Double Entendre-gate? Reports Swirl About Whether Obama Made an Oral Sex Joke

Did-he-or-didn’t-he reports lit up the blogosphere Thursday about President Barack Obama’s possible allusion to oral sex during a gay and lesbian fundraiser in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Word of the “joke” seems to have originated from a press pool report from the Dallas Morning News:

He warmed up with some jokes about the first lady’s appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show. “Michelle outdoes me in pushups as well,” he said, after saying that she’s taken some criticism on her technique “because she doesn’t go all the way down” – a line that he let hang, naughtily, provoking laughter from the crowd.

“Did President Obama Just Make a Blowjob Joke?” BuzzFeed wondered. Politico originally called it “Obama’s double entendre” before swapping in the title, “Obama’s joke?” (The URL still includes the words “obamas-risqu-joke.”)

But a video clip of the speech doesn’t make it seem Obama intended it to be that way at all: He delivers the line as a punchline, but seems taken aback by the audience’s interpretation. As the laughter continues, he seems to flash a bit of annoyance as he waits for it to subside — more “irritated” than “naughty.”

The Los Angeles Times had a similar interpretation:

Before launching into his serious remarks, the president seemed briefly caught off-stride when the audience interpreted as off-color a joke he made about a push-up competition between DeGeneres and his wife, initiated by the talk show host in February.

      I did notice more family feud from the clan. : ) But, JZ (I never add the S and refuse to even remotely give him any part of that honor) seems to have taken Walker’s win very badly. I’m not sure he has recovered from it yet.

      I don’t even think this was intended by the writers to be a double entendre. Without the childish “ohhh” from the crowd, I don’t think any rational adult would get any sexual innuendo out of that. It doesn’t really even make sense. It is revealing of the LGBT culture when you cannot put the words “go” and “down” in the same sentence without it being taken as a dirty joke.

      After watching the video, I don’t think the pause was a “comedic” one, as Rush said. It looks like he has the realization that the crowd has taken a second meaning out of his words, and stumbles to recover.

      Leave it to Obama to make such a slimy “joke” about his wife at a fundraiser (for whom?) on the anniversary of D-DAY (which, incidentally, he failed to even acknowledge, yet again…).

      Was he “annoyed” by the audience’s reaction? No… totally calculated.

      0bama doesn’t seem to realize or intend for the double entendre but, after watching this several times, the speech writer surely did. They even wrote the “that’s what I heard” into the speech after the punchline. 0 seemed genuinely pffed. I’m guessing that writer was fired shortly thereafter.

      Billy and RJJ are much better than I at “schooling” the trolls”. I’m just a simple Monk who knows Monk stuff and has a “good eye” for detail.

      I also noticed JZ and the Clan…. hey, that sounds like the name of a band! Punk Rock I would guess. I also noticed “JZ and the Clan” going at it again. At least JZS finally called me by my correct name. I don’t know why; maybe he’s slipping? I’m thinking he might also have a sister. What do you think? : )

      I don’t know, KAYDEE. I did watch it again and with sound off at your suggestion (btw, thanks, I can only handle limited dosages of 0. LOL) He seemed momentarily angry. Especially at the 25 second mark with the look on his face and the hand movement of stopping the crowd to try to move past the issue.

    I have NEVER defended this POTUS before but he is getting a bad rap on this one, What kind of an audience would take that as a sexual joke? I would have laughed if I was at a comedy club. I do think it says something about his supporters though.

    Considering it was an LBGT event, it was obviously intended as a gay double-entendre. However, after watching the video, I do not believe that obama knew this line was in there. In this case, he is the victim of being an idiot that can’t deliver a speech without reading the teleprompter verbatim.

    I rarely disagree with El Rushbo but this time I must. After viewing the video, my impression is that Obama was implying that the reason Michelle wins at push-ups is because she cheats by not going down to the floor all the way, nothing more. You could see it on the guy’s face; he at first thought they were laughing at the intent of what he meant to say. Then, after a few seconds, Obama realized how it was taken and then became angered. He recovered by saying that she beats him that way too. Let’s not allow our political differences with Obama turn us into a bunch of cheap-shot artists!

    That is OK, when he gets back to the Whitehouse, he won’t have to worry about making anymore jokes like that, Moochelle will have a new change purse made from “The Boys”, although it will only hold 2 pennies. His member will make a nice new lipstick holder, and that will be the closest it will ever come to her lips.

      Or heard of “Man’s Country” – Chicago’s upscale gay bathhouse, in which both Rahm and Barry7 hold lifetime memberships. No one knows for sure (just as with his birth certificate), but the rumor is Obama’s preference is as a pitcher, with an elderly white man on his knees doing the receiving.
