Drunk, Off-Duty NYPD Cop Raped Woman at Gunpoint, Police Say

An off-duty police officer has been arrested and charged with forcibly raping a 25-year-old female teacher at gunpoint in a Manhattan backyard, according to the New York Daily News.

Police confirmed the suspect was Officer Michael Pena, 27, a 3-year veteran of the NYPD. He was placed on immediate suspension without pay.

“Be careful, he has a gun,” the victim told officers responding to a 911 call from a neighbor.

Police said the woman was heading to work when Pena stopped her around 6:15 a.m. Friday, smelling strongly of alcohol and wearing casual clothes. He asked for directions for a nearby train and demanded she show him the way, police said.

When she hesitated, he put his arm around her then showed her the gun in his jacket and led her away.

“You’re coming with me,” he told her, according to NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.

Browne said, “She knew he had a gun. She saw it on his hip and later in his hand.”

After walking several blocks, police said Pena forced her down a driveway and behind a building, where he raped her.

A woman in another building heard the attack and placed two 911 calls to the police.

“The first time I suspected it was not consensual,” the woman told the Daily News. “The second time because I saw he had a gun.”

When police showed up, both Pena and the victim were still on the scene. The woman cried, “He raped me” as she ran up to them.

Officers tackled Pena, who had his NYPD badge and shield on him, and took him into custody.

    Maybe he`s on of Bloomberg`s illeagal cops that are generating jobs by rape and committing other crimes. Which in turn create work for the judicial system. Now I understand what Bloomberg means by illeagal immigrantion creates more jobs.

    Should be farely easy to find him guilty and put him in jail. Got a witness who called 911 twice, should have DNA, and testimony from the victim. Plus he was still on the scene when cops should up. Just because he`s a cop gives him no special rights. Should be an easy case.

    He was only a cop for three years. That is not long enough to develop (AFTER becoming a cop) the mental disabilities of alcoholism, violence, and sex addiction. The NYPD cadet candidate screening and background checks must really suck!!!

    You don’t have to remove bad cops, if you don’t let people with bad habits become cops!!

      Back in 1193, when I wanted to be a cop, they had to take a psych test. guess this one fell through the cracks. Or else they just looked at passing the physical parts and don’t care about the psych part.

      I have an excuse, I have neuropothy in my fingers from cancer treatment. I try to proofread so those big mistakes don’t go through. I saw it as I hit reply. I do have a family tie to Peter Waldo and the Waldensians, from I think that era.

    The Real Crime will be how little they will punish him, not to take anything away from the young woman / victim . If they do not set a high price for bad behavior especially the people whom are suppose to protect us !

      Actually, we would all be better off if there were no cops. Then, the honest citizens could get rid of all the punks and gang banger drug dealers and their buddies without the threat of a swat team coming down on them for it. And then doing 25 to life.

    Well with him being UNION and all. They will either pay off the girl or intimidate her into not testifying. It might even take a act of congress to get him fired. And we all know how that will go with Obama and Holder at the helm. But I guess we will just have to see how it goes.

    You do something like this and you are in a position of public trust and power?? You need to be put out of our misery a##hole. Hopefully, the victim feels the same way. Trying to rehab preditors seems almost useless and certainly dangerous. Stopping this guy (and others like him) now and forever is what I’d like to see for a change.
