Does Obama Dream Of Being A Dictator?

Wow.
That was my reaction to the penultimate sentence of a New York Times story titled:
Obama Seeks A Course of Pragmatism In The Middle East
Two years into what some people have called the best job in the world, yet facing a lingering recession, massive unemployment, a threatening debt crisis, and diminishing approval ratings, President Obama may have let his ‘inner voice’ be heard when he allegedly revealed his dictatorial fantasy, as reported by the Times:
‘Mr. Obama has told people that it would be so much easier to be the president of China.’
I wonder who are the ‘people’ he said this to?
You have to speculate if the President might feel the same if he still had a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate as he did when he was sworn in back in 2009.
It would be so much easier to just have to deal with the rest of the world and let your party do what it wishes in the Legislative Branch.

So if they can accomplish what they want through effective dictatorship (though they will argue that they represent the suppressed “People”), they will use the route. I have little doubt that Obama would fall into that thinking, and IMO showed us by the way he has governed with little respect to legislative process – passing the Health Care bill using procedural process before the bill was ever approved by both houses – and ironically allowed the bill to be passed with 51 vote,s even though they were only allowed to do this by effectively annulling requirements that we added in order to get the necessary 60 votes.
Think about it, get 60 votes by allowing all kinds of slimy deals, and then legislate the bill by modifying it to remove those provisions using less than those original votes (even though it would never have gotten to that point without the 60 original votes).
This is pure procedural corruption (and the Dems cry foul in WI, when the senate passes a bill which follows the rules as expected – when the Dems used obviously corrupted tactics such as fleeing the state to avoid a quorum).

Appoint czars and giving them authority beyond anything they could get from Congress, bastardizing the legislative process every time it looks like the Congress might oppose him and totally ignoring what the people of his country think or want to satisfy his idea of what the country should be! I remember a speech he gave late in his campaign where he used the phrase, “Under my rule,” and no one called him on it. The press ignored it. So, the answer is YES! Obama wants to be a dictator. Then he can transform the country into the socialist paradise he envisions without being bothered by such trivial things as the Constitution, the will of the citizenry or the legality of his actions!

Yes it would be easier to be President of China. No one is criticizing his response to the crisis in the Middle East. I echo a fellow poster, this type of article is why people laugh at you.

Blacks couldn’t even get into those unions until the 1980s. The rest of the unions, like SEIU, hotel workers and retail store workers are pretty well integrated and have minorities in the upper ranks, though not proportionally. Do not forget that the “Look For The Union Label” campaign of the 1900s was primarily a way of letting people know that the goods sporting the label were made by white workers. If you wanted to sell clothing in southern stores to southern democrats, it had to have the label. During those years the unions actively barred blacks and other minorities from membership with the blessings of the democratic party. If this country ever goes socialist, I am afraid those days will come back. I am an older white man. I grew up in a segregated soceity, hated it and would hate to see it come back.

You know we’re not a Democracy, right? Democracies do not grant freedom, but majority rule. There are no unalienable rights in a Democracy.
We elect people to do the work of government – WE don’t get a direct say. THEY must adhere to the Constitution.
Only if they refuse to adhere to the Constitution do the number of protesters matter.

What he’s doing in the Middle East is not promoting freedom, but rather promoting a “dictatorship of the proletariat” (look it up). It‘s a Marxist strategy which is completely consistent with Dinesh D’Souza’s ariticle which strongly supports the position that Obama is an anti-colonialist.
Why do you think the Unions and the far Left are supportive of those who wish to remove their dictators but don’t want Capitalism, either; and yet do not speak up when the youth of Iran seek freedom and Capitalism?
I’m serious, look up “dictatorship of the proletariat”, because that’s the role the Unions are pushing on their members, and also pushing in the classroom.

Those people have been subjugated and shackled in symbolic chains ever since one of his heroes (Mao) brought communism to China. No pesky conservatives there to thwart his socialist plans for the country. No well-meaning citizens like Joe the Plumber who had to be told to shut up and share his wealth with everyone else. No opponents in Congress to delegate to the back seat of the car while HE’s doing the driving. China must seem like Utopia to him.

I think Woody Allen was one, and that idiot economist from the NYT may have also said it. Also, liberals actually want to make our constitution irrelevant. They admit it.
I hope we make it through until 2012. Volunteer to work at the polls. Make sure there is no cheating an intimidation. Communists will stoop at nothing to take over forever.
I’m actually beginning to wonder if they were so upset back in 2000 in Florida, because they expected that they had totally ‘fixed’ that election and were stunned when it didn’t work.
