Does Ron Paul See Himself in the Oval Office? ‘Not Really’

During an interview with ABC’s Terry Moran on Monday, GOP presidential contender Ron Paul made an astounding admission. When asked by Moran if, “When you lay your head on your pillow at night, do you see yourself in the Oval Office?” Paul responded simply: “Not really.”
The Texas congressman went on to say that while he’s aware of his odds, they are “not as slim as they were 25 years ago.”
Moran, who finds it “hard to imagine any other candidate saying that,” adds:
I also asked if he though he was too old to be president. He’d be 81 at the end of his first term.
He said, “Freedom is a youthful idea,” his health is good, and he challenges any of his rivals to a physical fitness test.
He also jokingly accused me of ageism.
“Be careful,” he said. “There are laws against that.”

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 11:35pmI thought it was a humble answer. I liked that.
The other thing I like is his message. Whether he wins or not, it is his message, his ideals that are gaining massive strength… It is a voice of its own now… and the establishment knows it.
You know another thing that gets me about the Blaze… Not one word about Obama signing away the Bill of Rights… That worries me.
Ron Paul 2012!

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 11:41pmThere’s a reason for that. See, a while ago, America (a wife and children) was put on a donkey. Then it was put on a horse. Well, now since no one wants to listen, it is getting put on a Dragon.
Report Post »Eliasim
Posted on January 2, 2012 at 11:54pmActually I should clarify that about the Dragon in that now people are actually beginning to see the dragon, but America was put on a dragon oh about 100 years ago, and it reared it’s ugly head to be seen by many about 40 years ago.

Posted on January 3, 2012 at 12:21amIt was never about the man, as some guys have so falsely presumed. It’s about the message. Limited Government, the Constitution, personal Liberties, private property, unalienable Rights, equal Justice, free markets, sound money, sane foreign policy, secure borders, less spending, the Rule of Law, and following the intent of our Founding Fathers.
Within the GOP there is a battle between Loyalists and Patriots, Progressives and Constitutionalists, Nationalists and Federalists. The MSM, Establishment, globalists and radio talking heads are scared shiitless that they’re loosing. They are having an absolute tantrum. It’s all part of the battle. And we’re winning. Long live Liberty. The survival of our Constitutional Republic is at stake here, and we will not be blamed for doing nothing or not wanting to rescue it. We will be those who fought to save it. Posted on January 3, 2012 at 7:46amBeck actually said that the US military may have to be used against the growing threat of domestic terrorism: Ron Paul donors. Why? Because there is a “rising tide of disenfranchisement” (sic) and Ron’s volunteers raised $4.3 million in one day “to commemorate Guy Fawkes” in a “money bomb.” Of course, no American knows anything about the English Catholic rebel of four centuries ago. The donors were referencing the movie and graphic novel, V for Vendetta.
Then Beck says he [is] a libertarian in his heart and it’s OK to raise money anyway you want, so long as you are not “blowing people up.” This from a guy who advocates blowing people up every day, so long as they’re Arabs.
Then comes a plummy Brit who I think is one of Bertie Wooster’s friends from the Drones Club. Then Beck gets to the real point: we are a right-wing peace movement. And being for peace means you want to kill people, whereas being for war means you want peace.

Spreading our military thin throughout the world will make us more vulnerable and more broke. Trade, commerce, friendship and diplomacy is not isolationism. Drugs are already on the street and in our schools! These Progressive prohibitionist laws have been a massive failure. They have not improved morality or our corrected our society’s problems. Do you want a president who went to sleep at night inflating his ego with dreams of being the most powerful man in the world? It blows my mind how some of you people think. How can you compare a humble response to lack of confidence to win?
They asked him if he went to sleep at night dreaming about being president. He said no. Yet you act as if they asked him “do you have a chance of being president?” There is a HUGE difference between those two questions and answers. Yet most of you are so thick headed that you can’t think it through. America is doomed. Maybe it should be. If those of you on here that ridicule Dr Paul actually believe you stand for the Constitution and saving America, we are all doomed. What the hell are we fighting for anymore? I respect Ron Paul for his service to our country. He is intelligent and insightful. As a consistant defender of our constitutional republic he would not sell us out but rather would do all that he could to protect and restore our liberty as free men.
I believe that he is sincere, committed and humble. He is also decisive on the side of the Constitution.
With so many people piling on including Fox, and the entire talk radio line-up – he must be striking close to home, And is most adamantly anti fed and anti globalism.
Ron Paul supports a small limited government and supports ending the Department of Education and several other government agencies. Imagine the effect of that alone.
He supports individual freedom, the sanctity of life, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution of the United States.
The best contrast to Obama is not a capitalist vs. a socialist but rather
a Constitutional small government of We the people
vs
a bloated, progressive, central government control, ultra spending, communistic machine of the elites.
Other than unnecessary and disrespecting insults to his age, or appearance……what is it that is not enough.

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 11:01pmThings are clearly on track for a Paul victory in Iowa, perhaps beyond, but instead of rallying around Paul, the rising champion – an authentic symbol of “hope and change” – the War Partyreacts as if cornered. We’re indeed witnessing an existential identity crisis within the GOP: the limited government conservatives versus the global empire-promoting, entrenched establishment.By mid-December, the GOP establishment recognized that their initial strategy of ignoring Ron Paul hadn’t succeeded in discrediting him, so they attacked him directly instead. Some establishment pundits even ventured so far as to preemptively dismiss the credibility of the caucuses in the event of a Paul victory. The event itself, they say, let alone Iowa’s envied “first in the nation” status, obviously would not survive the indignity of a Paul victory.

It means, most obviously, that he is trying to convince them to support HIS view, and isn‘t going to ignore groups of people because they don’t share his view, in the hopes of putting together a coalition on the issues HE argues about – that he might share with individuals that happen to also be wrong on other things. It’s the same reason he meets with both Tea Party representatives and members of OWS in an effort to convince them that he is right about these things, despite them being near opposites with only a couple points of agreement – like ending bailouts. If you actually listen to what he says to them, he doesn‘t pander and doesn’t talk about “their issue”, but gives the same speeches he gives to everyone on ending the Fed, cutting back government, and non-interventionist foreign policy.

They say Paul wants to pull our troops out everywhere and Russia and China will fill the power vacuum. Really? China will put their troops in Germany, Japan, Korea, Afghanistan? What you people really need to worry about is the real possibility of a total economic collapse that will leave you in the dark and starving. What you need to worry about is this country starting another long drawn out war we can’t afford and paying $8.00 a gallon of gas because of it, should I fill my tank or feed my face?
