When a motorcycle and a car recently collided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, flames erupted. In a split second, the motorcyclist found himself trapped beneath the fiery wreckage. Without pause, brave strangers ignored the extreme heat and dangerous conditions and rushed to the driver’s rescue. Philly.com has more:
Walter Rivera, 24, of Feltonville, had been speeding his Suzuki north on Wyoming, down a hill from an old railroad bridge, when a woman driving a car made an illegal U-turn, police said. Rivera skidded into the car, sparks and flames flying. The bike burst into fire. Rivera was trapped underneath, unconscious…
John Solecki, a 51-year-old SEPTA revenue manager, was checking e-mails at his Second and Wyoming office when he heard screeching tires and a crash through his closed window.
Solecki’s secretary began to scream, “He’s on fire, he’s on fire!” Immediately, Solecki ran outside and, with a neighbor’s help, pulled Rivera to the side of the road.
Luckily, Rivera, who was without a helmet and wearing shorts, survived the ordeal. In the end, he walked away having sustained some broken bones and burns. Watch the shocking video below:

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 7:57pmNope .. their idiots. Beautiful, conservative idiots. Listen to the story again. Simple story. Easy enough to do right? They got the driver’s sex wrong.
Not too worried about spelling in a forum like this. If that‘s all you got then you ain’t got much.
It was fin to see what everyone derived from my comment though. And you say the left goes off the edge. As a staunch conservative I find that very interesting. I’m supposed to like everything about Fox News.. a real crackup folks.

Posted on June 25, 2011 at 11:57amAll I’m saying is your compass is off. If you watch that story, and the single thing that inspires you to take personal time to comment on is the anchors, then I really just feel bad for you. When I see or hear stories like the one above my first reaction is to thank God for all the good people in the world that show love to complete strangers. Your comment is just a very ugly and negative one to start off the blog after such an inspirational clip. Start with a negative comment and others follow suit.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 6:04pmIt was a woman who made the illegal u-turn in front of the motorcycle. My informal study says that women are far more likely to turn in front of a motocycle than are men. Not sure why unless they are only programmed in some way to look for oncoming cars and trucks and two wheelers just aren’t important.
When you hear of a “turned left in front of” accident involving a motorcycle, check to see if the offending car driver was male or female…I bet you will be shocked at how many more women make this often deadly driving error than do men.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 6:40pmAs a long time rider, and having watched the video at least ten times I might have made the same mistake. The driver of the car looks to be slowing for a right turn… I would have moved to the left lane, or been in the left lane with out giving this driver a second thought and done just like this guy did, maybe. Laying a bike down like that does takes some skill and some balls… If he/she (car driver) was signaling right… I would not have let off the gas for a second…It looks to me like that might have been the case.
Scary, yes. While I ever quit riding motorcycles, never.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 8:24pmEVERYONE makes those U-turns in Philly because you could drive down one block & be in a drug kingpin’s “turf”. As for the motorcyclist, in Philly those jerks (the typical Suzuki, shorts wearing, no-helmet, young “man”) drive down residential streets regularly doing 40+mph (if not 60+). Base on that street and the field of view, if he was doing a normal speed, he certainly wouldn’t have hit the back of her vehicle like that. If he was a responsible driver, he probably would have seen her making a VERY COMMON maneuver & easily avoided her. I can‘t tell you how many times I’ve almost been run over while walking or run into just pulling out from a dead stop on a side street, just because these fools drive so fast. And they DON’T obey either stop signs, traffic lights, or normal road etiquette or even basic safety. Their attitude is “get out of my way – I’m special”. She wasn’t “whipping” it around, she (if it was a she) was making what would be considered a safe U-turn on a very wide street. Meaning if that jerk was doing the legal 20-25 mph and paying attention, he shouldn’t have hit her. As far as I’m concerned, it‘s a real shame he didn’t die. It would be one less potential motorcycle murderer on the road, and those types of “motorcyclist” have killed plenty and done more damage in Philly than I’m sure most are aware. Re: Nappy, maybe he just thinks this is a stupid article for a national news show – I know I do. Who cares about this jerk, even if he was

Driver of the car wasn’t watching, motorcycle rider wasn’t watching as well as he should have and had no ppe to speak of. This is just one of those situations where stupid just hurts sometimes. Luckily for the rider, bystanders pulled him to safety and he only suffered minor injuries. Luckily for the driver, the motorcycle didn’t impale the car and kill her as well. These two should just feel damned lucky that their combined moment of stupidity didn’t kill anyone and only did permanent damage to property. This is how people learn to be more careful in the real world. Past mistakes and watching others mistakes.

C’mon everybody, we can verbally stone the American woman if they believe in Christ, have a moral compass and conservative values. Why is everyone defending them?
