Drunken NY Riot Leads to Shocking Car-Beating Video

As we noted yesterday, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations start in early march in New York. One such celebration gave us video of a shirtless, racist fight on the New York City subway yesterday (although the video has now been removed). And now a celebration in Albany, NY has led to some wild video of a drunken student riot over the weekend, where students hurled TVs from windows, fought, and destroyed cars, even beating one car with a stick and body slamming it.

The attack on that car is some of the most shocking video:

[CONTENT WARNING: videos contain graphic language]

There’s also video showing some of the fights that broke out, as well as the general chaos.  This video shows police trying to step in briefly, but they are vastly outnumbered:

Fox 23 in Albany reports:

Video posted on YouTube shows the scene on Hudson Avenue Saturday morning. Days later some of the damage is still left behind.

“You can clearly tell someone was partying on top of my car,” said Chris McKessy, a UAlbany student.

He says the damage on his car is mild. Another car, shown in a video posted online, was pushed across the street then stomped and banged on it until the roof caved in.

On top of that, the videos and stories heard from witnesses tell of fights, TV’s thrown from windows, even beer bottles flying through the air.

“A kid was jumping off the roof here next door it was just mayhem,” said Anthony Buckley, another UAlbany student.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares told Fox 23 that 40 students have already been charged with everything from minor violations to felonies. He says more charges will come, and police are using the videos on YouTube to identify the offenders.

The University of Albany has released a statement apologizing for the students’ behavior.

“For many students it was the day after when that hangover set in and that the pain was coming, but let me deliver this message to many of you who felt or believe you got away with something – the pain is forthcoming,” said Soares.

Were that my property I would be very tempted to start letting loose with a shotgun but of course you can’t do something like that. It is just tempting that if you can‘t instill a sense of respect for other people’s property into these idiots getting a “higher education”, you instead install in them a sense of fear of the consequences of destroying other people’s property. At the present they could care less and believe that there will be little if any consequences from their actions. Unfortunately they are probably right. Were I a parent of one of these “students” (just what are they studying?) then not only would they not receive one more dime from me for their “higher education”, but they would be working to pay the people back whose property they destroyed. Enough of this “someone else will pay for it” attitude. Let me guess, most of these “students” are working towards education degrees.

Go read their Sociology and/or Political Science textbooks and you will understand this clearly. Just visit the bookstore on any college campus and see what they are required to buy and are clearly being taught. These actions will come as no surprise! It is worse than you can imagine.

Yes go read their sociology and political science books, I can assure you it would be the first time they’d have been read. These are not people reacting because of some indoctrination based on their educations, these are a bunch of kids who spend their days texting through class, avoiding their own work load and are definitely more concerned with Bartles and James than they are Cloward and Piven. This is a simple example of mob mentality. These people are drunk. They are disrespectful and they are a-holes, but to blame THIS on the education they are willingly dismissing is ridiculous. The kids that are into political radicalization are likely not at the annual “Kegs and Eggs” St. Patricks Party; they are more the G-20 types, ya know?

How didn’t they get a ticket for “open container” for drinking in the streets… When i was in college (2 years ago) I got an open container ticket during our giant outdoor party for standing on my sidewalk w/ a beer 2 feet away from the lawn game i was playing… Of course I was pissed, but the party didn’t degenerate into a riot, so I guess erring on the side of strictness works

This is a display of the typical progressive mindset. They are irresponsible, irrepressable and incomprehendible. Perpetually adolescent and unashamed, for they have never had boundries set. They can not fathom such things unless pointed out to them, and then will try to justify such actions to avoid taking responsibility.

why is it that young punks find it fun to destroy people private property. i say private justice needs to be dealt.if it were my car they destroyed i would patiently wait till i saw the punk in his car and destroy it while he was in it. then i would drag him out his car, whip his ass and make him call his mother and apoligize for ruining her good name and parenting skills. the school should expell all students involved in this disgusting display of disrespect to the people of this community, school, and police dept. i don’t mind students having fun, but being distructive and violent should never be tolerated, and should be punished severly. as someone posted earlier, this is just the type of ignorance the democrats hope and pray for. this is the ignorance that gets them the votes they need.

That’s hilarious!!! To the rest of you, let’s not get all panicky! As Solomon said Nothing is new under the sun. Several have been arrested and they do need to be punished and heavily fined. The news media loves reporting things like this. There’s plenty enough really tramatic things going on in the world without giving a bunch of brats having their so-called college fun a headline in the news. Why not a big article on the good behavior of youths in Japan during this crises? Why not an article questioning the difference in behaviors? In a time of crises here, I think you would find many youths also behaving admirably. There are many of our youths dying for us in other parts of the world. I’d rather focus on them. This isn’t new.

      there is no point…
this is what happens since the 1960′s courts decided to strip the moral fabric from society. a direct rise in teen violence, pregnancy, drug use, alcohol use, disrespect, and general defiance since the courts ruled you could not pray in schools, post the ten commandments, or use the Bible for anything other than a history textbook supplemental.
seriously…this isn’t just some right wing religious evangelical nonsense…this is fact based statistical analysis that nobody wants to talk about on either side of the aisle….
couple that with the complete joke that we teach in American Government, History, and Economic classrooms around the country…with the MTv – I want it now and it had better be free – reality show is how life really is – viewpoint….and America…you get what you deserve….

this would never have happened in an America where it was still legal for a Dean of Students to paddle a disrespectful student that told his or her teacher to F!!! OFF in class…or parents that believed it was okay to slap the face of their child that dare curse in front of them or out in public….or a society that wasn’t affraid to grab a unruly youth by the back of the neck and drag them home to tell the parent how that child was behaving or dressing or talking in public…..

this is so lame to say…but what ever happened to the Greatest Generation and their children…what happened to the America of the 1940-1950′s era…..hot rods and drag racing on the boulevard where nothing compared to this insanity…

This is a result of the progressive left and the liberal shrinks of the sixties and early seventies. Inferiority complexes and low self esteem according to them was the problem with society. They did away with discipline and lowered the standards. God became a dirty word and honor was an illness of our fathers. Respect and responsibilities became “it’s someone else,s fault” and your the greatest no matter what you do or don’t do. Look back to the loonies of the sixties and you’ll see the answer. Look at the problems with athletes nowadays compared to twenty years ago. These unruley youths are now uncivilized adults of today. It will get worse with the next generation unless people wake the f-ing up and stop raising hoodlums.

      @ ZEAKSTER

I went to college in the 60s. Yes, there were parties, yes, there was drinking but there were never any drunken orgies such as this one. No one would have even thought of doing this kind of outrageous behavior. Had there been, every student identified would have been EXPELLED from school immediately. Police would have arrested those who damaged the cars and charged them with distruction of property.

Of course, now in our permissive and progressive atmosphere, the college authorities are reticient to take any action. The college administrators don’t have the guts to react in the proper manner to stop this kind of anamalistic behavior. The administrators will condemn the students actions but will probably offer the lame excuse that,“The students were only acting out their frustrations with society”.

That’s the progressive view. That’s where our country is heading. The answer to any and all disagreements with authorities – - – -RIOT!

Beware America. It is only a matter of time before the descent people in this country say enough and start putting a stop to this kind of destructive behavior. Even if it means opening fire on them. Enough is enough. The constitution does not give them the right to destroy some one elses property. (Better read your insurance policies. More and more will not cover damage by civil disobediance. Home and car).Any parent that still supports their child in this type ebhavior is no better morally than that child. Maybe that is the real problem. The parents have no morals and the child emulates.

I guess this is why I didn’t “party” too much when I was younger. I never understood the concept of destroying someone else’s property. Typical libs. No consideration for anyone else, nor respect of other people’s property. I know, I have one living with me right now.

Parents actually work and save to send their kids to college for a higher education. And this is the shame their kids reward them with. This is the thanks the get.
Can we imagine the Japanese acting in such a manner? There was one comment here admitting he helped torch a car! And he actually thought it was normal for a college student to do that, actually defending the mayhem. Disgusting!

      —–

You’re a moron. I don’t know which is worse, the fact that you actually destroyed other people‘s property without remorse or that you’re not ashamed to tell other people about it years later. I’ll bet your kids are punks.

Seriously, get over yourselves – you are not on the wall between civilization and complete moral degradation. Thank you ZEAKSTER, this isn’t anything even *remotely* new – particularly if you look at without the superfluous “student” tag. It’s young people drinking a lot, and being aggressive schmucks – as people (old or young) have been since time immemorial.

Stop trying to pin an extremely common act (i‘m sure you could fill a list longer than all the world’s literature of property damage done because someone was drunk) as the flag that an entire generation is somehow morally less than.

Oh, my God. I am originally from Upstate NY, only an hour and a half from Albany. Everytime my husband and I are up from PA my sisters, mom and I like to shop in Albany and this is just appalling to see how these “students” were acting. The worst part of this, is that a lot of people — mainly those who are of the same age range as the barbarians who went uncontrollably wild in this series of videos — will in some odd way, try to justify their actions. This stems from a lifetime of being able to lie to get out of any situation at home, whether they were to blame for it or not. If you watch closely, it is mainly young guys who are actually taking part in the riot, while girls passively sit around, just happy to be part of the scene. This tells you that boys have been treated much more leniently than girls.

The violence displayed in these videos, is equivalent to that shown during the teachers’ union protests in Wisconsin. For Obama to get up to the podium after the shootings in Tucson, AZ a month and a half ago and call for civility, seems more like he has actually revved-up the leftists / anarchists, who obviously feel they are not getting what they deserved. Well, let me tell you what — they probably WON’T get what they REALLY deserve, which is to be thrown in jail and the key tossed away!

That’s what you get when a community agitator is the President. Holder will not prosecute “my people”, when cutting 60 billion a year out of the US budget and we are bleeding 220 billion a month is draconian. 2012 is crucial to voting these people out of office. But at this pace there will not be an election.

What is happening to us? Liberal parents, that’s what. People are not held accountable for their actions so there is no respect for others. I’m beginning to think that we need to divide the country along value lines. i.e. Traditional/responsible/conservative vs irresponsible/liberal. And the best way to do this is to kick out states that can’t pay their bills. We don’t need to secede, we just need to kick the irresponsible states out of the union. This would eliminate liberal states that drain our country of resources. Let them fend for themselves, they hate America anyway.

Its not a diversity issue, its a issue of lack of respect for others personal property. When that happens all bets are off. Why would anyone want to have anything if it wil not be safe in a public place. Sends a bad message all around. Insurance companies should sue the persons for damages since it was caused and not by an accident.

These kids are so desperate to have “fun” and to be like the groups that they see on TV, it’s sad. Their idea of “fun” is destroying stuff, preferably things belonging to other people, that they don’t have to pay for. I think it would be good if the insurance companies had the names so that when it comes time to renew their car insurance, there is a nice little tag that reads, “Your policy payement has increased by $50 because of the damages you were charged with on March 12, 2011.” Wouldn’t that be nice? What would be nicer still is if their driver‘s licenses lost points like they do for DWIs based on the destruction of someone else’s property. After all, those kids had no problem trashing someone else’s car, so why wouldn’t they trash their own or drive recklessly in the future?

Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
      Everybody searching for a hero

      Yes, MACGIRL. I completely agree.

One of these times it‘s going to happen outside someone’s house, on their lawn, and that home owner is going to freak out, and there’ll be a whole bunch of dead drunk students to clean up. I’d be in terror for my family and my property. If that was my car, that’d be my only way to get to work.

What if it was your car? What if it was your only car, and you had 3 kids? What if a mob laughed and jeered while the destroyed it right outside your home?
