Energy Secretary Give Himself an ‘A’ for Effort in Controlling Gas Prices

Energy Secretary Steven Chu appeared in front of the House Oversight Committee today, and made a surprising admission while there. When asked, skeptically, by Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, whether Chu should get an “A-” on helping to control gas prices, Chu said, “I think I’d give myself a little higher than an A- in that I’ve been doing everything I can.” Watch Chu’s “A for Effort” remarks below:

Issa responded to the remarks with a Socratic interrogation of Chu about President Obama‘s remarks taking credit for America’s energy production.

“If you had to do it all again, would you have made the large scale investments that you made in Solyndra and all these others?” Issa asked.

“That’s an excellent question,” Chu responded, and then didn’t answer it directly, instead describing the administration’s investment portfolio.

    The price of gas is driven by the value of the dollar! It has decoupled from supply and demand, because the value of the dollar has gone from Sterling-a much sought after World Standard to a worthless portrait in your wallet! When price goes up as consumption goes down, look under a different tree! It’s the dollar, dummy!

      The FIRST time I got wind of the following was a little blurb on talk radio. I just looked it up on Busiess News Daily. Seems that we could very well pump oil ’til the cows come home and it wouldn:t affect the price of gas. BUT, how about if youwere ablke to increase refining at say 20% east of the Mississippi. Google Sunoco- Conoco Phillips. HMMMMMMM!

When he destroys, he builds, when he steals our money and gives it to Wall Street junkies, he saves it, when he drives up the national debt by $5 trillion, that’s a good thing. WTF?       Just listened to his testimony again.
      He adds an unnecessary qualifier to his defense.
      He says, “SINCE I BECAME ENERGY SECRETARY…”
      He also adds, “doing everything I can FOR A LONG TERM SOLUTION.”

      In his mind, the “long term solution” is solar-unicorn-droppings, or algae.
      So he is being honest when he says he is doing everything he can.
      He and obama believe high gas prices are essential to force people to adopt solar rainbow power.

      It depends on what the meaning of the word “is” is.

      Sadly, his inquisitors don’t probe deeper when he uses qualifiers like these.

      If Chu gives himself an A- the question everyone should be asking is what was his objective.
      If it was to drive gas prices through the roof,waste billions and billions of tax dollars by dumping them into his liberals freinds pipe dreams,and create a new entitlement venue of totally subsidized energy …Then his grade was correct.
      If his objective was to losing America’s dependence on foriegn oil,find viable aternative energy plans,and save American money on energy both at the pump and at home…..he gets an F–.

      Don’t forget, Obama is scheduled to be in Cushing, Oklahoma to endorse the part of the pipeline that the industry is still building because they don‘t need gov’t approval. The event will be private. BTW, the only part that needed gov’t approval was the piece of pipe crossing the US – Canada border and he vetoed it. I seriously hope that his plane takes a nose dive on the way.

    For the amount of money that was thrown away with Solyndra and First Solar and Evergreen, we could have gotten Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors up and running — clean, safe and cheap.       At the time of his appointment as Energy Secretary, he was a professor of physics and molecular and cellular biology at the University of California, Berkeley.
      There it goes again another radical from University of California, Berkeley it seems this institutions teachers are high on unproven theories.

    If you mean, an A for:

    Refusing to open offshore drilling
    Refusing to drill in Anwar
    Making permitting process so long and extended, that companies are actually fined for not producing, but can‘t produce because they don’t have Permits
    For fining companies who don‘t have cellulose ethanol in their mix because IT DOESN’T EXIST YET
    For killing the Keystone Pipeline
    For encouraging and fostering unrest in the Middle East, causing tensions and chaos to flourish and grow
    For giving Brazil $3 billion so they can build refineries, but we haven’t had a new refinery in decades

    For spending billions on green energy that have ALL failed while not investing to existing, proven energies that can produce here and now cheaply….

    Yeah, for destroying the economy, raising the cost to ship food and in turn the cost of the food and monetizing the debt to make our money 1/3 less then what it used to be worth, sure I’d give him AAA+ for his destruction of our energy and economy sectors…. You go Barry !!! Good job!

      Indeed, the only “A’s” Obama follows are in the biblical spirit of Abaddon and Apolyon the destroyers, otherwise known as the spirit of the devil.

      We are in the end game now with the battle against Obama and the progressives; from here on out the matter is simple – win or the nation goes into eternal night never to emerge.

      All I can ask for people is those of any faith, join in prayer for the sake of our nation with friends, family and all who will join you. Pass on the message and the request, for if we call upon God in the firm reliance upon Him by faith for his guidance and grace, we can make it through the storm.

      The task will not be easy, yet as with the pilgrims who headed for an unknown country in faith; so are we entering such a journey, not knowing what will be encountered, yet seeking the saving and the restoration of the Republic.

    I love the libs that can spend our money on solar and wind, if Solendra hadn’t filed for bankruptcy they would have given them more of our money to waist…. I have a solar system at our cabin and it works great when the sun is out in the summer but in the winter the sun is lower in the south and it doesn’t get enought sun to keep it charged up, so we have to have a backup generator and guess what it runs on that evil black gold out of the ground….

    Oh Stevie…Barry is a away and he left you in charge of the Whitehouse crack pipe! You are doing a wonderful job Stevie with the crack pipe…well energy…NOT!!

    First, try putting an huge export tax on any oil products leaving the states…that would help. Then start collectng the dollars that Barry printed..cause last time gas was $4.00 a gallon a barrel of oil was $150.00..but with you two screwballs running the energy program at barrel of oil is $106.00 and we are now paying amout $4.00 a gallon at the pump.

    Gee..do you think the value of the dollars has dropped on the world market…YES!!

      If obama is doing things to drive up prices… If the EPA is doing things to escalate prices… then, technically, it is not anything HE is doing. Except slow walking permits, etc.

      Let’s never forget, he said he WANTS the U.S. to have European-ly expensive gasoline.
      This from the man in charge of an agency, CREATED, for the sole purpose of assuring a steady, cheap supply of energy. Man! The liberal mind is a terrible thing…
