‘Down With America’: Pakistanis Protest Outside U.S. Consulate After Deadly NATO Attack

Thousands of Pakistanis protested outside the U.S. consulate in Karachi Sunday following the NATO airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani troops when helicopters and fighter jets fired on two army checkpoints.

Reuters reported:

[T]he angry crowd shouted “Down with America.” One young man climbed on the wall surrounding the heavily fortified compound and attached a Pakistani flag to barbed wire.

[...]

“America is attacking our borders. The government should immediately break ties with it,” said Naseema Baluch, a housewife attending the Karachi demonstration.

“America wants to occupy our country but we will not let it do that.”

Additionally, about 500 members of Pakistan’s influential religious political party Jamaat-e-Islami staged a demonstration in the Mohmand tribal area, the northwest area where the attack took place.

“Jihad is the only answer to America,” they yelled.

Pakistan on Saturday shuttered U.S. supply routes that support troops in Afghanistan in response to the attack. The supply lines handle about half the alliance’s land shipments.

Afghan officials said Sunday that Afghan troops who came under fire near the Pakistan border called in the airstrikes, according to the Associated Press. Pakistani officials had said Saturday the assault was unprovoked.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has vowed to support a full investigation.

U.S.-Pakistani relations have been strained since U.S. special forces carried out a secret operation to kill Osama bin Laden in May without prior Pakistani knowledge.

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar spoke to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton early Sunday to convey “the deep sense of rage felt across Pakistan,” Reuters reported.

“This negates the progress made by the two countries on improving relations and forces Pakistan to revisit the terms of engagement,” a Foreign Ministry statement quoted Khar as saying.

Khar also said Pakistan wants the U.S. to vacate a drone aircraft base in the country.

This is serious..they are doing as they planned..to take over the world..When you look at Muslim demographics..it’s easy to see. If you don’t know the agenda.nor the demographics..See here.

There was a time when no country on earth would utter the kind of hate and threats against America that we’re hearing on a daily basis now. From Korea forward, pride, stubborness, liberalism and underestimating our enemies (among other things) have gotten us to where we are today: Not feared and not respected. Thanks to our leaders, I think we’re as vulnerable today as can possibly be.

Get out of there and stop being a front for NATO and the UN. Because of our involvement in those “New World Order” programs, the United States opens itself up to being demonized by people the world over. Bring our men and women home, protect our own borders and let these people fight their own battles. We have artificially kept peace in that region for many decades… for what? To bring the United States to brink of poverty, insolvency, and to destroy our Republic? Listen to our forefathers, listen to history… Stay the hell out of other people’s business. Instead of nation building, we should be focusing on restoring the United States and serve as an example that other countries only wish they could be like.

I don’t approve of bombing or killing, but these people are not our friends. They hate us and would kill any of us without blinking an eye. They do love our money though and unfortunately we keep giving it to them. I just don’t understand how we can throw money at other countries and their problems, even to the ones that hate us and would love to see our country destroyed, and not have the money to solve the problems here.

I don’t know why we allow these things to happen. Right there is a big group of terrorists telling us that they want us to kill them or they will kill us, and somehow, we DON’T bomb them to little bits.

America had better wake up and start fighting to win(instead of fighting to make friends and not hurt peoples’ feelings), or we’re going to crash and burn sooner than we thought.

I don‘t know the facts on THIS incident so I’ll reserve judgement. I will say however, that the Pakistani border bases are known for observing and reporting our troop movements to the Taliban. That results in our troops, your sons and daughters, being killed or maimed. Believe it or not, as a commander in the field, enough of that will tend to dampen your day to the point where, after multiple warnings, one might resort to taking retaliatory action. So all may not be what it seems. Time may tell.

Kill the people we want to kill, break the things we want broken and get our troops home. If evil doers do something to Americans in America we go back and kill the rest, its not complicated. Ron Paul has the best foreign policy ideas, based on the Constitution, and this is more proof of that. A lot of Conservatives have been duped into thinking that it is for our country’s safety that we continue our military might all over the world, but that thinking is what has gotten us to this point. Paul para-phrased Benjamin Franklin in the last debate about giving up liberty for safety. We can have safety without stomping on the Bill of Rights.I believe the world is getting closer, than we ever have been, to a worldwide nuclear attack. Tensions are very high with the worldwide economic situation and now there is talk of housing bubbles bursting in China. Bring our troops home so we are not so spread out and prepare for what is coming in the future. We will be safer by doing this. We have submarines all around the world and we have a jet bomb that can strike anywhere in the world within one hour. It is fear that guides the world policing and fear can be our worst enemy.

If we would truly prosecute a war on one of these nations and I mean no quarter given ,no politics allowed, we would measure the time it takes in weeks not years. What was left of their sh@thole country and people ( no a penny in post war rebuilding ) would put fear in the hearts of every nation to not challenge us . I dream of this for you Pakistan.

Hey Rose Ellen, we didn’t whine, we invaded and bombed the hell out of them. There’s a difference. We handle it like a country should.

Some Pakistani troops were accidentally killed,it’s war and these things will happen. We‘re giving Pakistan billions of dollars and they’re aiding our enemies, they housed Bin laden for years and did nothing to help us find him.

Pakistan isn‘t our ally and we shouldn’t be giving them money,it’s against our interests.

Hurry, somebody talk about how Ron Paul is a fool for wanting to cut foreign aid welfare to people who hate us.

Maybe we should borrow more money from China to give to terrorists… We actually armed Osama, Saddam, and Mubarak. Can we please learn a lesson and mind our own business for once?

I’m all in for pulling aid to Pakistan and any other country that has proven our enemy. But aid is something you just don’t cut off. Suppose we never provided aid to England in 1942? We’d be speaking German. I like how Paul wants to follow the Constitution and withdrawal from bases everywhere but aid to allies is necessary for our interests. Not all of our aid, we have gotten carried away providing aid for purely political reasons, Saudi Arabia comes to mind. But not all of it should be cut off either.
