Egypt Reportedly Moves Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Tank Missiles into Sinai in Violation of Israel Peace Treaty

Report: Egypt Moves Anti Aircraft and Anti Tank Missiles to Sinai in Violation of Israel Peace Treaty

Israel Radio – Voice of Israel – is reporting that Egypt has moved anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles into the Sinai Peninsula, which if true would be a violation of the 1979 Camp David peace accords it signed with Israel which limits the forces Egypt is allowed to position in the Sinai.

Just last week, Israeli officials said they were concerned by the movement of tanks and armored vehicles into the Sinai – ostensibly to aid Egyptian forces in their battle with the growing jihadi terrorist threat growing in the area bordering Israel. But the addition of more sophisticated weaponry and the fact that terrorists in the Sinai are not armed with aircraft or tanks is raising alarm bells in Israel. Arab Affairs Correspondent Eran Zinger reports:

It must be said that the situation is very fluid. This is something that is happening in these recent days, that the Egyptian army is showing determination it did not show in the past to battle terror elements. […]

I’m talking about the introduction of advanced weapons by elements trying to change the situation. So if the Egyptian Army is trying now to change the situation in the Sinai with weapons it’s not supposed to put there, then this should concern Israel. And if the rebels in Syria start to receive from the Americans Stinger missiles to hit Syrian Air Force planes, then this should also concern us.

Zinger says Israel’s eyes should be open to all the threats near and far, not just to Iran.” Israel National News is interpreting the move as threatening to Israel and reminiscent of a grave past experience:

If the report is true, the move is an overtly hostile one toward Israel and can only mean that Egypt is preparing for hostilities with the Jewish state. Ostensibly, Egyptian forces moved into Sinai only in order to crush terrorist activity there. However, the terrorists possess no aircraft. Therefore anti-aircraft missiles can only be intended against Israel’s air force.

In the prelude to the Yom Kippur War of 1973, Egypt moved anti-aircraft missiles close to the Suez Canal, despite a commitment not to do so. Israel chose to ignore the move, and the result was catastrophic, when the missiles shot down numerous IAF jets after war broke out.

On Tuesday, Ma’ariv reported that Netanyahu’s office sent a stern message to Egypt — via the White House — demanding that Egypt move its tanks out of the Sinai and immediately stop deploying military assets in the peninsula without coordination with Israel. A senior Israeli official tells the paper, “This is a severe violation of the peace treaty between the states.”

Reuters quotes Egyptian security sources who say “Egypt is preparing to use aircraft and tanks in Sinai for the first time since the 1973 war with Israel in its offensive against militants in the border area.” It also plans to use mobile rocket-launchers according to the report.

Even before the anti-aircraft missiles report, Ha’aretz called the Sinai deployment “the most extensive activity by the army in Sinai since the Yom Kippur War 39 years ago.” It reported over the weekend that Egypt’s “unilateral” decision to move heavy weaponry into the Sinai “should set off warning bells in Jerusalem.”

Israel had prior knowledge about, and consented to, the use of some of the military reinforcements that were sent into the peninsula as well as the warplanes that were employed. But Egypt took action above and beyond what both sides agreed the Egyptian military needed to do in order to operate throughout Sinai. It turns out that additional forces were sent in, almost without anyone noticing, and without Jerusalem’s agreement.

There is an American angle here as well. The U.S. provides $1.3 billion per year in military aid to Egypt, which was an incentive for then President Anwar Sadat to make peace with Israel more than 30 years ago. Among the items on Egypt’s shopping list are advanced weapons including the F-16C/D fighter aircraft. With the takeover of the Muslim Brotherhood and the doubts about its long-term commitment to the peace treaty with Israel, the question remains if this aid should be reconsidered.

For The_Jerk, You conveniently leave out the fact that the little Hitler of Iran has promised to wipe Israel off the map. Not once or twice, but nearly on a daily basis. That’s why Israel has stated that it needs to pre-emptively deter its nuclear weaponry. Secondly, what country in the world encouraged thousands of its children, ages 12+, to blow themselves up by stepping on land mines during the Iraq-Iran War, and what country is helping Syria to slaughter its civilian population, with now more than 20,000 murdered? That country, of course, is Iran. Don’t think that killing some two million or so Palestinian Arabs living in Israel will be a deterrent to the little Hitler of Iran. Not likely. After all, he‘s stated that he’s willing to “sacrifice half the population of his own country, Iran, in order to wipe the Zionist entity (a.k.a. Israel) off the map.” Finally, you tell readers about Pappe, the Jewish historian. Read the March 17, 2011 edition of the “New Republic”, where Pappe’s work is dissected, almost word for word. Then, after reading that article, try another “historian” to make some point, or other.

The Ghettos are ghettos because the Palestinian leadership wants their people living in poverty and ignorance. They do not distribute the aid given to them so that their people will hate Israel and blame the Jews for their squalor. In truth people will not attack in fervor unless given a good reason. The Arab leadership flames the fire of hatred. The Jews have been under attack since 1929,it is not going to stop. If the Jews were all killed do you think the Muslims would be happy for long, no. They would turn their eyes towards us.

Let’s not forget the bigger picture…NONE of the other Islamic/Muslim/Arabic countries will take the Palastinian refugees in with any path to citizenship. Not since day one, over the decades, have they wavered in this.

They are using Palestine as a pawn against Israel…as a continuous hate-filled PR problem…as a continuous threat. Too be honest, they also do not want Palestinians to mass in any particular country, become citizens and eventually rise up within the government seeking an equal or special voice in politics.

Why is it that when our “friends” behave like our enemies we keep selling them our military hardware? Clearly this practice did not start under the current POTUS, but why is it that even the anti-military Presidents keep arming our enemies?

      Please see: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/egypt-847m-request-for-125-m1a1-tanks-03684/

Yet just last year (again I am not faulting the current Communist-In-Chief) we agreed to sell an additional 250 M1A1 tanks (hi-tech armor and functions included) to Egypt which brings their total to around 1,130 of our tanks. All I can hope is we have a “kill switch” built into each one for when the time comes to shut them down. Many will argue that Eqypt is our so-called friend, but when the time comes, and it will, we will be forced to choose between a member of the new Axis Powers, or as was almost 70 years ago, it will be necessary to protect Israel and all its’ Jewish, Arabic, and Christian citizens from a world set once again on its total extermination.

Another empty argument clueless of history. The Muslim-Palestinians are from the lands of neighboring Syria, Lebanon, Eqypt, and Jordan. This is nothing more than another attempt by Radical-Islam to eliminate the Jewish people and their rightful state from the Middle East. Jewish Palestine is what it always has been….Jewish. This is a war waged by Islam to annihilate any non-believers, and in this case eliminate a religion that pre-dated Islam be several milenia.

Islam has no place for infidels unlike ALL other religions. It is extremely doubtful that a religion founded by a warrior is for anything remotely linked to peace. Although Islam recognizes that the God of Abraham is the one true God just like Judaism and Christianity, it espouses that non-believers are to be converted or eliminated unlike the Jewish and Christian faiths. That power and authority is reserved exclusively for the Almighty and his judgement against the non-believers.

The Jewish state and its people will never again submit to the rule of any non-Jewish Arab. This is the rightful land of Judea and always has been. The Babylonian King, Nebuchadnezzar II, had conquered the kingdoms of Judah and Israel which sent the Jewish people into exile in the neighboring lands of modern day Syria, Jordan, and Eqypt. It was not until finally in 1947 that the United Nations resolved to finally recognize the Jewish-Palestine as Israel once again. Case closed!

      God Bless America, and Isr

Then when on to a six day route kicking the buttocks of the arabs. In the battles the Israelis took land, weapons and became a prominent force to be respected around the world.

Most Americans do not understand how the Israeli’s feel; they are surrounded by the enemy. Surrounded! What would you do? Would you fight for the safety of your Family? Your land? The peace of your home?

      Jerk,

You won’t fool many here on the Blaze. Most posters understand that the “Palestinian” people are an invented people, mostly from Jordan. They were put into the areas they now inhabit by the Arab/Muslim countries in the region so they could wage war on Israel without hitting their own Arab people. When Israel unexpectedly won the war, the West Bank and Gaza Arabs were trapped. Rather than their original host countries reabsorbing the populations, they purposely left them where they were so as to agitate against the Israeli state. Israel, unlike its Arab neighbors, allows Palestinians to cross the border and work or own businesses in Israel. Have you been there?

When the Roman Empire conquered the Middle East, the land of Palestine was known and recognized by Rome as the region of the Jews. They are in their own internationally-recognized homeland, and they have a right to exist and defend their borders. The so-called “Palestinians” have repeatedly attacked and murdered Israeli civilians for the purpose of demoralizing and terrorizing them. Israel is not the aggressor, their Arab nations are. It’s about to happen again, & Israel will triumph again.

Repeating lies over and over does not transform them into truth.

      Jerk,

You have a completely distorted view of history. The Hebrews ended up in Egypt through Joseph (a Jew) who served the Egyptian people and the Pharaoh by preparing them for famine. Because Pharaoh was so pleased with Joseph’s service, he allowed the Hebrews to come and live among them. A generation or so later, a new ruler enslaved them. So for 400 years of slavery, you say they set up their own nation? Nope, they were enslaved. Then God freed them through Moses AFTER they repeatedly tried to leave peacefully.

Again, the nation of Egypt was the aggressor, & the Jews won in the end. You sound like a sore loser…

      @Ajay;

      Consider this outline of events:

Israel commits to their attack on Iranian nuclear infrastructure and facilities; this assault operation will entangle a fair to substantial majority of the Israeli Air Force.

In anticipation of this, Iran, in league with the Brotherhood leaders; prepare to surge into Israel, as the main deterence of Israel is committed already. The combined onslaught can catch Israel off guard and may this time succeed.

The third probability is Obama ensuring the planned attack by Israel is released to Iran and Egypt, and his high probability of intervention against Israel as well.

Hezbollah in the US and south of the border are unleashed by Iran, further destabalizing the land; cut off oil to the US, via threats to southern governments of substantial terrorism. Do not forget as well that Iran has a missile base in Venuzuela.

Combined together – The Caliphate is close to completion. Obama eliminates another vestige of the old system (in his eyes) of colonialism. He ensures no other nation will ever trust an alliance with the US (betrayals of ones allies tend to ensure that).

Obama wins in his plan to further disgrace and reduce the US, as the war would disrupt the oil supplies we depend upon.

As if this will actually matter to you…the logic of my statement is manifest if one knows the historical alignment of the area, politically, ideology, faith and the past military campaigns in all the dynamics leading to them and since then.

Israel has been caught off guard before by Egypt; and the simple logic is thus – a window opens while they are dealing with Iran. Egypt pounces, and has a good chance of winning unless Israel backs off from Iran, who then is freed up to attack Israel.

This is the fulfillment of Sun-Tzu in the Art of War: Attack the enemies strategy first and foremost.

Israel has the ability to focus on one major move at a time, and given the fact that the Egyptian Army, now subject to the Muslim Brotherhoods commands, is armed with US ARMS, they have a better chance than in their last wars of winning.

Consider this ideological connection with Obama in the matter; the Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak is a member of the Labor Party which is Socialist, and connected with the current Israeli protests, their version of our Occupy movements, that have been going on for some time.

Socialism ties the matter by ideology between him and Obama; the Muslim Brotherhood relations with Obama ties him to Iran.

A failed attack on Iran or a severe strike by Egypt on Israel, then the current government of Israel may collapse, allowing Ehud and his party a chance to grab power through lawful means. Then they can make peace, possibly, with Iran and Israel, while instituting a sweeping Socialist reformation of the nation.

If you weren’t intentionally and criminally ignorant you would know that Israel has been under nearly constant attack for over 60 years. It was Israel that was attacked first in 1948 and 1976, and it was Israel that was blockaded by Egypt (an act of war) in 1967. In that same 1967 war, Jordan was asked to stay out and responded by invading a UN compound. And as for Syria, they had artillery guns installed in the Golan that repeated shelled Israeli towns from 1948 until 1967, when Israel invaded and destroyed these batteries. Not one year has gone by in 64 years of Israeli history without multiple attacks being launched against Israel and its citizens. Just this year alone has seen more rocket attacks against Israel than Israel has had offensive campaigns in its history. Try multiplying that by 64 and then tell me that the result is still smaller when it was bigger to begin with.

When foreign Jews use the Third Reich as a means to emigrate to land already occupied, that’s what happens. It is sad that so many Americans do not know history. Those ghettos arose why? Because of Jordan, Syria and Egypt. When Jews were given an area controlled by the British (mostly) The Arabs there were told by the other nations – to get out because the Jews were going to kill everyone – there was no proof or evidence but these other countries wanted unrest. The Arabs that stayed are the Arabs that are living in Israel, voting freely and serving in Parliament. It a Jewish state, so I understand why some Muslims would want to flee. And flee they did. Some of the area we know as Israel and Palestine was under Jordanian rule. When Syria, Jordan and Egypt attacked Israel and Israel won that territory, the aggressor countries refused to help deal with the mess they had created. The ‘refugees” refuse to see Israel as a state and refused to assimilate. After so many years the original refugees have had babies and now it is this big area of poverty and a people being filled with hate, being supported – mainly by the US. Is Israel free of mistakes, prejudices, violence…no. Not at all. But to say they are the aggressor… not true. Have they responded sometimes more high handedly than necessary, yes, but to paint Israel as some sort of monster terrorizing the region is simply not true. Trying to understand that region has led me to read about that era and the history. Americans believes the anti Israeli propoganda. It is what we do best, belive propaganda.

      Jerk,

You distort history to fit your narrative. Your lies are driven by propaganda and smears. The Roman Empire recognized the land of Palestine as “the region of the Jews”. The original Palestinian people were the Hebrew nation. It was restored to them in 1948 after centuries of persecution and expulsion by Christian & Arab armies. They came home from Europe and Asia, they didn’t invade. It is the Jew who has the right of return to their homeland.

The surrounding Arab nations have repeatedly attacked Israel without any more provocation than its existence. It has defended itself repeatedly, and been victorious. Defending your homeland is not aggression. Palestinians should be defending Jordan, Syria, & Lebanon where their heritage is derived from. They are an invented people for a political purpose. Your rantings are those of Islamists who ignore history and truth.

Looks like a very dangerous situation. It appears Obama is helping the enemies of Israel. I fear a war is near and those who voted for Obama are complicit. People are telling me more and more that they think there will not be an election. War in Israel would give him a reason to put it off. Pray for the Jews!

Hey Jerk, The Pal’s forced themselves there by continually bombing the Israelis. Some of the most wealthy oil countries surround Israel and are MUSLIM. Don’t ya think they could help their “brothers” and provide some sort of aid? Did you know it is America and Israel who aid these people? The “brothers” have intentionally placed the Pal’s there to aggravate the situation. They are useful tools. The Middle East would love nothing more than to terrorize Israel every day of their life. It’s working. Sadly, Israel, the only democratic society in the region, whom we should support just for political reasons, is being made out to be a bully by merely defending themselves. The land belongs to Israel. It was made a state in 1948. The Israeli’s have a 3000 year history in the region. The Pal’s were a nomadic, non-legal group of refugees from surrounding countries that have been incited to hate Israel for their woes. Maybe they should move to Detroit, they would fit right in.

Jerk, the Pal’s were refugees from other countries. They were nomadic. They were not organized. They did not have their homes taken. They were small in numbers. They do not have a claim to the land in any way. The British colonized the area and then gave it to the Jews after WWII as a place to gather. The outlying areas were SOLD to Israeli’s. You need to open a history book and stop listening to the bottom dwellers for your news source.

      @Jerk
What do you know of history? Prior to the early Zionist migrations the land was scarcely populated and all the land they settled was purchased or was previously unowned. The local Arabs were only upset because many of them weren’t landowners but rather hired workers who were allowed to live on the land if they worked for the landlords. When their land was sold and the Jews worked it themselves they had to find other work.

As for your “ghettos”, during WWII, the Nazis forced the Jews to live in a cramped area of a city under dismal conditions. Overpopulation was an understatement, all contact with non-Jewish civilians was prohibited, people were only let out for work purposes which were monitored and for which they weren’t paid, and the Nazis strictly controlled all food allocation. Sanitary needs weren’t met nor was proper clothing for the winter provided. Public executions were commonplace and mass graves had to made to accommodate all those who died of disease, starvation, the cold weather, or were just gunned down.

To this you compare Israel’s building of a border fence through which transit is permitted even if it is regulated and those passing through are allowed to go about their business unsupervised. They are permitted regular contact with whoever they wish one allowed through and there are many who even live outside of the barrier. Food and medical services are provided in large quantities on a daily basis.

TZion, scarcely populated, or overly populated, is an obfuscation. That fact is, Palestinians were there before foreign Jews emigrated. American and European Jews were not in the land of Palestine, as Herzl attested in his many speeches.

Jews managed their ethnic cleansing through abundant avenues, including working close with Hitlers Third Reich:

By your argument neither of us has any right to be in the US because the Native Americans were here first. As for Jews working with Hitler, wasn‘t it the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem who was an honored guest of Hitler’s? Wasn’t their meeting to discuss what to do with the Jews already in what was then Palestine? Moreover, there have been Jews in the land continuously since before Islam ever existed and many current residents of Israel aren’t from Europe or America. Rather, they are descendents from the 700,000 refugees who sought refuge in Israel after being expelled from just about everywhere from Iraq to Morocco. By comparison, there were approximately 500,000 Palestinian refugees fleeing Israel. Strangely, there are no longer any Jews with refugee status while there are over a million Palestinians who can claim they were displaced in 1948. History is being revised before our very eyes.

Okay how about I be more specific as to what I meant when I said “scarcely”. Israel currently has a population well into the millions. A century ago, the area known as Palestine (which then included Jordan) had a population of less than 1 million. In other words, there were 1/5 as many people living in an area 3 times as big.

At least you are becoming more honest by admitting that the Jews were indeed foreign invaders. And factually, it’s also undeniable.

Secondly, read the above website. The Mufti was a late player. Jews, Zionists, worked with the Reich. Both belief systems were identical, ethnically pure states. Here it is again: http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v13/v13n4p29_Weber.html

It is the Islamists who want them off the land because it is the only land in the region that is not Muslim. Iran has been threatening Israel from the moment Israel was given the land. Never has Israel launched a weapon that wasn’t in self defense. Seriously, open a book. Find one time Israel woke up and said today we are going launch an offensive. You won’t find it. Why? Because they are people of God and know that war is not the first option. It is the only option if you are being threatened or attacked.

What was Israel called prior to Palestine? It was known as Judea. The name was changed after the Roman/ Jewish wars in order to remove any vestige of Jewish ownership.

What you want to ignore is all the archeological evidence that proves Jews have been there much longer historically than the made up Palestinian refugee. So instead you call names and put snarky comments about spaceships.

The sad part is once one has heard the truth and refuses to act upon it, the time will come when you will want to change your mind but you will not be able to. As far as me being a dangerous Islamic terrorist, sorry to burst your bubble but Jesus has not called any Christian to kill in his name, God says Vengeance is Mine, I will use words not bombs, bullets or swords.

Before Hitler invaded Poland he occupied Czechoslovakia. Before that he annexed Austria. And before he did any of that he moved troops into the Rhineland in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Now we see Egypt moving troops into the Sinai in violation of the Camp David accords. And this happens following a major change in Egypt’s government. Historical patterns are very telling if you are actually informed and educated enough to know history.
