Does Van Jones Really Believe He and Glenn Beck Are ‘Irrelevant?’

Does Van Jones Really Think Hes Irrelevant?

AP

A New York Times Magazine profile of former White House green jobs czar Van Jones raises some interesting questions.

  • Did he sign the 9/11 Truther petition or not? (Jones denies it and then claims a fuzzy memory that can‘t recall if he did or didn’t.)
  • Does Jones honestly believe that he and Glenn Beck have been rendered “irrelevant”?
  • And the strangest question of all: How did he go from nerdy kid to “Lefty Dreamboat”? (Not joking… )

Jones has a new book out, “Rebuild The Dream.” He is also speaking at various Occupy Wall Street events (including one in Los Angeles on Saturday) so it makes sense that the Times would profile him.

In the Times piece, Jones seems to agree with the reporter’s statement about the 9/11 Truther petition, “your signature was incorrectly reported to be on a 9/11 Truther petition,” by stating:

“I can’t stand bearing the cross for wacky ideas I never had.”

That line seems fairly clear — Jones is saying he never signed the petition in question. However, when the next question actually asks why the administration didn’t just deny that he signed it, Jones seems to waffle.

There was a lot of pressure on me from the right and the media. My brain was turning into putty. I said, “I’ve never seen this language before.” But it was like five years earlier, and maybe somebody had tricked me. I resigned on a Saturday night.

Wait. What did he say? “But it was like five years earlier, and maybe somebody tricked me.”

Oddly, Times writer Andrew Goldman did not follow that reply with a question about the possibility that Jones did sign a 9/11 Truther petition and was either tricked or had forgotten about it?

Instead, Goldman focused on the person he believes is responsible for Jones’ White House exit: Glenn Beck. And Jones doesn’t deny that the attention Beck gave to his history had something to do with his resignation. But Jones also claims that a group he started, “Color of Change,” is responsible for Beck no longer being on the Fox News Channel network:

Ultimately Beck pushed me out of my job, and Color of Change pushed Beck out of his job. Now we’re both irrelevant!

Irrelevant?

I’m not exactly sure that Jones believes the last part of that statement.

After all, Beck’s media empire (including syndicated radio, publishing, GBTV and TheBlaze.com) is growing without his Fox News show. And Jones jets around the country delivering speeches to Occupy groups, leading seminars on the “green economy” and giving interviews to support his latest book.

Maybe he does believe it, or “maybe somebody tricked” him.

To find out more about Van Jones, especially his transformation from an 89-pound, comic book-reading eighth grader to a “lefty dreamboat,” read the entire Times piece here.

it’s obvious that vanjones is trying to increase his stock value by claiming equity with glenn. vanjones is streetwise and has learned to speak “white”. this particular combination can be perceived as the individual possessing “cunning” when in actuallity (along with carte blanche access to important political forums and resources) he’s running a cheap scam. I never underestimate anyone and vanjones is also obviously receiving coaching (from whom would make a good news story) and is intelligent enough to execute major portions of the strategery.

Van – you were the idiot that rolled out your Occupy Wall Street boondoggle a month before Winter – did you not learn the Seasons in school or were you to busy learning how to bring down America – Van you are the biggest joke in America behind Obama, and Jimmy Carter.

On the other hand – Glenn is kicking butt – American’s watch his News on GBTV, they read his books, they attend his rally’s and they stand with him for everything that is Right about America – Van you represent everything that is wrong about America.

      That makes VJ extremely irrelevant.

Van jones, I wonder what kind of music he listens to. what kind of food he eats. does he take medicine for any kind of ailments. where does he live. what is his favorite color. who is his best friend. Does he smoke cigarettes like Obama. does he like white meat or dark. sweet tea or unsweet. He looks like he would smell good, but that could just be the pictures. He never looks happy, he smiles but it seems forced. I wonder if he likes hookers black ones or white ones.

You do realize – don’t you – that your comments ALSO apply to Beck. He is streetwise and trying to be relevant – but isn’t; except maybe to a VERY small minorities (like you) who really believe that his bigotry is the equivalent to being a Christian. IT IS NOT! In fact this site could be considered as the prime teaching tool for any anti-bigotry site that might be out there in the ether – even while Beck (at the C-PAC conference) warned that “WE SHOULD SHOW MALICE TOWARDS NONE”. However, that statement has been completely overlooked on this site! That was a faux-pas on Beck’s part if he was REALLY talking to folks like you – who prove that he IS NOT taken seriously – even when he sends a serious message.

@ Ramon – so somehow spelling (or in most cases typing errors) make the message of the writer less true? Are you saying that you are not capable of determining the intent behind the words unless they are typed perfectly? I think that is completly illustrative of the phrase “can’t see the forest for the trees”

Many people use Internet Explorer. There is not a spell checker for these posts with IE. FireFox will highlight spelling errors, not sure about other browsers. Do you propose that we all type our comments in an application with spell checker tools first and then paste in the comment box? How about those words that are spelled correctly but are the wrong words that get past a spell checker? Like typing “out” when I meant “our” or “the” when I meant “they”?

Sure someone “tricked” Jones with that Petition. That is because it had something to do with the word “ truth” which is not a concept understood by our Democrat Marxists like Jones. What’s that Islamic word for ” deceiving the infidel?” Think they share that deception philosophy. It’s all about winning – politically. And an “ infidel” ( be it a religious or a political non-believer ) does not matter because they are inferior and deserving of contempt and trickery.

“Life is hard”. Even in a great country like America. When Life pushes hard some people retreat to the soft underbelly of the Beast, thinking they’re safe. Not realizing they’re on the road to ruin and destruction, causing suffering for others by snuffing out freedom and spreading misery for others. That’s the Dark side of Life. To live a principled and Godly life is the only road to redemption. Pray passionately for these lost souls as the Bible preaches, and for our Great Country.

In my opinion, Van Jones has leading-man-Hollywood looks. A sharp-dressed man and charms “like-minded-crowds“ into a ”lets-do-it” attitude. Van Jones IS revelant. Pres.Obama would LOVE to have what Van Jones has….THE “IT” FACTOR and it was not what Glenn uncovered & exposed to the world about Van Jones, it was a REFLECTION on Pres. Obama in many many ways. Van Jones is a “10”(in my opinion & I am an old-white woman) and Pres.Obama is a “5”. Pres.Obama has WH power but Van Jones has 99% POWER. The 1% that Van Jones does not think he has is the first part of his statement,”Ultimately Beck pushed (not nudged) me out of my job” Huh? Pres. Obama, the most powerful leader in the world and Van Jones, the 99% power……”power-to-fire” was Glenn’s doing? What I find amusing, & not amusing is the bottom-line is Van Jones & Pres.Obama are “just” people doing a job they think they are good at.
Van Jones = Bottom up, Top down & Inside out! Color of Change? Van Jones is not giving laundry-tips for washing clothes & protect the outside of a garment..turn garment inside-out before washing to protect the original color on the right-side of the garment.

Seems to be going well so far, It is still a frightening awareness that nothing can be done to thwart an overthrow of the U.S. Constitutional Republic from an inside job. But if the same band of usurpers flew bombers, rode in with tanks and troops we would defend to the utmost to drive them out. We would not wait to see how it turned out.
