews holds little affection for conservatives, but do you find his demeanor, with regard to Newt Gingrich, particularly hostile? Does Matthews perhaps view Gingrich as the greater threat among Republican contenders? Weigh in with your thoughts below.

I‘m just wondering why it matters who Matthews likes or doesn’t like. I mean, his show is so insignificant he has only 400,000 viewers last time I looked.

As far as Mathews goes, let him get an ulcer from his mental problems.

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 12:47amThere’s something seriously wrong with Matthews. He absolutely hates capitalism, and conservative ideas. He’d rather see individual liberty flushed down the drain, along with the profit-motivation that brought us things like color television, Facebook, and the iPod. It’s completely lost on him that, in his idealistic socialized-nanny-state, he could be jailed or executed for speaking his mind so freely as he does. Total corruption ensues following total authoritarian control – which is where all his ideology leads. Leftists are all truly idiots. Leftist and idiot – practically synonymous. How does this happen – how does such an imbecile rise to a position with such publicity? (ok, it’s MSNBC – the Misinformation, Subterfuge, Nonsense and Baloney Channel – but it’s still nationally aired.)

They have the monopoly this is amazing to me; I think monopolies should be finished or at least study in America. As immigrant I find it so anti American, anti capitalist, totally anti free market!!! I would like Glenn talking about this issue, would The Blaze or GBTV help to learn when monopolies begun ( maybe was also Woodrow Wilson????) I believe this is a big problem in this country. Would the people like to know about that also?

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 12:32amOver all I like Gingrich but I was irritated when Gingrich through Paul Ryan under the bus when Paul was the only person who created a proposal to address budget deficits and entitlement programs. Regarding the debate yesterday, Gingrich did support mandates and Gingrich along with Heritage did support Romney care in 2007. So I was glad when Mitt cornered Gingrich on the mandate issue.
Romneycare is out of control due to all of the amendments the liberals added that Romney vetoed which were over ridden by the legislative vetoes. More amendments were added after Romney left office in Jan 2007. Newt also knew this and alluded to this fact in an interview in 2010. Newt lost a few points in my book after this exchange.

Why doesn’t The Blaze post the actual video of Gingrich making a fool of himself speaking out of both sides of his mouth? Gingrich is a creepy liar…and how many times has he been divorced and remarried? Three? Four? Didn’t he marry his high school teacher (wife number one) and then divorce her as she was coming out of cancer surgery? And wasn’t he fooling around on his second wife while he was criticizing Bill Clinton for his affair? The guy is a slug.

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 9:37pmI agree with you. I think any combination of Cain/Gingrich or Gingrich/Cain would be excellent. Cain needs a congressional point man. Leading people you can fire and leading people who feel it is there job to oppose you at everyturn are two very different things. Gingrich needs someone with good business background who understands first hand the business community. Those two were made for each other.
