Posted on September 3, 2010 at 9:55amGreetings from Virginia Beach, VA!
All is well, a bit of wind and some rain, some minor tidal flooding expected.
I hope those to the north of us fare as well as we have!

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 11:06pmDo you think Al Gore realizes that the tropical cyclone on the cover of his movie “ An Inconvenient Truth” is not spinning in the right direction for a cyclone in the northern hemisphere. Who knows maybe he meant for it to be a southern hemisphere cyclone.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 10:52pmHere are my two ideas on Earl:
1. The left side will give a glancing blow to OBX. The left side of a hurricane does not have the wind speed that the right side of the hurricane does.
2. I think some of the major concerns will be slight wind damage and mostly high waves which will lead to beach erosion. If I had to guess the winds at OBX would probably be in the tropical storm range (39-73mph).
However, I agree with Subjectivist. The people in this area will need our prayers because tropical cyclones are dangerous and just an overall pain.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 9:47pmHope Earl moves east, away from USA coast. Our friends live on the coast. Hurricane Isabella made their lives miserable. Let‘s hope all the people on the Eastern shore need not suffer from this storm’s fury.
