Don‘t Fall Victim to the ’Remove Timeline’ Facebook Scam

Facebook users are slowly converting their profiles to the new Timeline style, which will be inevitable for all users eventually, but with that comes some pining for the old Facebook style. Some scam artists are capitalizing on those who want to reverse and go back.

But according to Gizmodo, once you switch to Timeline, there is no going back and users should beware of scammers offering them wishful methods to return to the old look. According to Inside Facebook, there are 16 pages related to Timeline among the top search results that are scams with more than 71,000 likes:

The social network has been unable to keep up with the volume of pages that are fraudulent or otherwise in violation of Facebook terms. There are few, if any, preventative measures to keep these pages from being created. The company relies on users to report pages after the fact. Systems prioritize these reports and a team of reviewers respond by removing the page or alerting law enforcement if necessary. With 800 million people using the site, many issues can be resolved this way, but the new crop of Timeline-related scams shows the need for improvement, both in reducing Facebook scams and helping users understand how to protect themselves.

Scams Try to Catch Facebook Users Looking to Reverse Timeline Profiles

Any site saying you can reverse Timeline is reported to be a scam.

All Facebook users can do is accept that Timeline is here to stay and avoid trying to go back. Once users switch over to Facebook, they do have seven days to approve the profile before it goes public.

If you are on Face Book, you have met requirements for a free ticket to the FEMA camps. Have a great time. You have no right to a lawyer now and your rights are gone.

You people who believe that just because you do not use FB that somehow you have a free get out of jail card are totally delusional. You no longer need FB for these people to know who you are and as a matter of fact, unless you have been living totally off grid for some time, your screwed regardless. But even those who live off grid, alone, are targets because you too are an extremist. Wake up and smell the coffee man, there is no escaping what is coming.

I finally signed up with fb on the begging of family member and a friend. I lasted all of maybe 3 weeks when I recognized that fb was owned by the crinimal-in-chief who held his townhall on fb. I deactivated my account, and a few months ago, found this link to delete fb. I don’t use google either who is in the pocket of the same criminal-in-chief who have the power now to shut down the internet whenever he wants.

I had the idea this would get to this, so I put minimum information out…no address, or pictures with address, detailed info with children, never going to farmville, and keep pictures with beer in hand mostly out. It’s just with family, and a loose storage bin of backed up pictures to show of here and there…but, little socializing on there. That’s what the phone is for. Although I do have an old greek frat buddy that we spare often on political subjects, “private” one between us. And if they want to ‘find it’, they might learn a thing or two.

Oh please, the minute you use the internet, your information in compromised. And if you have a camera on your computer, your exposed to all kinds of hackers.
My daughter is taking computer science classes, which teach about website security. These students learn how to hack, and get hired by companies to break into their websites and then fix the flaws so they are more secure. One of the girls in her class was hired to work for Edison and her starting pay was $50,000 a year.

Every time anyone asks me why I don’t have a Facebook page I simply tell them because I grew up am an adult. Adults speak with people in real life, they don’t spill their guts to the public through a simulated life via Facebook.

I can’t believe how many people have been sucked into Facebook.

Twitter and the others don’t open a port when you visit a page that has the buttons and when you are done using them they disconnect and close the port behind them when you exit Facebook does not.

For those who think they actually can remove their info by clicking “remove Facebook” I got some ocean front property. The only thing you can do is deactivate Facebook but everything you have ever posted is still there forever. It will never go away. You may not can see it, but they can! I deactivated my account and there should be a remove button. Facebook is a wing of the democrat socialist party just like the ACLU. I played the Farmville game for awhile and they had a picture of Michelle Obama on the cover page, promoted Lady Ga Ga too! Leftist people is Mark Z!

      BlackConservative,
My 18 yr old son, who never had a social networking account until he was 16, told me yesterday that he is so tired of social networking. He said it used to be your friend would call you and you‘d both decide to go do something even if it was just hanging out at each other’s houses. Now it’s all talking on the social networking and no real face-to-face time.

      I’m so proud of him.

FB was the best thing that happened for the C.I.A., F.B.I and a plethora of other federal and state agencies. It just boggles my mind how people can make parts of their private lives open to the public. I love it when people say ” well my privacy setting blah, blah, blah”! And I think to myself are you really that effing stupid.

I deleted my FB account (there are many hidden steps to “deleting” it, not just deactivating it) over two years ago now. Something I noticed was that everytime FB changed its format, people would complain adamantly and then…just accept it. It was always “the old way was better” update after update after update.
It kind of reminded me like being programmed. Accept it. You can’t change it. Get over it, and go back to sleep…here’s another farmville to distract you. Starting to sound like Obama.

Facebook is evil it has has been injected into every site if the site has that little facebook button you are not secure. Get a port monitor and you will see what I mean. What better way to infiltrate the web
inject it into every web site regardless of location, country or connection and even bypasses security applications. What a excellent way to spread a mass virus or spy on you are not safe no matter who, what, where, and how you connect to the internet. Including Government security measures perhaps

I have deactivated my FB page, and I know it’s still there, I might just get sign back in, change all my information to wrong info and then re-deactivate it again.

For those worried about theblaze being tracked and all the cookies and such… Use an extension called “Ghostery” I know it is available for Opera and I think for firefox too. It blocks the cookies that are trying to popup, making you anonymous on all websites. It has blocked 11 cookies just on this particular page.

I don’t have Timeline, yet. But so far, I don’t like it. It’s more glitzy, and too complicated to ENJOY. Eventually, if enough people HATE it, someone, somewhere will INVENT something that was like the FB we all knew and ENJOYED, and we’ll all move to that and take all our friends with us.

FB should REALLY consider that THE PEOPLE need to ENJOY FB, or it’s SAYONARA!
