‘Don’t You Have Some Sense of Balance?’: Gingrich Slams Fox Panel for Asking About Ethics Docs

Dont You Have Some Sense of Balance?: Gingrich Slams Fox Panel for Asking About Ethics Docs

Fox News Channel

Newt Gingrich had a contentious Fox News interview Saturday morning, at one point accusing the “Fox & Friends Weekend“ hosts of lacking ”balance” when they asked him about releasing documents related to his ethics investigation.

On Friday, the Romney campaign called on Gingrich to release records related to a House ethics investigation against him while he was Speaker. Most of the charges were dropped, though Gingrich was forced to pay $300,000 in fines. Asked by Fox‘s Clayton Morris about the Romney campaign’s push for the records, Gingrich scoffed.

“Don’t you sort of admire the arrogance and dishonesty of the Romney campaign? They can’t release their tax records, they’re hiding, he can’t even answer coherently on a debate, but they’re anxious to attack me for not disclosing?” Gingrich asked.

Saying the entire report is available online, and that anyone with questions afterward could “let me know,” Gingrich laid into Morris for asking the question.

“That’s 900 pages, Romney’s released zero, and you’re asking me to take seriously a challenge about openness from Romney?” Gingrich asked.

“We were just getting your take on what he’s saying,” Fox & Friends co-host Dave Briggs cut in.

“Even in the news media you ought to have some sense of balance,” Gingrich continued. “I’m just saying, as a reporter don’t you have some sense of balance? Isn’t fair and balanced part of the Fox mantra?”

“He was phrasing a question from the Romney camp,” Briggs said.

Attacking the media has become something of a signature for Gingrich, most recently on display during the GOP debate Thursday when he blasted CNN’s John King for asking about his ex-wife.

Watch the full interview below, via Fox News. Ethics investigation discussion begins at the 3:30 mark:

All this cheering when Newt slams the media is like throwing fresh meat to a pack of wolves. Some are so caught up in mob mentality of “YES!! Slam the media’s bias and unfairness” that they are not paying attention to the REAL issues. Newt can certainly do well in a debate by showing his contempt and anger toward the media and the other candidates. Yes, he would wipe the floor with Obama. However, HOW IS IT THAT THIS IS THE CRITERIA FOR THE NOMINATION? Having an affair once is a mistake. Twice is a pattern. This man has a long history of having no personal honor or integrity. Oh, and do you really want to be calling a woman who has an affair with a married co-worker the FIRST LADY?? In my eyes, any woman knowingly and willingly conducting herself in that manner is no lady. The title would need to be changed to First Madam.

Screw the media. They are a bunch of propagandist who have done everything in their power to destroy this country. Fox news have become so scared of being called biased by the crooked “Lamestream Media” that now they are following suite. Its like being called a racist used to back people up when they had a valid point about the injustice of the civil rights movement. Why would a group need special rights when we should all be under the same law?

For all that the Tea Party stands for, please do not vote for Newt Gingrich. These are videos of him, in his own words praising the progressive FDR as the greatest president in the 20th century, not Reagan. He calls himself a ‘real politic Wilsonian’ after the progressive Woodrow Wilson, and praising the progressive movement as a greatest movement in our time. These are not just clips taken out of context, they are full quotes. We need to fight to keep progressives out of our government, for he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Remember that he also wanted a FEDERAL individual mandate as early as May 2011, on Meeting the Press. Then he changed his rhetoric after his campaign fell apart, which fell apart because of his praise of the IM and against conservative social engineering, most likely because of political necessity. Here he praises it in 2008. Remember also that he admitted that he had changed his book, removing the section on Global Warming, because of political pressure, this within the last few months. Even his scientist friend that wrote the chapter as his ghost writer, for his book, is speaking out against his change. If these are true changes, why would they have changed within the last few months. Remember also that he admitted that he had changed his book, removing the section on Global Warming, because of political pressure, this within the last few months. Even his scientist friend that wrote the chapter as his ghost writer, for his book came out about it

I agree. He does great in the debate, but most of the people voting in the election will not want to choose a cheater (despite Clinton’s success) and his mistress. Santorum looks and sounds immature – he will not be popular on the national stage. Romney looks and sounds presidential, he is skilled at creating jobs, and has a successful marriage to boot. For people deperately looking for an alternative to Obama, it will be an easy choice. ROMNEY 2012

The breaking news that Bishop Romney PROFITED from a company which was fined for medicare fraud and which he invested in should disqualify him from ever running from public office.

Is this why he is hiding his ill-gotten gains in the Cayman Islands and not showing ANY tax returns???

It’s slander of the worst kind, looking for every tiny piece of dirt they can find, not to mention reporting on unproven allegations. The Republican candidates attacking each other is giving the Democrats all the ammo they need for the election. They won’t have to do a thing. Just cut and paste. Newt is a serial adulterer with such an enormous ego that he truly believes the reason he sought extramarital affairs was due to his severe love of America. This is a crock of BS! Newt’s grandiosity is a psychological disorder and he needs to be as far from the keys for our nuclear warheads as possible. I don’t know about you, but I would like to see this planet survive for a few more generations….. and if Newt is at the helm I think that his psychological disorders might interfere with rational thought and lead us into an apocalyptic doomsday!

LTinUT, based on your criteria, a man who had an affair with a married woman, then after marrying and divorcing her, womanizing along the way, and then impregnating another unmarried woman would not be qualified to be President.

So if you did vote for Reagan, you just voted for the man I described above. Newt is by no means perfect as a man but he did seek guidance and forgiveness for his sins from the church. I’ll cut him slack on that aspect of his moral character for the guts and faith it takes to do that, an act he engaged in long before deciding to run for President.

      LTINUT,

you mention ‘the real issues.’ what are the real issues in your mind? Fidelity? Perfection? If those are really the REAL ISSUES, then there isn’t a politician in this country who stands a chance. Maybe you should run? And before you mention Santorium, he is a bit too sanctimonious for me. His strongest suit is accusations and playing the ‘religion’ card. In my estimation that is a very small part of the presidency.

I am a practicing Christian, and a pretty good one too, so Newt’s transgressions do disturb and offend me, however, those are 10 year old problems, not that time makes them any more palatable, but (some) people can and do change over time. We all evolve. Some for the good, some for the bad. Newt has accepted Christ and said he has made peace with his family and God. Maybe he has and maybe he hasn’t. But that is between him and his Maker. The only One who can rightly judge him.

Bottom line for me, though he comes with much baggage, I am convinced he is the only one who can stand up to obama and defeat him with the same weapon obama used to bamboozle the country three years ago and continues todaay, ORATORY. Conservative oratory. Newt has stated, in great detail, many of his planned actions. To this day obama can‘t and hasn’t done that.

And to your last point, your characterization of his wife is despicable. I hope your judge on judgement day is fairer. Even still, I’d rather have her in OUR White House than someone who has no pride in

When the people stand and honor their privilage to vote by surrendering that gift to an individual with severe character dismissiveness to be their leader, with expectation that he will honor their trust, and they do so with applause is rudimentary of the greater ill this nation suffers.
Romney lost because he is LDS. Some of you are skirting your responsibility by placing a priority of tax disclosure before the mandatory due date, over moral character of the candidate. Romney grossed over 300k last year on interest alone; do you think his taxes are calculated? When has he been home to do so? Regardless of who is managing his interest, it will require a great deal of participation on his part to complete his taxes.

Obama is the worst President in American History and he has ONE WIFE. Bill Clinton the BJ boy HAD ONE WIFE but cheated on here like crazy and there are people who STILL ADORE the man. This breaking story below makes me sick and reinforces my view that Bishop Romney is greedy, out of touch and will fire his mother to make a dime If you’re in SC and about to vote, read this before your to so:

    http://www.redstate.com/williamjameson/2012/01/20/mitt-romney-involved-in-medicare-fraud/

While Romney was a director of Damon Corp., a medical testing company acquired by Bain Capital in 1989, the company was defrauding Medicare of millions. Romney profited handsomely from his investment in the suburban Boston company (which Bain, the private-equity firm Romney co-founded, sold several years later). The company was fined $100 million. But Romney himself made a fortune.

And I am not sure of your intent of addressing him as Bishop Romney, which would seem to be a swipe at the Church. I stand and attest the Mitt Romney has more character in his little finger than Newt Gingrich has ever known in his whole life. No low life troll can tear this man down. If Newt fixed America back in the 90’s, why are we in this mess?

Over the years, both parties have campaigned for many of the same things. Both parties have been in control and we still:

      Do not have Term Limits
Do not have a balanced budget amendment
The Debt ceiling continues to get raised
Illegals continue to cross our border
The entitlement programs have not been fixed
We have ignored our own energy resources
      Government is bigger than ever.

I could go on and on but there is a word limit. However, I think I made my point. The American people have been scammed. I was hoping the Tea-Party could get something going, but that’s starting to look pretty glib.

Fox either has a horse in the race that is not Romney or just wants to stretch out the race to make more $. Meanwhile Gingrich who was too busy hawking books and films to create a real campaign/organization is getting free airtime on Fox several times a day to advertise and market himself for free. For the past few weeks there has literally been a daily segment on Hannity, with Santorum running a close second – and more often than not several shows w/ Newt segments throughout the day. The fact is you were the enabler responsible for the passage of both NAFTA and GATT which has all but destroyed the fiscal foundation of our nation. You are also a Globalist and Global Warming advocate who has more in common with Nancy Pelosi then me. You are also anti-capitalist imo based on your recent actions. Does Fanny/Freddie ring a bell with you too? Trust me, you can fool some folk about your changed ways, but never me. You sir, are what’s wrong with our nation. Get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself then you already have. If you knew what you were talking about you‘d realize that Newt was a patriot in the 90’s. Do you even realize what the trumped up ethics investigation was all about? Here’s a link to the ethics report. All you need to read starts on page 4 – Summary of Findings. Read about 10 pages and you‘ll change your opinion on Gingrich’s actions in the 90′s. Oh, and keep in mind, everything the Democrats alleged in the charges was related to interpretations of the tax code related to 501(c)3′s which, after he resigned, were completely cleared by the IRS. Bottom line, Newt fell on his sword for the sake of the Country and his party. He deserves a medal, not some uninformed boob blathering about something he knows nothing about:

Our nation deeply suffered because of Gingrich’s push for these idiotic trade agreements and for that, I will never forgive him period. Really surprised nobody’s covering that part, but I guess it’s because nearly all the Republican party are neocons and participated in this fool-hardy action, but I‘ll keep this flame lit since I don’t want the destroyer of our way of life to ever get a chance to make it worse period. ‘Nough said. :)

They weren’t DISMISSED — They were DROPPED when Gingrich resigned.

This one was going big-time and I would have loved to have heard the end result (Gingrich’s resignation put an end to it):

Newt Gingrich was under FBI investigation for bribery

Little known to the American public Newt Gingrich and his then wife Marianne were the subject of a US Justice Department criminal investigation in the late 1990s involving a $10 million bribe of the world’s largest private arms dealer, Sarkis Soghanalia.

Unaware that Soghanalian was an FBI informant, it is alleged that Marianne Gingrich whilst working for the Israel Export Development Corporation (IEDC) tried to facilitate a bribe to the tune of $10 million so that her husband could use his influence to lift the arms embargo against Iraq in order for Soghanalian to collect an outstanding payment of $54 million from Saddam Hussein.

Fox News has made its bias towards supporting Bishop “$10,000 bet” Romney quite clear. This interview just reinforces it. Fox want Christie as the Bishop’s Veep and Roger Ailes lobbied Christie to sign up for the campaign.

This wont work though: Romeny is about to crash in SC, despite Fox loving the Bishop. Checkmate!

The Bishop is just deflecting the fact that he hides his money in anti-American offshore bank accounts, has invested in medicare-fraud companies, and refuses to release his tax returns.

This ethics stuff is OLD news and is public knowledge from over 15 years ago. Bishop Romney’s tax returns are not.

    What are you hiding, Bishop?

So “Old news?” Who put limitations on honesty?

Like Newt’s past sexual behavior is “old news.”

Okay, so make a rule that a candidates life can’t be taken into consideration. Maybe just the last five years?

      RIDICULOUS!

Ther are MILLIONS of pages in the investigation. The 1000 pages is a sanitized summary. Romney’s campagin is talking about releasing all of the information uncovered during the investigation of Gingrich. The same information that investigation committee member Nancy Pelosi is salivating to share if conservatives are hopefuless enough to nominate Gingrich. He is a man that has so many skeltons that a closet just wont do.

There is so much more to this report. Gingrich cut a deal. There was a very good reason why Gingrich had to pay the highest fine ever for a Congressman of $374,000 and why he was forced to resign by his own party. Nancy Pelosi has this information because she was on the committee that investigated Gingrich.

Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich have different ideas of what to do with federal bureaucracies. Ron Paul fights to rein them in and shut them down before they can do harm. Gingrich pads his personal bank account while they wreck our economy.

While Ron Paul was fighting environmental extremists, the out-of-control EPA, and the Soros-funded green movement, Newt Gingrich was filming commercials with Nancy Pelosi.

While Ron Paul was fighting government bailouts, Newt was saying he would have voted FOR them.

Don’t be fooled by the words candidates use when they are running for office. Look hard at their records. Ron Paul’s record is one of true limited government, anti-Washington, D.C. conservatism.

Newt Gingrich has a long record of liberal appeasement, flip-flopping on key issues, and lobbying for insider millions.

I blame the Tea Party — hijacked by the GOP war machine, Beck, Fox, Palin, etc.
It was Tea Party vote (which is supposed to be for financial stability and SMALL conservative government) that gave him the win. Tea Party isn’t so active in NH and you saw where Newt fell there.

Newt is far from conservative. He’s another McCain, coming up and Obama will eat him alive by bringing up Newt’s past: personal and congressional. Since the media favors Romney, you can bet they will begin tearing Newt down big-time.

The media has just about blacked-out neutral coverage of Ron Paul. Just wait until they turn on Newt (and they will).

I am so depressed. We are gonna screw up again!! How frustrating. Newt is a bad choice for America. We just don’t get it.

Rick would be great, but his personality prevents him from successfully selling it to the voters.

At least Mitt has good character. Moral values. NO he is not as conservative as I would like him to be, but I trust him. I think he is more of an outsider, he has managed more than a hotdog stand, and he loves America.
I can only hope we realize the baggage Newt has and how it will come out. NEWT=4 MORE YEARS OF SOCIALISM

Bishop Romney = many years firing people and profiting from fraud.

Do you REALLY want to vote for a man whose company invests in companies convicted of medicare fraud??

      –>>> See this:
While Romney was a director of Damon Corp., a medical testing company acquired by Bain Capital in 1989, the company was defrauding Medicare of millions. Romney profited handsomely from his investment in the suburban Boston company (which Bain, the private-equity firm Romney co-founded, sold several years later).

Prosecutors called it corporate greed run amok. The company was fined $100 million. But Romney himself made a fortune.

If you are basing your judgement on Mitts experience, then surely you must also consider his political experience as an executive. That experience points to progressiveness. His family tree is progressive. And, no conservative could ever get elected to statewide office in Massachusetts.
      Consistency in logic is required.

It’s the EPA that is pushing the UN sustainable development Agenda 21. I believe if we get another president that’s for the agenda we will be part of a communist one world gov.

Just what is it about Santorum’s “personality” that prevents him from “successfully selling it to the voters”? I really don’t get it. Apparently there are alot of people that voted for him in Iowa. I think it’s time “Republicans” stop being so blinded by certain traits of candidates and fail to see the big picture. The main thing we need to beat Obama is someone WITHOUT a sordid past and some true integrity. Neither Mitt nor Newt fits that bill. And Santorum is the only one I actually believe when he speaks.

Maybe it‘s something related to Newt’s corruption?

    —————–

Newt Gingrich once spoke at an Alzheimer’s conference sponsored by PositiveID (PSID), the human microchip implant company that came under fire for injecting 200 Alzheimer’s patients with wireless chips in Florida without properly obtaining their consent.

Reminds me of Perry and Guardasil

I believe there IS a difference between Gingrich, Romney and Santorum and that is Obama will absolutely win the propaganda war against Gingrich AND Romney, as two quintessential politicians. So much to work with! With Santorum they would have a lot harder time portraying him in a negative light except of course the whole gay thing, which is a non issue. They are licking their chops at the prospect of Romney or Gingrich.

Earmarks are money that’s going to be spent one way or another.
      States vie for the money.
      Ron Paul’s votes reflected that.
