Egypt Releases Military on Citizens as Rioters Storm Gov’t Buildings

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt‘s military deployed on the streets of Cairo to enforce a nighttime curfew as the sun set Friday on a day of rioting and chaos that was a major escalation in the challenge to authoritarian President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule.

Thousands defied the night curfew in the capital Cairo and were trying to storm two major government buildings – the state TV and the Foreign Ministry. Others were praying on the streets of Cairo after nightfall.

Flames rose up across a number of cities from burning tires and police cars. Even the ruling party headquarters in Cairo was ablaze in the outpouring of rage, bitterness and utter frustration with a regime seen as corrupt, heavy-handed and neglectful of grinding poverty that afflicts nearly half of the 80 million Egyptians. Some protesters were looting television sets and electric fans from the burning headquarters.

One protester was killed, bringing the death toll for four days of protest to eight.

“I can’t believe our own police, our own government would keep beating up on us like this,” said Cairo protester Ahmad Salah, 26. “I’ve been here for hours and gassed and keep going forward, and they keep gassing us, and I will keep going forward. This is a cowardly government and it has to fall. We’re going to make sure of it.”

Internet and cell phone services, at least in Cairo, appeared to be largely cut off since overnight in the most extreme measure so far to try to hamper protesters form organizing. However, that did not prevent tens of thousands from flooding the streets, emboldened by the recent uprising in Tunisia – another North African Arab nation.

The sustained and intensifying demonstrations raised serious questions about whether Mubarak could keep his grip on power. Egypt is Washington’s closest Arab ally, but Mubarak may be losing U.S. support. The Obama administration has publicly counseled him to introduce reforms and refrain from using violence against the protesters.

In one of many astonishing scenes Friday, thousands of anti-government protesters wielding rocks, glass and sticks chased hundreds of riot police away from the main square in downtown Cairo and several of the policemen stripped off their uniforms and badges and joined the demonstrators.

An Associated Press reporter saw the protesters cheering the police who joined them and hoisting them on their shoulders in one of the many dramatic and chaotic scenes across Egypt on Friday.

After chasing the police, thousands of protesters were able to flood into the huge Tahrir Square downtown after being kept out most of the day by a very heavy police presence. Few police could be seen around the square after the confrontation.

The protesters were energized Friday by the return of Nobel Peace laureate Mohamed ElBaradei, one of the country’s leading pro-democracy advocates. He returned to the country Thursday night after a month abroad, declaring he was prepared to lead the opposition to a regime change.

When he joined protesters Friday after noon prayers, police fired water cannons at him and his supporters. They used batons to beat some of ElBaradei’s supporters, who surrounded him to protect him.

A soaking wet ElBaradei was trapped inside a mosque while hundreds of riot police laid siege to it, firing tear gas in the streets around so no one could leave. Tear gas canisters set several cars ablaze outside the mosque and several people fainted and suffered burns.

When he returned home police stationed outside told him he was not allowed to leave again.

Reading Fang’s posts with great interest. Or, maybe that’s really Van Jones in disguise, dunno. Just as the Tea Party has been and is doing, non-violence only. Let the progressives begin the bottom side up, top side down, inside out movement. When the dust settles, we conservatives will only have strengthened our point(s) and image.

Just wait. What you’re seeing in Egypt, Tunisia, etc., will be on our doorsteps very soon. You don‘t think Obama’s administration knows that already??? He’s trying to get an anti-2nd Amendment bill passed; there ARE FEMA camps already set up around the country; he has the ‘kill switch’ for the internet in case of ‘national emergency’. Why do you think they are doing all of this? It‘s because they see what’s coming…it’s called CYA. We need to do the same.

Come on, enough with the FEMA camps already.

Look, if that stuff were true, and I mean absolutely provably true, not just “interesting coincidences or assertions by ”some people“ ” we are WAAAY past a revolt. If they’ve got the FEMA camps and the human incinerators, and the biological weapons prepared for the American people ready like the Jonesian kook-burgers talk about, then its more than time for a collective awakening and revolt, it’s time for open warfare.

We have a saying around circles I keep that if you think S has HTF, and you run out into the street in full battle rattle and camo and you’re the only one, go back inside, it isn’t time yet.

If we understand history the people in rule of all places are all related always have been then it will become eaiser to understand. The British Royals all asre descended from the Prophet Mohammed & his son’s line, as well as the leaders in the Middle East , Queen Elizabeth ‘s line even goes back to the Tang Dynasty of China. We all know 41-44 US Presidents are all related, plus they are related to Queen Elizabeth, hence, Obama is also related to her via King Edward I ,thast is why he bowed to her. Mubarak is also related to her, hence he is in hiding in the UK today. They have always ruled ,it matter not who runs here for President as long as they of this same line they get the job, Palin is related to Bush,Cheney, Obama, Kerry they are all related. The mission world wide is tear the economies down to get on a one world currency and be ruled out of England & Rome like the days of the Roamn empire, slaves to the rulers.

It’s pretty simple. Do you want a military that protects the people? Or the government from the people? Our Founders kind of knew what they were doing when they created the constitution of the United States.

When the socialist programs in the U.S. dry up and the majority of people in this country that didn’t realize the depth and scope of these programs and their economic effect on all of us, the frustration will reach a feverish pitch from all sectors. Then Greece, Italy,France,Egypt will be picnics by comparison. Most people don’t realize how the government subsidies have been propping up our false economy for decades. All citizens have supported and contributed to this phenomenon with awareness or ignorance. We had better get real. When almost 50% of the population is receiving govt. subsidies, and the govt. now owns or controls a large portion of the private sector growth potential, then when that government fails to meet it’s obligations Katy bar the door.

Government is the enemy of the people. People must have government because we run amok without it. Government of the people, by the people, for the people is what our founders thought would work, and it did for a long time. We are at a crossroad here that is not unlike the crossroad in Egypt. We have allowed our enemy government to become a master much like the europeans or Egypt’s are. We need to use our votes so we don’t have to take those kind of beatings and killings from our government.

We need the 2nd amendment now more than any time in our history. It’s the only thing that can hold a tyranical Government at bay.

I find several portions of this story quite interesting and quite concerning.

First, who is leading this revolt? Is it a true pro-democracy movement? Is it an islamist movement? Is it a communist movement? Who is it? That means a lot.

Second, note the age of the people demanding change. Not that you can’t be young and have a plan, but really, like the episode on the WeatherUnderground that Glenn did months ago, when the FBI agent asked the Weathermen, what was the plan if they succeeded? The Weathermen response was horrifying. That China or North Vietnam would invade to help rebuild a new structure. What is the plan if Mubarek goes away? How do they control the Muslim Brotherhood? How do they control their borders or ports or transportation of goods and services? We live in an extraordinary fragile time period, a major disruption of food and water distribution could result in catastrophe!

Third, the responses of some on this forum really show quite a lack of conscious. That the response to this in the United States would be a private 2nd Amendment solution means that we have truly devolved into anarchy. The end result of this wouldn’t be pretty on any level and just imagine how the top would come crashing down on private firearms ownership! The progressives are begging for someone to do something truly stupid with a firearm so they can halt all of the weapons sales and ownership now as it exists.

Finally, the internet kill. Did you notice that the government just killed it. It didn’t take a bill, it wasn’t necessary to debate it, the government just shut it down. You don’t think they could do that right now if they wanted too? Furthermore, you don’t think that cell and landline service would be next, and fast? Final thought, someone on this sight mentioned that we as Americans would never stand for the internet/communications kill switch being activated. Really? We stood by as New Orleans was divested of its firearms, you really think that A: people would know the goverment killed the internet, and B: that they would have the gumption necessary to demand it’s return?

I don’t know if we have the spine anymore.

Hopefully it can get done through elections here. I, for one, don’t wish this on the USA. Legislation is being introduced to audit the FED and I think there are about a dozen republicans in Congress who are not just puppets for the global elite. Lets hope we can do more with the coming elections.

The main problem here is that we have lost an entire generation, or more, to the liberal indoctrination of our public school system. These kids all buy into the BS of global warming and aren‘t old enough to know the planet isn’t melting a little more every time they start their cars.

The under 35 crowd are all playing stupid games on Facebook and their news, for the most part, is limited to the editorialized headlines on varioius websites which instead of reading a truthful
“Rand Paul Introduces Legislation To Audit The FED”

      they instead read something like
“Tea Party Senator Seeks Delay of Qualitative Easing Which Could Destroy Fragile Recovery Obama Has Worked So Hard On These Last Two Years.”

Use a term that isn’t explained on Farmville, or Frontierville so none of the youngsters will understand but make sure they program conservatives / tea party bad but Obama is good into everyone’s minds.

At least an entire generation will not question this. Remember they believe the planet is melting so when Obama want to turn off the Internet for the good of the Earth, they will just believe he is that much the better and even take pity on him for being in the position of having to take Farmville and Facebook away from millions to save the planet. They wouldn’t wish that on their worst enemy, The Conservatives.

Anyway, point here being is that it can still be done with elections with a handful of powerful legislatures who will work against the Global Elitists agenda. We need educators and to get the good guys back in the schools with local control over curriculums. Department of Education is sinister in what they are doing to our youth.

Hopefully we don’t dissolve into what is happening in Egypt here in the US, but I can tell you this, Americans are not going to put up with much more. NOW is the time to push peacefully in the election process and with the good guys in Congress. Stop the bleeding and then get good people into our schools that will stop the liberal brainwashing of our kids. Then get on TV shows. Much as I like Glen Beck‘s that’s not what I’m talking about. I mean produce shows where in the storyline some woman keeps her baby, or buys a gun to defend herself, or says “I won’t be attending your ***** party ’cause I have a husband.”

Of course, we should all take heed by looking to Egypt and notice how the government is quick to turn its military and police force on its citizens. They will do that here.

The elitist plan is to rile us up to protest so they can declare martial law here in the US. Then the NWO can be turned on and we can all live like the Chinese. There are still some of us that would choose death over that kind of life. Hopefully we can get it all fixed peaceably through elections and never resorting to violence.

We have to weaken the power the government has over us. NOT WEAKEN THE USA, but weaken the government’s authority to dictate our lives. At least we need to make the Federal Government obey the Constitution. It has to be done through elections and peaceably though. Otherwise, martial law and NWO. The left will probably start getting violent soon so they can provide the excuse for martial law and the turning on of the NWO.

When that starts you will have at least 100 million angry Americans to contend with. That‘s too many to handle without nukes and I bet most of the global elite won’t wager that they are enough part reptile to survive if they do that to the country.

If you’re referring to what happened to the Indian tribes, then you have my apologies for misinterpreting you.

You are not in America so when you burn down Government building attack cops and destroy private businesses they are coming after you. Beside violence will not get you a better government see Cuba/Russia etc as examples

This all started about a week ago with a Egyptian Coptic (Christian) uprising, because they are sick of being murdered by Islamists. Egypt is about 10% Christian and before Islam it was nearly 100% Christian. There are Muslims standing with Christians—-and then there is the Muslim Brotherhood which seeks to exploit this situation.

The hope for Egypt and other “Islamic” countries is that they remember their true history.

This historic interview on Israel National Radio shines light on the Pre-Abrahamic history of the “Middle-East” and exposes Islam for the reconstituted blood-thirst cult of Baal worship under the guise of a pseudo-monotheistic “religion” that it is.

Please people, be careful what you wish/pray for. I am very doubtful any democracy can survive let alone form in a Muslim country. They are exact opposites. When these protests start in Europe, especially Britain, look for it to start here, probably in Dearborn, MI or Minneapolis, MN first.

The is a revolution going on in the Middle East. The people want to be free of the dictators. I just hope they go in the direction of democracy and not Islamic extremism. You could call it the Bush revolution, as Sadam was the first to go in Iraq. As far as Egypt, you could do a lot worse than Mubarak, but I don’t think ElBaradai is an extremist. Of course the danger is that democracy could bring in Islamic extremism like in Gaza. In Iran though, the people are trying to turn from the islamist mullahs. We do live in very interesting times.

Not true, just refer to Waco those ppl didn’t do anything wrong. They had their own religion which is protected by the first amendment and they had guns which is also protected by the constitution. That didn’t stop Bill Clinton and Janet Reno calling in the alphabet police and military and kill innocent men, women and children.

Get real people. This not about an “Islamo-fascist” takeover of the Middle East. This is about the citizens of a country rising up against a repressive authoritarian government. I’ll let you in on a little secret. You want to know why the people of the Middle East dislike the United States so much? It not because of religion; it’s because our government has for decades supported dictators and harsh regimes that are cruel and corrupt.

Using the Military on citizens? That can’t happen here. We have The Posse Comitatus Act, passed on June 18, 1878.

Oh, wait, wasn’t that recently changed?

The President may employ the armed forces… to… restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition… the President determines that… domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order… or [to] suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such… a condition… so hinders the execution of the laws… that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law… or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.

      Yep…

Burn buildings, throw rocks at the cops, and riot like jerks, you had better expect to get beaten up. Dummy!

This world has gone absolutely crazy. Nobody wants to think anymore or try using logic. Heck, I may start a new political organization called the “Logic and Thinking is Dead” party. It would be HUGE!

What to you expect, when you ‘riot’, burn, throw rocks and bottles at police. Where is the ‘peaceful’ demonstration?……You cry about the internet being turned off, only because you can’t get your staged pictures to inspire revolution….Good for you Mubarak…….get the Muslim Brotherhood that killed Sadat…destroy their cells….Then wake up and consider really helping your people.
