Dr. Laura Moves to Satellite Radio

NEW YORK (AP) — Talk show host Laura Schlessinger won’t stay away from radio very long — only a weekend, in fact.
Sirius XM Radio said Monday it has a multiyear deal with Schlessinger to bring her “Dr. Laura” advice program to satellite radio in January. Specific terms were not revealed.
Schlessinger had said in August she was quitting her syndicated radio program, a week after she apologized for using the N-word on the air 11 times while talking to a black woman, and activists demanded her ouster.
She ends her traditional radio program on Friday, Dec. 31. The following Monday, she starts at Sirius.

I remember shortly after President Obama took office the republican talk shows were buzzing with a rumor and some type of audio or video in which Micelle Obama was heard saying “whitey”. Of course this video/audio never materialized because it never existed.
I’m sure you would have an issue with any black person saying “whitey” on the radio or TV. There you would draw that line (political correctness) that you are trying so hard to erase.

If you think Tea-Party Sarah is your friend, you better think again. Have you heard anything from her about the Federal Reserve and its manipulation of our economy? NO! Anything about those sacred wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Yes, she is totally pro-war! Let me tell you all something….stop spouting off about the Constitution unless you actually believe in what it says. Both those wars are unconstitutional (see Article 1 Sec. 8, only Congress can declare war) and only serve to enrich the military industrial complex and the bankers who broker them! I was in the Middle East for sometime and can tell you we should not even be over there. Besides all this, our borders are wide open and we can let the Nadal Hissans of the world in our military to kill our soldiers within our own borders, so do you really think they are serious about this B.S. war? NO! Also, they are using this to steal all of your civil liberties and undermine our Constitution. Pretty soon, we will have checkpoints on our roads, shopping malls, train stations, etc. All in the name of security? Are you happy G.W. Bush and Obama? Total Police State coming!

That is the place for real debate, a place to come to some consensus after arguing the facts. The thing that GW and Barry have in common is that they are both progressives. This is the problem. The one thing I see in Sarah, is that she is not. Without a firm domestic policy, our foreign policy will not matter. The drama between right and left is just theater these days to keep you busy will progressives on both sides of the aisle move their agenda forward. That is where your police state is coming from. The tea party is only about domestic policy. And when that is strong and secure and SANE, I can only believe that our foreign policy will follow.

For years people have taken her words out of context and whined about her strong viewpoints. I am so glad that she has drawn a line in the shifting sands of public radio and decided to move on to bigger and better things! I will still listen, learn, and share with my family all the wisdom she offers. Peace be with you Dr. Laura!

I am with ya! She hits it out of the park when it comes to those very important issues which happen to be the corner stones of any society. She sets em straight both men and women and strives to help us get our collective acts together kinda like someone else I know. Before you dis Dr. Laura make sure you know why you are because some of these comments are starting to sound uninformed. I gave her my listening ear for several years and I hardly found a time where she was off the mark or was not right in her approach to helping others solve their problems based on good ole fashioned common sense and values. i wish her the best and making this a better country for all of us through what she does on a one by one basis.

The FCC can‘t shut down satellite radio just like they can’t regulate cable TV. It is a subscription service. FCC only has jurisdiction over the open “airways” – meaning transmitted broadcasts that anyone can receive at no charge.

Posted on November 26, 2010 at 11:27amI used to listen and I did agree with much of what she said, but when she took the position that a husband has no right to know if his wife is cheating on him (if that couple has children) but the wife has a right to know if her husband is cheating, then she lost me. She even stated that a cheating wife who has a child from her infidelity should keep that secret. But, of course, it’s for the sake of the family. Right.
