Editor Enters Prison for Pics in Playboy Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — The former editor-in-chief of Playboy Indonesia began a two-year prison sentence Saturday for publishing pictures of scantily clothed women, riling free speech activists in the world’s most populous Muslim nation.
Erwin Arnada, 47, did not speak as he was escorted from the prosecutor’s detainee car under tight security at the Cipinang prison in the capital, Jakarta.
When the now-defunct Playboy Indonesia hit newsstands in 2006, Islamic hard-liners smashed its editorial offices and started legal proceedings against its top editor.
The magazine had photos of women in undergarments, occassionally with partially exposed breasts, but the pictures were less risque than some appearing in other magazines sold openly on street corners.
Hard-liners argued, however, the icon of American cultural influence was harmful to morals in the secular country of 210 million Muslims.
The Supreme Court found Arnada guilty of violating indecency laws during a closed-door session in August, overruling a 2007 acquittal by the South Jakarta District Court.
“This sets a bad precedent for freedom of expression,” said rights activist Haris Azhar, adding it was a throwback to the dictatorship of Suharto, which ended in a wave of pro-democracy protests more than a decade ago.
“He’s not a criminal,” he said. “Look at the pictures … the magazine was adapted so as not to offend our culture.”
Indonesia has a vibrant free press and a long history of tolerance, though a small extremist fringe has become more vocal in recent years.
Members of the Islamic Defenders’ Front, which has been known to attack bars, nightclubs and Western embassies, said they were happy to finally see Arnada where he belonged.
“The case will be a lesson for all that pornography has no place in Indonesia,” said Soleh Mahmud, a spokesman for the group.
Velvet Silver Media held the license to publish Playboy in Indonesia but its offices have since shut down.

Conversely Indonesia was a very moderate Muslim country and the average Indonesian is very sweet.
I keep in touch with folks over in Jakarta and they tell me that since 9/11 the Government and some Mullas are stirring things up.

We have lost this for the most part, people seem to think there is no GOD, when we do this we make ourselves god. We forsook GOD, we allowed HIM to be removed from our government, our schools, our public places, we have gotten what we deserve. It goes back to Abraham wanting a son but his wife Sarah was 1224 moons old. Sarah wanting to please Abraham told him to make love with Hagar who was only 220 moons old. Also Hagar was very beautiful. So for Abraham who probably didn’t have good sex for perhaps 500 moons found it very easy and extremeky satisfying to have sex with the very beautiful Hagar. Of course from this lovemaking, Ishmael was born. Now of course we know Sarah became very jealous of Hagar and prayed to GOD to make love with her husband Abraham. Somehow GOD conveyed to Abraham to go and make love with his wife Sarah. Can you imagine how difficult it must have been for Abraham for him to enter Sarah and deposit his seed inside her womb? It must have been really hard for him to do that when after being with Hagar of which the time must have gone by way too fast. However with Sarah it must have taken Abraham a long time to obtain orgasm.
Now think about it, making Ishmael with Hagar must have been easy and very sexually satisfying but making Isaac must have been difficult and sexually challenging. And that is my point, making Isaac was a labor of love and making Ishmael was very satisfying. And this is where Islamic men get hung up not being able to distinguish love from sex. Ismael was made from sex and Isaac was made with love.
Now consider that Sarah made Abraham ban Hagar and Ismael from her sight. That must have been difficult for Abraham because a father’s love can right any wrong. Also he must have had some feelings for Hagar. So begins the Cane and Able story of the Muslims and the Jews. Isaac had the nuclear family and Ishmael did not. Abraham gave Ishmael good genes as his love making with Hagar was probaby intense. However Abraham gave Isaac a good heart. Thus that is why I say Islamic men do not know how to tell love from sex. They are different but it is so easy to cover up the women and not think about it and to take out the male frustrations upon the female tenderness. I would think Islamic women have no problem telling true love from good sex. It would be so much better for Middle East Peace is Islamic Women were liberated. MIddle East Peace could be assured if Islamic Women were in leadership positions.
So what were the 9-11 highjackers doing before their deadly gig? They were visiting strip bars and buying up the latest copies of Playboy, Hustler, Swank and Cherie. So these Islamic males were hypocrits of the first order. And no wonder the first murders committed aboard the doomed flights were inflicted upon the most beautiful of the flight attendants.
So it is a big charade. Reading Playboy magazine and going to strip bars (at least once a week) is the real desire but giving this appearance of holier than thou is what we see. Well I don’t fall for it.
Women in Iraq must realize they are the ones who can lead their nation into prosperity and obtain peace for their countrymen and be the example for the rest of the Arab World to ponder. There must be some prophecy about Iraqi Women being the ones to make peace with the world and to define their place in it. And don’t forget we have the Most Honorable President George Walker Bush to thank for giving freedom where it was needed the most and liberating the very beautiful and intelligent women of Iraq.
Just to finish this post with a little self satisfaction – a quick story how Amerian Indians would know the sex of the baby. There is an “old saying” – if she comes it’s a girl. If she doesnt come it’s a boy. That means if the female has orgasm during sexual intercourse then a girl will be conceived. Conversely if the female does not have orgasm then a boy will be conceived. It should be easy to understand how Hagar and Sarah did not achieve orgasm. Peace is great!

The government there destroys any they find on rooftops etc. The stories have one thing in common; the freedoms we take for granted are desired by people around the world. I just knew one of you boys would take my bait! I will work at not moving too far off topic.
One of our favorite vacation activities is snow skiing, especially up at Ketchum, Idaho. Our family generally does not snow ski in the nude for a good reason. This reason is itchy goose bumps. Other than goose bumps, no problem. Here in Southern California there are some “clothing optional” beaches which are fun, but not many. However, there are nudist resorts galore! This is one benefit of living in Left Liberal La La Land.
Did you know nudist children generally grow up to be better socially adapted, do better in school, mature more quickly and are almost always more sexually healthy of mind?
For you, PSYCHOSIS, you only need to get over your society taught shyness and attend a nudist resort. Bring a girlfriend, lot more comfortable and a lot more fun with friend, girl or boy. You will discover “real” nudist are highly family oriented and the most respectful of people. Might surprise you, three-fourths or more of nudists are Republicans or Tea Party like conservatives.
Visit yourself a nudist colony, you will see it all, from stunning beauty to cringe making ugly to giggle fit goofy. You will also see families having a lot of fun together, with their children. Very, exceptionally safe environment for families.
Reason for my mockery of Muslims in Jakarta is the same reason for my periodic mockery of Christians. Religion typically teaches people our bodies are icons of sin. Religious people sometimes view our bodies as outright filth, as objects of scorn. I am reminded of the recent outrage here at The Blaze over the Katy Perry – Sesame Street thing. This outrage over her is simply unhealthy and reflects unhealthy minds.
This Muslim outrage over nudity is no different than Christian outrage over nudity. When Christian participants here critique and mock Muslims over this issue, those Christian folks also critique and mock themselves, probably without realizing this. Mindset is the same, Muslims are simply more intense about this issue of nudity, or in this case, simply showing a little too much flesh, a showing of flesh which is common and acceptable in Western nations.
This issue of nudity or flesh, the worst case example of reaction is with Muslim women. We all know the result of this Islamic behavior which tends to be horrific. Christians are not too far behind except Christians tend not to be physically violent about this. Again, the mindset is the same. This is a mindset our bodies are sinful, are filthy objects. Islam – Christian, no difference.
Ever see a fat boy at a beach with boy boobs so big he needs to wear a bra? Ain’t no different than girl boobs. Virtually the same except one pair is on an ugly fat boy and the other pair is on an attractive slim girl. Same boobs, though. Why is this? Strikes me this is sexism, masculine sexism.
Truth is, this is Christian sexism which is inherent because the Bible is the most sexist of all books of written history. Boys can display their boobs. Girls cannot display their boobs. Does this make any sense to you? Only difference is one pair cannot lactate, the other pair can lactate. This is the only difference. This is truly discrimination against girls; masculine sexism.
Why cannot a girl be the Pope?
What is going on is within a person’s mind. A Muslim man sees just a tiny bit of female flesh, he goes nuts. We know what he does. This Muslim man is blaming a woman for his sexual thoughts. Same mindset for Christians. A girl topless and wearing a string bikini bottom, as I often am, oh brother, this is a mortal sin. Christians think dirty thoughts and blame those dirty thoughts on little old me although I am not so little in the right places. Why am I at fault for provoking sexual thoughts in the minds of others, specifically Christians?
I must question what is going on in the minds of the religious for them to have sexual thoughts when they see a little bit too much flesh. I prance around in the nude at a beach, sex is the last thing on my mind; I am having fun under the sun and in the surf. A Christian stumbles upon me, uh oh, there are those sexual thoughts. I am not at fault for this Christian’s sexual thoughts, he is at fault, or she is. Cuts both ways for both genders.
Bottom line here, PSYCHOSIS, is the Islamic and Christians are the same of mind, difference is the Islamic are more psychotic about this issue of revealed flesh. Other than degree, no difference.
I am certain our family will not vacation in Jakarta. Might find us dilly-dopping around in the nude at Blacks Beach in Southern California, though. Hey, a girl cannot have tan lines and look good, tan lines kinda make a girl look like she has pickup truck headlights.

Are you actually trying to compare an Islamic nation to a Christiaa one, or the attitudes of fundamentalist Muslims to those of fundamentalist Christians?
I live and wok overseas and have lived in the Gulf states (Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia) and also the sub-Continent, and I’ve vacationed in Egypt and Lebonon. You outta try opening a nudist camp in any of those places, my friend. In fact, if you’re a woman, try walking around Salmiya or Karachi in a halter top or sleeveless straps. See how far you get after the Muslims spit on the ground in front of you as you walk by before the religious police stop you.
The Religious Right don’t like your nudist camps or agree with you exposing your children to them, but they don’t want you arrested for it. Try to keep things in perspective when comparing practicing Muslims and Islamic countries to practicing Christians and the wide freedoms Christians enjoy in countries based on Christian-Judeo values.

I do not try. I successfully compare attitudes of Muslim versus Christians related to displayed flesh.
EL FUEGO is frustrated, “Try to keep things in perspective when comparing practicing Muslims…to practicing Christians….”
I do keep “things” in excellent perspective. Numerous times I make a distinction between displayed behaviors of Muslims and displayed behaviors of Christians. In my article I am careful to note the “mindset” of Muslims and Christians on displaying flesh is the same but displayed behaviors differ by degree of intensity.
You need to read more carefully rather than skim then pass uninformed judgment.

We are told again and again by experts and talking heads that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the ‘silent majority,’ is cowed and irrelevant.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of over 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across Southeast Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
And can we forget Rwanda , which has collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were peace loving?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts — the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Sharia Law has been imposed in neighborhoods there where, by agreement, law enforcement stays out of those areas and allows muslims to govern themselves … ON SOVEREGN (sp) TERRITORY!!! The brits? The Dutch? It’s OK though. Our British and Dutch brothers and sisters are fighting back. Hell, even the French have had enough of ISLAM! Soon, all muslims will be deported back to where they came from! AND HELL is where they came from!!!

Those were my thoughts exactly. There is nothing wrong with Campbell‘s Soup making a product line for a specific group as long as it doesn’t become the only choice. Kosher products for our Jewish population is a perfect example of capitalism at work. The companies find they have a sufficient customer base to justify making “Kosher” products and still make a profit. No harm no foul until someone mandates we all have to eat Kosher foods.
