Eddie Murphy Quits Hosting the Oscars

Eddie Murphy has quit as host of the Academy Awards after friend Brett Ratner left the show as producer following an uproar over his use of the word “fags,”a gay slur.

The news of Murphy’s departure came Wednesday, a day after Ratner quit as producer of the Feb. 26 show. Ratner had reportedly lured Murphy to host the Oscars, and directed the recently released film “Tower Heist,” which stars Murphy.

The director, who has been behind blockbusters such as the Rush Hour franchise and X-Men:The Last Stand, left amid criticism after having said “rehearsing is for fags,” during a question-and-answer session at a screening of “Tower Heist.”

Murphy said in a news release from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that he had looked forward to playing host at the Oscars but that he understands and supports “each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers.”

“I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well,” Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said in a statement.

Ratner had given an interview Monday with Howard Stern where the director spoke in detail about his sex life. Howard TV posted this video of Ratner’s comments on Youtube, (WARNING: SEXUALLY PERVASIVE LANGUAGE):

Ratner has apologized for his “fags” statement, and is working with the gay media watchdog GLAAD “to convene public discussions featuring leaders in the entertainment industry about promoting fair and accurate inclusions of LGBT people and stories.”

“Over the last few days, I’ve gotten a well-deserved earful from many of the people I admire most in this industry expressing their outrage and disappointment over the hurtful and stupid things I said in a number of recent media appearances,” wrote Ratner in a letter to the entertainment industry. “To them, and to everyone I’ve hurt and offended, I’d like to apologize publicly and unreservedly.”

The New York Times reports that GLAAD had “strongly objected to the derisive remark about gays,” and that the academy received a flood of objections by academy members and media commentators about Ratner’s remarks.

David Carr noted in the Times Media Decoder blog following Ratner’s departure, that the academy should perhaps take a look at Murphy’s iconic 1983 “Delirious” stand-up comedy television special. The special featured a rant on gays, with lines such as “I have nightmares about gay people,” and many others that are too vulgar to write on this site.

There has been no official word yet on who is in talks to replace Ratner or Murphy.

    If you support the “Hollywood” film system by buying tickets to their degenerate products you are just supporting their positions. I don’t trust anything they put out….take Happy Feet for example, cute story cute characters all fine until they turned it into a global warming man is destroying the planet movie. Everything they do has propaganda attached to it and as long as we support it they can continue corrupting our children’s minds. Wake Up America!

      I have not been to a movie since ROCKY was last produced. And I have no intention of going to one. Like you said there seems to be some agenda that Hollywood wishes to express. I will not support them by buying a ticket so they can put out their trash over and over again. Now give me a movie like the African Queen or a John Wayne type movie and I’ll be there.

      I took my kids to see Happy Feet (worst kids movie ever) and my oldest, who was probably 12 at the time, said “That was gross. That was basically a movie about a fat penguin having sex.” The whole global warming message was lost on him!

      Just gotta wait a few years, then I’ll be signing off my propaganda for Capitalism and TRUE America. If Gary Sinise, Tom Selleck, and Trey Parker/Matt Stone can survive Hollywood, I’m sure my ideas can as well. But you are quite right…I have a hard time going to films ever since Iron Man 2. The first Iron Man PROMOTED the troops in the desert…then all of a sudden the second movie promotes Obama and how stupid Bill O’Reilly is (but we all knew he was a moderate anyway). I’m such a Hollywood Hater.

      Same thing with Cars 2! I watched it the other night and realized it was a movie about alternative fuels being sabotaged to look back by big oil backers not wanting to lose money and market share to the electric cars. Most kids won’t see the movie in this manner, but it still is a way to indoctrinate our children and youth.

      So true the garbage they push out. I was reading some thread on a different forum where the guy was talking about the last episode of glee his girl watched. He was in the room on his pc and caught the end. Something nasty like two hs students getting fake IDs, going to a gay bar, getting drunk, then it ended with a long gross sex scene where you could all but figure out the positions…

      But hey its just a show about innocent high school fun and singing right?

      I could not agree more, we need to have a mass exodus of Hollyweird and main stream media. If they have no cash they can’t survive, remember when we heard over and over the only way to defeat Bin Ladins crew was to choke their funds. Well we can do the same thing to these elites. I am waiting for a nation wide group to form for just this. Imagine these Hollywood directors spending 10 mil on a movie and making 4 mil?? sounds good to me.

      I have never seen a Ratner film that I liked, but, was planning to see “Tower Heist” this weekend just to support him.

      Then he did this apology garbage.

      I do respect Eddie Murphy for quitting a gig that could have revived his sagging career, though. That’s loyalty!

    Whew, I do not understand this at all. It was not used in a derogatory way. I would rather spend my time reading Wil Adams e-books (see Amazon). Honestly, when are we going to start seeing some of those turned into movies. I watched ‘Atlas Shrugged’ and found it almost too dense to penetrate. In his book, ‘How to Reform the Political System’ Wil Adams at least gets his point across in direct words and straight (oops) talk.

      “Atlas Shrugged” was not dense if you have a higher understanding of the business and political arena. it is about how socialism and economic planning are the bane for individuality. It is quite clear what is going on in the film (even seeing that I have not read the book, but mean to).

      It is all about how businesses use political connections in order to set the system to benefit special interest. This stifles innovation and personal incentive to the point that those who are the best and brightest will leave (much like Eastern Europe and Communist Russia). Those who praise individuality and have the desire and ability to accomplish will simply remove themselves from the equation, thus allowing the system to fail.

      It may be hard for many people to grasp, but that is because it is based on the philosophy of Objectivism, which is holds that reality exists independent of consciousness, that human beings have direct contact with reality through sense perception, that one can attain objective knowledge from perception through the process of concept formation and inductive logic, that the proper moral purpose of one‘s life is the pursuit of one’s own happiness or rational self-interest, that the only social system consistent with this morality is full respect for individual rights, embodied in laissez faire capitalism, and that the role of art in human life is to transform man’s widest metaphysical ideas, by selective reproduction of reality, into a physical form.

      Sorry but I have to call BS on your assertion. At the impressionable age around puberty it is very easy to sway a boy one way or the other especially if there are undue pressures from peers via bullying and other encounters that may occur. Some are able to sort things out and steer clear while others can get sucked right in because of the acceptance being offered by a same-sex individual with homosexual leanings. It may not be outright recruitment in terms of a “group” agenda but it sure is in terms of one “outcast” individual luring in another that feels like an outcast.

      People aren’t born ****. I think there are a couple reasons people turn into gays, or bi’s, or what have you. 1. Something happened of a sexual nature to a youngster at a young age that they, unfortunately, may have either hated or potentially liked the feeling. 2. Others engage in the behavior bc it’s taboo and they get a rush out of going against the grain of society. 3. Others are too nasty looking to attract someone of the opposite sex so they go for whatever. Why is it that the gays define themselves as what sex they prefer to like? A common thing you hear from the gays about marriage is that traditional marriages end in divorce 50% of the time. Do you know many gays that remain in life long relationships? Very, very few. I know of none. Very promiscuous lifestyle. Deviousness…

      Depends on who you’re referring to.
      If you mean established hetros..probably not. However, what CAN be done, is to desensitize children, a culture and the direction of a society to the extent that, over time, good/bad ..right/wrong..etc. (for a society), become relative. This is particularly harmful to children imo. Children are basically empty vessels that are taught a world view and values at a young age. What they are taught becomes their reality. This is how young children can be stimulated to do seemingly outrageous things…like wanting to kill Jews in order to further the goal of those that taught them..or wanting to destroy the system that brought them a high standard of living in order to fulfill the goals of those that taught THEM.
      I believe that children CAN be taught to focus on just sensation no matter who is doing the stimulating……if taught early enough.

      My thoughts** if when a baby is born you can determine their sex, then is it possible to tell if they are gay or straight? If not, then being gay is a choice, sorry. Can you tell whether a baby is a criminal at birth or not? Nope sorry, then being a criminal is also a choice, sorry nothing flies, being gay is a choice, and in my humble opinion a perverse one, that i would not advocate for society, next question.

      Probably because Eddie likes Christians. He does have a family and he is a strong family man himself. I don’t think the man is a degenerate at all. He did make some vulgar comedy when he was young, but look how he has changed. He started making mostly kids movies. He changed when he had kids of his own. This tells me the guy has morals and standards. The rest of the bs is a result of just trying to get along in Hollyweird where the words Christian and Conservative will get you blacklisted.
