Driver’s Dash Cam Catches Incredible Semi Crash

A driver in Canada is lucky to be alive today after he captured video of an incredible accident while driving down the freeway on Friday. Matthew Krizsan installed a dash cam in his vehicle after getting in a previous accident, which came in handy on Friday when he captured a semi careening into (and blasting through) the center median and narrowly missing him and other drivers:
Krizsan credited an odd source for allowing him to avoid the accident. “Everything seemed to slow down and I think all those years playing video games as a kid paid-off,” he said in a phone interview with CTV.
Police say there were no serious injures and the semi driver was cited for careless driving.

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 9:40pmThe video IS amazing, yet, what really saw was the dash cam driver and multiple other drivers not stopping to help. Sad.

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 5:17pmAt moments like this, I’m sure time slowed down for the driver as adrenaline kicked in big time and his perception of time slowed down like the 2nd replay or 3rd replay. I’ve been in near misses similar like that and its amazing how things tend to “slow down” at the moment.

Your attitude blos goats. You’d look pretty funny walking around naked, wet and shivering scrounging for berries and twigs to eat and a pine cone to wipe your hind end.
Just about everything you have to make your life more comfortable and survivable came on a truck at some point.
Your welcome.

As for me and mine being the “terrorists of the road”, that’s not much different than me saying that whatever profession you are in happens to be nothing but a bunch of child molestors.

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 1:12pm“Yea, because sitting on the couch eating Doritos and sucking down energy boosting drinks and moving your thumbs translates into some mad real world skills. If this were true, special forces units would be filled with 300 pound zit faced dorks.”
It’s funny, because while you are using the stereotype of people who play video games, men and women in the armed forces, particularly the Army, are actually using video games and simulators to help them train. In fact, some of those simulators actually become games later on.
mitcha_ca_sux is also correct. Simulators and video games are used by pilots and auto racing drivers because they have gotten to the point where they are so realistic, you could literally translate that stuff into real world. In the case of the guy who avoided the crash, he may have a video game where he uses a steering wheel and pedals that simulate real-world motion.
Of course, people talk crap about things they don’t understand, which makes them look more stupid than a kid who avoided being killed because of stuff he learned from video games.

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 1:05pmI am tired of hearing the phrase “God was watching our for him” or “God was watching out for me.”
I remember hearing that after the Tuscon shooting and all I could think was “So, he wasn’t looking out for the people who were killed?”
God wasn’t watching out for anyone here. If he were, none of this would have happened,

Report Post »A truck coming at you at 70 MPH while you’re traveling at 70 MPH, that’s a combined speed of 140 MPH. I don‘t care how many hours you’ve spent playing Grand Theft Auto, if you don‘t drive at those speeds on a regular basis you’re not used to the exponential increase reaction time required to stay alive.
For some reason, God was on your side today. Give Him the credit.

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 10:27amOf course the driver was cited for careless driving. All truck drivers are guilty until proven innocent. I can think of several things off the top of my head that could have caused this other than “careless driving”, but oh well.
As for the dash cam kid, video games? Really? Yea, because sitting on the couch eating Doritos and sucking down energy boosting drinks and moving your thumbs translates into some mad real world skills. If this were true, special forces units would be filled with 300 pound zit faced dorks.

The reason this guy lost control of his truck was due to excessive speed!

I have to agree with Old Truckers on this one.

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 10:24pmMust have missed in the article where it said it was excessive speed that caused this. You know, as opposed to a blown steer, or other mechanical problems.
Oh, and Mitcha, flight simulators are a bit more than just thumb operated. I had a chance to operate a flight simulator for a C-130 once. A full scale representation of the cockpit of a C-130 sitting on a gimble that had 8 independently mounted hydraulic cylinders. Powered by a computer room that was appx 50 feet wide by 100 feet deep. A bit more indepth than your average game platform wouldn’t you say?
