Egypt: 13 Killed, 140 Injured in Violent Christian-Muslim Clashes

At least 13 people were killed and another 140 injured when Muslims and Coptic Christians clashed in Cairo on Tuesday. Members of both religious groups were killed in the violence which began when Copts protested the burning of a local church.
According to the BBC, the violence erupted when Coptic protesters blocked a highway, prompting angry Muslims trying to pass through. Witnesses said both sides hurled stones and members of the army fired into the air in an attempt to disperse the crowds.
The country’s Sunni authority has urged Muslims to help rebuild the destroyed church, calling its destruction non-Islamic:
The Grand Imam of al-Azhar issued a statement on Tuesday condemning the attack on the church in Atfih, Hilwan governorate, as “a distortion of Islam”.
Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayyib called on Muslim residents of the town to help start rebuilding the church and to refrain from sectarian violence, Egypt’s official news agency, Mena, reported.
Meanwhile, thousands of Coptic protesters continued their sit-in outside the state television building. They are calling for the rebuilding of the church, better protection for Christians, and a full investigation into last week’s attack.
Coptic Christians comprise about 10 percent of Egypt’s population and have often complained of harassment and discrimination in the past. In January, a suicide bomber killed 23 people worshiping at a Coptic church in Alexandria. In addition, an Egyptian man received a death sentence for killing six Copts and a Muslim policeman in the country’s southern region.

I know several people in Egypt and the scenario I just wrote is a common one. Is there inter faith violence? Sure, but there is here also. Go back a couple of weeks and there were a few stories in the news (including on Al Jazeera) that described just that. This is reactionary journalism

They are taking advantage of our core principles as a nation to use against us all the while they slowly gain in number to one day rise up in jihad against us–ruling America. This is their plan. Soetoro helping them out by allowing refugees from Pakistan to enter by the thousands does not help either. Soetoro gives us the middles finger so do the muslims by not assimilating to our way of life. They cling to their culture for fear of losing their identity perhaps? If this is case–go back from where you came. If you cannot identify yourself as an American, not Afro, muslim, etc. then leave.

Another thing I’m wondering about, where did all the ‘muslim refugees’ go that ‘imposter’ Soetoro allowed into our country from Pakistan?

What they fail to realize is that by constantly trying to convince everyone that black is white and the sky is down and the ground up is they will end up causing such a horrible event. By the left not having an honest conversations about the problems with this religion they are delaying and perhaps killing the chance to be able to solve these problems without violence (or should I say, more violence). Most sane people would have gratitude towards someone who stood to protect them. One good turn deserves another. Its sad in a way. These people are so blind and deceived. I don’t know if I can do what Glen is advocating as far as nonviolence. So tell me all you wise men here on the Blaze. What is a Christian, who knows that Jesus wants us to be non-violent and forgiving, to do when family is threatened? I don’t want to hurt anyone. These Christians are facing the same delema in Egypt and elsewhere. And we in this country are going to be dealing with some of the same madness.
I told my wife that I would put a bullet in my own head rather than stand by and watch her and my children be hurt. With that I started making preparations. Maybe I’m wrong but God is going to have to sort out the mess.

The Jihad DEPENDS on you allowing yourself to be deceived into using labels than can apply to almost any group of people.
For example, the IRA was a terrorist organization. However, their main goal was NOT the ascendancy of IRA over all the planet. The IRA does not have a 1,400 year of track record of bringing down nations and cultures. They are terrorists. You would never call them jihadists, right? Why call a jihadi a terrorist?

Before that Egypt was part of the lands conquered by Alexander The Great and the seat of Western Civilization. The greatest minds of the Hellenistic Age resided in Egypt. And before that Egypt’s pharaonic past is well-known.
At the end of the Hellenistic Age, the Coptic Christians assumed certain traditions from their pharaonic past that signaled the end of Hellenism. The Christians enjoyed peace and plenty for many years. Until The Jihad.
Egypt is a Western nation. It was once the seat of Western Civilization. Eureka!

I am somewhat encouraged by the Muslim leaders described in this article who were condemning the attack and calling for the church to be rebuilt. If more good people come out and stand arm in arm we can all survive, but If this hatred doesn’t stop it will be an all out bloodfest in the name of religion which completely blows my mind always has and always will…

I only ask because what most Americans don’t know is the only book a large % of Muslims read if they can read at all is the Koran, it would be the equivalent of you going through life having only read Dick and Jane as a bases judgment.
It’s not just about Religion; it’s a lack of reasoning skills and judgment on the part of muslims.
