Does the iPhone 5 Appear in This Leaked Video?

With Tim Cook speaking of “incredible things coming” at the All Things Digital D10 tech conference and Apple‘s anticipated World Wide Developer’s conference slated for June 11, it is expected that rumors of the iPhone 5 would continue to spread.

Given that Apple usually announces product launches at its own events, it wasn’t truly expected that Cook would unveil a new item at D10 in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., earlier this week, but some were still hoping. With its own conference coming up, fans of Apple products are at least pining for a hint of when an iPhone 5 will become available.

For now, a few new leaks have begun circulating, including one reportedly of the front panel of the smartphone. Macotakara recently posted a video on YouTube that shows what is allegedly the iPhone 5 screen boasting a longer design than its predecessors. Check it out:

9to5Mac notes that it is not exactly sure what the phone in Macotakara’s video measures, but states it appears to match up with previously reported measurements.

Earlier in the week, 9to5Mac also posted about what it calls the first photo of the back plate for the iPhone 5:

These photos also clearly show some of the features of the next-generation iPhone. The long rumored smaller dock connector is present, the earphone jack has been moved to the bottom corner of the device (the first time Apple has done this on one of their smartphones), the speaker grills have been redesigned, and there is a new opening between the camera lens and the LED flash. We’re not sure what this opening is, but it is possible that Apple is moving the second microphone (Apple started shipping two microphones with the iPhone 4) to the back for improved audio capture during video recording.

For now Apple rumor experts are still hypothesizing the phone — which is expected to have a 11360×640 resolution and a 3.999 inch (diagonally measured) screen — will be announced in October. 9to5Mac states that with Apple’s iOS 6 well into development, this potential deadline seems to be on target to meet.

I am pretty sure that is not an iphone five. The iphone five will probably have a rotary dial.

  I’ve had my 3GS since late June, 2008. Will I be lining up? Being that mine is practically a dinosaur for cell phones, I think an upgrade wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. You’re damn right I will.

most people buy a case for these phones too to protect them, so that will increase the size even more. eventually, you have to stop with the screen size increase. it just becomes too big to be a phone. i guess it depends on what you like.

I think you mean 1136×640 for the dimensions. That would give the iPhone a full 16:9 display with 1 row of pixels to spare. Think of everything you could do with those 1136×1 pixels!

  Fairly soon it will be so dam big, it won’t fit in any pocket without falling out on the cement. You won‘t be able to tell it’s differences form your [average] tablet….which also will not fit your podket. For it’s size, there are more pixals-per sq-inch than the human eye, so any more is useless-tech for more-and-more cost. I am an old Devry electronics tech… when I started, you could see the 3-color-dot-arrays from 5-feet away, on a 25″diag) crt-tv. NOW, we can’t see the tri-color-pixles with an eyeloupe. There screen has more resolution, than a human eye, even close-up. At 2″away, The screen looks like “lookin’ out a window”. Digi-cameras are so fine-grain, they have much finer grain than most printers and monitors…which is the way to “make” or view pictures. Any thing over about 5mp is “over-tech.”. Only the features are worth improving, maybe.
