DOJ Inspector General to Investigate Obama Administration’s Voting Rights Record

In a letter to members of Congress today, Veteran Department of Justice Inspector General Glenn Fine announced he will be investigating the Obama administration‘s enforcement of civil rights laws in the DOJ’s Voting Section office.

In response to queries from Congressmen Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Frank Wolf (R-Va.), IG Fine‘s letter states that the jurisdiction for investigating the DOJ’s handling of particular cases — such as the New Black Panther voter intimidation litigation — falls under the purview of the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) which has been investigating the matter for the past year.  According to Fine, the OPR is entering the final stages of its investigation and is beginning to draft a report of the inquiry’s findings.DOJ Inspector General to Investigate Obama Administrations Voting Rights Record

In the meantime, he writes, the congressmen identified “broader issues” of concern that “go beyond” the Department’s handling of the New Black Panther Party litigation.  These “broader issues” will be examined by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG):

Through this letter, I want to inform you that the OIG plans to initiate a review of the enforcement of civil rights laws by the Voting Section of the Department’s Civil Rights Division.  This review will examine, among other issues, the types of cases brought by the Voting Section and any changes in these types of cases over time; any changes in Voting Section enforcement policies or procedures over time; whether the Voting Section has enforced the civil rights laws in a non-discriminatory manner; and whether any Voting Section employees have been harassed for participating in the investigation or prosecution of particular matters. …

It’s likely some of these concerns were raised when former DOJ employee-turned-whistleblower J. Christian Adams who testified that the Department was pushing racial preferences when it came to prosecuting voting rights cases.

    I expect only dissapoint from the Department Of social Justice. Good reputation or not, I suspect that this will be quietly swept under the rug and then the ‘findings” sent out post election during the hub-bub.

    Is it me? or is this administration practicing reverse discrimination? After spending one semester at an all black college in compton california. I came away thinking they were MUCH more racist than myself.
    But the big issue is….our elected officials who swore to uphold the law……only uphold the laws THEY support…..that’s anarchy from within!!!!

    There are dozens of infractions against the law and the Constitution which have been perpetraded by this administration and the DOJ. That is not to say that the past couple of adminstrations aren’t guilty as well. This administration and DOJ, however, have committed more numerous and egregious offenses. In the past, any one of these would have blown up into a huge scandal and gone down in history as the shame of the leadership, Where is that outrage now to these outlaws? Where is the trusted 4th estate to illuminate these things and say “shame on you” for betraying our trust?
    We must rid America of a DOJ that ignores laws and indictes it‘s citizens merely because it doesn’t fit their agenda. By oath, their agenda should be to protect us and our sacred Constitution!
    Is the law no longer the law?

      Amen, and it goes both ways, white or black under the eyes of the law, treated the same. The past is the past but there needs to be swift and harsh punishment for anyone breaking the law in this administration. That should keep them very busy. I hope, finally, Glenn Fine will take the lead and uphold the Constitution, then maybe the IRS can do their job and go after the slugs in the administration cheating on their taxes. That ought to take care of the rest of them!

    They need to go investigate ALL records in this Admin!! Emails, texts, and explain the Guest List at the WH and why Andy stern, Trumka, are the Most frequent shoppers on the Obama Credit Card!! Also, lets have this IG look into why Rangles Ethics Investigation has taken 2 years and still isnt complete!!     Our great country was founded by and for the citizens of the thirteen colonies. It was designed to insure that a central government was controlled and limited by representatives of those citizens. It was given a limited amount of power, with many checks and balances, to secure the rights and freedoms for its citizens. They were making sure that an American Government would and could not become as Britian had. England enacted laws and taxes on their American subjects, but without allowing the colonies a say in their government. Ignoring the will of the people of America, they bullied and took away what limited rights they had and tried to force them to comply. Sound familiar? Yes, we don’t have to look far across the Atlantic at a despotic leader, we have only to look at the Oval Office in Washington, D. C. and to those whom we had entrusted the liberties of the people and the country. Our representatives, Senate and the House, are there to represent the will of the people. Instead, they have consistently lied to the constituents, both during campaigns and when in office. They have consistently rob the American people, not only of their money, but also by stealing their liberties, little by little. The incumbent office holders allow themselves to be above the law, they allow themselves to steal by back-room corrupt deals and the like. They ignore the very people who put them in office, they even resort to passing laws, under cover of darkness. They hide laws and corrupt deals in the midst of thousand of pages of laws. This has always been a trick of unethical lawyers. Their mindset is to bog down any opposition by inudating them with mountains of paperwork. Then, they laugh and call the people stupid and ignorant, or worse! No doubt, I could go on and on. Their lack of character, morals and ethics makes them unfit to be employed anywhere, let alone entrusted with the security, freedom, and economic growth of this great country. They have taken your freedom to worship, especially targeting Christianity. They have tried to rewrite the American history, to further their agendas, just like the Moslems continue to do with Israel.

    Soon after deciding what sort of Government America was to become, that very question was asked of Benjamin Franklin. In reply Franklin said, “A Republic….if we can keep it”. This is a question that should be upon the lips of all true American patriots. If we can’t or more correctly, if we won’t, then we don’t deserve it. The choice is up to us, the American people, and the answer should be and must be yes we will!

    You’re probably asking how do we insure that we will keep this nation a free Republic. Oh, we voted for only those who promised no more taxes, no more spending, etc., etc. Of course they all were proven to be liars again (or should I have said they were just not quite forthcoming or perhaps they were a little disingenuious?). Then we did the “best of the two evils” choice. This was no different than the “Magician’s Choice” trick! We now know that there is no difference between Republicans and the Democrats when it comes to which is telling the truth. Neither has the best interest of America at heart, probably not even in mind! Their goal is simply to acquire power, money, more power and more money while doing and saying anything to remain in office.

    So what is the answer? They don’t listen when the people, overwhelmingly, protest and tries to voice their opposition. So the American people need to get their UNDIVIDED attention. How? WE THE PEOPLE, must vote any and all incumbents out of office. It doesn’t matter if they are better than most. If they haven’t been part of the solution, then they are part of the problem. THEY MUST KNOW AND WE MUST LET THEM KNOW THAT GOVERNMENT WILL NO LONGER BE RUN BY ROUGUE LAWYERS AND OPPORTUNISTS, PROGRESSIVES (AKA SOCIALISTS), ETC. THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN MODERN-DAY CARPETBAGGERS OR WANNA-BE DICTATORS. THEY MUST BE EDUCATED TO THE FACT THAT THEY WILL BE VOTED OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN, UNTIL THEY LEARN THAT OUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO RUN THEIR OWN VERISON OF CRIME, INC.
    AND THOSE THAT ARE ELECTED TO OFFICE, BUT CONTINUE TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT WILL SOON LEARN THEY WILL HAVE ONLY ONE TERM IN OFFICE.

    We, the people, need to lobby our newly elected representatives to enact new laws to insure ALL our freedoms, our security, etc. Enact laws that ethical or criminal behavior of representatives will be prosecuted swiftly and severly, with no possibility of any pardon…not by a state Governor nor by a President! Enact laws or amendments to limit a President to one term only, ensuring that any damage to our country will not be as damaging as is obvious with this Government. Further limit the terms of our Representatives, both in the Senate and the House. Imperative to limit the term of all Supreme Court Justices to no more than an eight year term and make an amendment that the justices can no longer re-interpret the Constitution, but uphold the laws as it was written and intended by the original framers.

    So, the bottom line is this: unless the American people get the undivided attention of those in government…when you and your family members are homeless and hungry or at the very least jobless…remember, you have only yourselves to blame.

    THE ONLY WAY TO INSURE THAT YOUR FUTURE REPRESENTATIVES WILL LISTEN TO ITS CONSTITUENTS IS VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS!!! FROM THAT POINT ON, EACH REPRESENTATIVE MUST KNOW WE WILL VOTE THEM OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL WE HAVE RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATIVES THAT UNDERSTAND THEY ARE THERE FOR THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

      Wait a minute, I got a better idea. How about a constitutional amendment that precludes LAWYERS from holding public office. Then do away with the IRS. The result? All the politicians and tax lawyers would need to get real jobs. I know (light bulb over head), maybe they could pick tomatoes peaches and do all those “jobs that Americans won’t do”.

      All of the power in the government is un elected. All that changes is the mouthpiece. Real power is behind the throne, not on it. This design has been put in to play by Wilson all the way till now. Lincoln did not free the slaves but he did give birth to a strong centalized federal system. No longer do you hear the term New York Senator, its the US Senator from New York, a subtle but major difference.
      One that will take more than people pulling a lever to change. But at least you will feel good, (for about a day.)

      We also need to do something about the Lobbyists (Which Obama promised to do and didn’t). They wield way too much power and political influence. Term limits are a must for all, including Supreme Court Justices. Where are the checks and balances on them when they begin to treat the Constitution as a living document and interpret it to their own ideologies or begin to introduce international law into our system?

    Obama Worshioer, whatever kind of name that might be (too dark in mom and dad’s basement to see your keyboard when you signed up?) the poster who replied to your post hurt your feelers by telling the truth? You actually do appear to be wearing blinders. Seems to be pretty much the liberal mindset. Do you get them when you sign up with Ax or Team Obama to be a troll? The poster did state “i guess it’s ok to carry a night stick and stand guard at voting precincts..” I think that’s a valid point.

    I have what I think is also a very valid point to add – what if the folks standing in front of the polling place had shaved heads and peculiar bent crosses tattooed on their arms, or were wearing white sheets? Wouldn’t you want it investigated? I would, no matter who was doing the illegal activity.

    And BTW it’s spelled embarrass. I’m sure you know a lot about that word, except, apparently, how it should be spelled.

    Glenn Fine enjoys an excellent reputation. He is known for being firm but fair and aggressive in chasing after true facts. Fine is well respected by both Democrats and Republicans.

He was very unabashed when confronted about the situation and clearly election officials SHOULD have done something immedately. The Hussein Obama administration has failed to enforce voter laws for ALL Americans and not just blacks. It’s times we see this administrations true colors. Holder has also failed to uphold his respinsibilities for this and the immigration laws.

      Wait a minute here. Wasnt the justice department awarded an initial court victory in this case before they decided to bail on it? This case was a slam dunker and they knew they had a conviction if they pursued it, That’s what makes this case so rotten. They couldnt even use the excuse that getting a confiction was too iffy. The decision was just handed down from “someone high up” with no explanation as to why, ANYONE who thinks this is just a right wing stunt really needs to get out more,

      So where’s the logic in your statement? Sounds like a blind faith opinion to me. Obama is quite capable of embarrassing himself. We see it happen every day.
      I have my doubts about this investigation. Eric Holder has a dubious past. He is the one indirectly responsible for the pardon of Marc Rich in the final hours of the Clinton Administration. I say indirectly because Slick Willy was the guy who gave the orders.

      Embarrass him? Wow! Apparently you haven’t fully grasped how Mr. Obama got voted into office. Yes, he was poplular, well-spoken and charismatic. Then, Americans began to discover those he surrounds himself with. They discovered Marxists, Maoists, Communists and radicals that tried to blow up the Pentagon. Add that to the ‘dead’ people that voted for your guy, and I’ll show you millions of disappointed, disenchanted and wary citizens.
      I don‘t fault you for ’worshipping’ any candidate you want. It is your right and I respect that. But, it’s possible that if you read Mr. Obama’s books, then researched his ‘friends’, you might begin to question his word and his integrity. It’s not a matter of trying to embarrass Mr. Obama, it’s a matter of honesty. Oh, and don’t assume that myself or anyone else commenting voted for someone other than Mr. Obama. The hardest-fallen during these last two years are those who believed him, supported him and then, became his homeless, jobless victims. To top that off, Mr. Obama then went overseas and apologized for the ‘arrogance’ of those very American victims.
      According to an individual in London, Mr. Obama is known as the President of Few. I would resent that comment…if it weren’t true.

      OBAMAWORSHIOER – Why is it that you blindly trust Obama? If it is possible for there to be injustice and prejudice from say the Tea Party folks, and my guess is that you think there is some of that among their members, then why is it that in your opinion there is “no way Obama is whitewashing the New Black Panthers” Open you mind and your eyes about this man and his philosophy on what it means to be American. The color of this man‘s skin isn’t what is dangerous. It is his vision and the people surrounding him that is the real danger to this country.

      If you took the New Black Panther situation and changed the races of everyone involved and made the Panthers KKK members with clubs and sheets instead of black paramilitary garb you bet your ass that idiot Eric Holder would be dragging them through the system and there would be no case dismissals.

      So you tell me. Just where does the racism live in this situation?

      This will deadend just like it did in the begenning.When this administration is out and the truth comes spewing forth,people will not belive what they are going to hear,but then again you hear it all day everyday now if you pay attention and open your minds.

      Since the statistical probabilities of Trolls being the first to post on nearly every article is so extremely small, that we’d have a greater chance of winning a lottery even without buying a ticket!

      Oworshiper is likely a paid blogger from the dark side (no pun intended).       Regardless of our high admiration for Mr. Fine and his great reputation, a reality check requires skepticism. My two main cautions were expressed by the last two responses, and I would add…
      Why has the investigation has taken so long and why is it still on-going? The facts of the Black Panther case are clear. Yet as with many of the crimes by this administration, no substantive action has been taken. Could it be someone is waiting until their backside is covered by a Republican majority in Congress? (forthcoming) To borrow a saying from Roger Wiegand, “when the farmyard material hits the oscillator”, Oworshiper and his ilk will crawl back into their holes …..I‘m just sayin’…rf

      I thought the video evidence was damning and yet no prosecution? Why? If they had been wearing white sheets and hoods and carrying billy clubs, they would already be in prison but not if they are balck panthers??? Equal protection or is the attorney Genral not interested in prosecuting balck panthers??

      True Americans are waking up! Looking for open-minded Americans! It has been know for a long time that people running for office will say what it takes to get elected, this is dishonesty and how can we trust these people. Honesty does matter. Washington and our country is infested by people with an agenda to destroy the American Way of Life and has to be exterminated, not violence but peaceful by the vote. We have forgot that the Truth does matter! Search for the Truth before it’s to late! I will continue to pray for all branches of government, nationally/local and that wisdom and knowledge be given to all people.
