Drunk Cop Crashes Truck Pulling D.A.R.E. Trailer

Now isn’t this ironic.

A police officer in Salem, IN has been charged with a DUI after he crashed his truck that was pulling a D.A.R.E. trailer. The trailer had the familiar logo donning the acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.  But not only is 38-year-old John Newcomb a local cop, he’s the school resource officer in charge of seven local campuses, where he often gives talks about drunk driving.

WAVE-TV reports:

“He side swiped a vehicle that was legally parked on the side of the roadway,” Sgt. Jerry Goodin of the Indiana State Police told WAVE. “After striking that vehicle, he went on and struck a tree.”

Newcomb refused medical treatment on the scene. According to the report, there is no word yet on if he still has his job.

Don’t forget beatin on the wife, speeding on and off duty. texting while driving and talking on cell surely not for business most likely chatting to mistress while wife is home caring for his offspring. The most arrogant people in the world, its our fault allowing everything to become illegal, remember the good ole days when they had to have a reason to stop you, well think about that they stop you and guess what there are so many laws / reasons they have a difficult time picking which one they will write on ticket. Don’t forget the illegal unconstitutional “drunk driving check points” in my area they have now added ” license checks, whats next penis size check oh wait not them they would lose every time.

I love this–you hear about one bone headed cop and then paint the entire department with the same brush. Yeah, that’s a real open mind. It would seem the cop is beyond stupid, given the reports but what I would be saying is, the department gets a black eye for his stupidity and you are proof of that. I’ll bet the rest of the department is a bit pissed off because of this cops DUI because they knw they have to deal with narrow minded jerks like you.

Yup, old Barney was drunk, but not to worry, this will all “go away” he will be re-assigned for a few months and then right back at it.
Just think it we could do a 25% across the board cut in law enforcement, use a small part of the money saved to lock the bad guy’s up and get needles in their arms, heck, lets abolish the ATF, if all they do is smuggle guns to the bad guy‘s in Mexico I don’t see why we need them.

A lot of people who lead the fight against drugs and alcohol are past abusers. They understand how destructive it can be. And, unfortunately, some of them occasionally fall off the wagon.

As fellow humans we can understand the desire to be better and the fact that, sometimes, we fail in that endeavor.

Maybe instead of ridiculing him for a moment of weakness we should help him get up and continue is fight against drug and alcohol abuse.

Hmmm. I wonder how you might feel had the headline read.
“Cop Driving D.A.R.E. trailer crashes into group of Girl Scouts selling cookies. 4 confirmed dead, 2 critical.” So people are laughing as they should be. This could have been horrific on an unimaginable scale. I would think the laughter comes in part from the relief ok knowing that only a trailer, a tree and and an idiot cops career were damaged.

Actually they are current users, law enforcement is a great job, you can do what you want and not have to every worry about going to jail “for real” if they can’t sweep it under the carpet because there were too many people at the scene, all they have to do is wait for the paperwork to get lost later and all is well.
