Talk about breaking barriers!
According to Incrediblefeatures.com, Naki‘o is the world’s first dog to have — and use — four prosthetic legs and paws. The pup sustained injuries when he was left behind with his brothers and sisters in an abandoned and foreclosed home. When his legs got stuck in an icy puddle, he lost his paws and ended up with four virtually-unusable stumps. Luckily, he was rescued:
Veterinary technician Christie Tomlinson was on the look out for a playmate for her Jack Russell terrier mix Poki when she came across Naki’o. Fearful of the pain that walking and playing with other dogs would cause, Naki’o resigned himself to crawling along on his belly at home and at the veterinary clinic’s doggy daycare.
Christie organized a fundraiser to pay for Naki’o to have his two back legs fitted with prosthetics. He took to these so enthusiastically, that Orthopets decided to complete the process free of charge. It was the first time they’d fitted an animal with a complete set of new legs.
Watch Naki’o run and play, below:

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 3:40pmBless his heart and those who rescued him and gave him some new legs. The people who left the dogs in the foreclosed house should be prosecuted. Animal cruelty is a CRIME for those who think it was ok what the homeowners did. But then since they got their house foreclosed on, more irresponsible behavior should not be surprising. And yes, there are plenty of people who get medical help and many aren’t nearly as deserving as this dog. Most dogs are alot nicer than most people. Sick ass degenerates.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 2:42pmvery cool indeed. i have a blind dog (i had to have his eyes removed) one option was euthanasia, never even considered it. he gets around so well that i have to tell people he is blind, his color hides it. one thing i miss is the fact that he can’t run open speed like he used to, but i wouldn’t trade my experiences with him or his inspiration for anything, dog’s are definitely a gift!

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 7:46pmHaving pets with issues teaches us a lot. My “grandog” Elliot was here today-he is blind, gets around fine at grandma’s house with my three, one of whom is 16 going on 6 months. He’s in his second puppy-hood. I believe they have as much joy as they ever did, and they don’t whine about it. I also think those who make prosthetics for dogs and people contribute to the knowledge and techniques that further making better products for all, and I have never known an active duty or vet not to have any prothesis they need. With over 26 years active duty “ wife” of military, I have seen a lot and worked at Great Lakes Naval Hospital. They work hard to give our people the very best.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 2:37pmTruly an inspiration, and what joy on the dogs face. We could learn alot from dogs, about forgiveness, I have seen dogs kicked by unscroupolous neighbors, and every day the dog still runs and greets the kicker. I see this dog with prosthetics and he is so happy. God bless the man who made these paws for this dog!

Report Post »I worked for a veterinarian many years ago and I found two major types of people that have pets.
One type loves animals unconditionally while the other treat their pets as objects.
We had people want to put down an animal because they couldn‘t keep it and they didn’t want anyone else to have it.
One guy wanted to see his dog die so he would know we didn’t give it away to someone else after he left.
Well, some people are so stupid that they can’t tell the difference between dead and anesthetized.

There is no excuse for being so cruel to ANY animal that you have taken in as a pet. Hunt them down and incarcerate them.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 2:16pmI think it’s safe to say that when you see stuff like this, this country is far, far, far from having money problems. As much as people don’t want to admit, animals are NOT humans and when I see stuff like this, I do worry a bit. I mean, it’s heartwarming and such, but again, animals are NOT humans.
However, I will say that it would be nice if half of the people in this country had half the positive outlook as this mutt has.

Thanks for taking a potentially inspiring Doggie Interest (with techno-aspects) and turning it into anti-Muslim invective.
Since those people are inferior to us patriotic Americans, we can spend a little time putting them securely in their place. Who cares about wonder-pup and super-vet when we have good clean superior ethics to spread?

I got an opportunity to speak with one of the amazing people that ‘fosters’ animals and has them for sale up at one of the local stores here. She told me that she had been called to a foreclosed home where the SICK ‘homeowners’ actually duct-taped their dog down to the kitchen floor before they left the home… It doesn’t get much sicker than that… :(
